00:00:12.194 --> 00:00:15.954
VIRGINIA: Welcome to Where I Long To Be, A Magical Trip Report Podcast.

00:00:15.954 --> 00:00:18.274
VIRGINIA: I am your host, Virginia.

00:00:18.274 --> 00:00:26.494
VIRGINIA: It is time for another podcast review, this time from Apple Podcast and a listener called MMTrainer17.

00:00:26.494 --> 00:00:28.934
VIRGINIA: The review is titled, magical!

00:00:29.194 --> 00:00:35.354
VIRGINIA: And MMTrainer17 says, The episodes with Elizabeth are amazing.

00:00:35.934 --> 00:00:36.474
VIRGINIA: Love them.

00:00:36.474 --> 00:00:39.274
VIRGINIA: Repeat guest request.

00:00:39.274 --> 00:00:41.274
VIRGINIA: Thank you so much for that review.

00:00:41.274 --> 00:00:42.514
VIRGINIA: And I agree.

00:00:42.514 --> 00:00:44.654
VIRGINIA: Elizabeth was an amazing guest.

00:00:44.654 --> 00:00:49.694
VIRGINIA: I had such fun chatting with her and I would love to have her back again for a future trip.

00:00:49.694 --> 00:00:55.074
VIRGINIA: I will definitely reach out to her and let her know that there are demands to bring her back.

00:01:07.694 --> 00:01:15.434
VIRGINIA: I'm currently looking for guests who are traveling in 2025, and it is not too early at all to submit to be considered.

00:01:15.434 --> 00:01:24.594
VIRGINIA: If you're a travel agent, don't forget to send my information to your favorite clients, and we can make sure that you get a shout out on any episode your client is a part of.

00:01:24.594 --> 00:01:27.254
VIRGINIA: Okay, let's not wait any longer.

00:01:27.254 --> 00:01:30.474
VIRGINIA: I know you are clamoring to hear how my friend Krista's trip went.

00:01:30.474 --> 00:01:32.014
VIRGINIA: So let's get right into it.

00:01:32.554 --> 00:01:34.914
VIRGINIA: Here's Krista.

00:01:34.914 --> 00:01:36.894
VIRGINIA: Krista, you're back.

00:01:36.894 --> 00:01:38.314
KRISTA: Yes, unfortunately.

00:01:38.314 --> 00:01:39.274
VIRGINIA: I know.

00:01:39.274 --> 00:01:40.214
VIRGINIA: Oh my gosh.

00:01:40.214 --> 00:01:51.054
VIRGINIA: I was very loosely following along with your trip on Instagram because as you know, I was in London for part of the time too, so I was so busy, but I would catch pictures here and there.

00:01:51.054 --> 00:01:57.714
VIRGINIA: So a lot of what I'm going to hear today is going to be brand new information for me and I'm so excited to hear all about it.

00:01:57.714 --> 00:02:07.254
VIRGINIA: I do have my biggest follow up question for you though, from our pre-trip interview, which is, you were trying for a DVC Moonlight Magic Night.

00:02:07.254 --> 00:02:08.494
VIRGINIA: Did you get it?

00:02:08.494 --> 00:02:09.754
KRISTA: We did.

00:02:09.754 --> 00:02:10.774
KRISTA: Yay.

00:02:10.774 --> 00:02:11.494
VIRGINIA: Oh my gosh.

00:02:11.494 --> 00:02:14.074
KRISTA: 5,000 and something people ahead of me, but we did.

00:02:14.074 --> 00:02:14.814
KRISTA: We got it.

00:02:14.834 --> 00:02:15.574
VIRGINIA: Oh, wow.

00:02:15.574 --> 00:02:16.154
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:02:16.154 --> 00:02:16.634
VIRGINIA: Yeah.

00:02:16.634 --> 00:02:21.474
VIRGINIA: Why is every time you have to sign up for something through Disney, it's so stressful?

00:02:21.474 --> 00:02:29.194
VIRGINIA: Like the number of people in the queue ahead of you and being on right at the time, it is in some ways very exciting.

00:02:29.334 --> 00:02:31.254
VIRGINIA: Like you get an adrenaline rush.

00:02:31.254 --> 00:02:32.254
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:02:32.254 --> 00:02:37.054
VIRGINIA: In other ways, it's like, could they find a way?

00:02:37.054 --> 00:02:37.454
KRISTA: Right.

00:02:37.454 --> 00:02:39.414
KRISTA: Like there's 5,000 people ahead of me.

00:02:39.414 --> 00:02:40.674
KRISTA: Do they each want four tickets?

00:02:40.674 --> 00:02:41.374
KRISTA: Do they want three?

00:02:41.374 --> 00:02:42.674
KRISTA: How many people are they letting in?

00:02:42.674 --> 00:02:43.534
KRISTA: And it's stressful.

00:02:43.534 --> 00:02:44.014
VIRGINIA: Right.

00:02:44.014 --> 00:02:44.694
VIRGINIA: Right.

00:02:44.714 --> 00:02:45.614
VIRGINIA: Exactly.

00:02:45.614 --> 00:02:46.214
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:02:46.214 --> 00:02:52.974
VIRGINIA: I can't wait to hear about that because as a fellow DVC member, I would love to go to DVC Moonlight Magic at some point.

00:02:52.974 --> 00:03:05.854
VIRGINIA: But as you know, they typically go to the people who already had trips planned at the time that they come out, and you don't know when they're going to happen usually until after you already planned your trip.

00:03:05.854 --> 00:03:07.314
VIRGINIA: So it's kind of luck of the draw.

00:03:07.314 --> 00:03:11.714
VIRGINIA: And one day, one day, that will be me.

00:03:11.714 --> 00:03:12.274
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:03:12.274 --> 00:03:13.554
VIRGINIA: Let's get into it.

00:03:13.554 --> 00:03:16.434
VIRGINIA: So this is a nice long trip.

00:03:16.434 --> 00:03:21.834
VIRGINIA: You did a split stay between Animal Kingdom Lodge, Kedani and Polynesian.

00:03:22.774 --> 00:03:27.514
VIRGINIA: So first staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge for your travel day.

00:03:27.514 --> 00:03:29.694
VIRGINIA: How did everything go with your travel?

00:03:29.694 --> 00:03:37.494
VIRGINIA: because I know that you do prefer to fly earlier in the day, but you had a flight that had you landing there in the evening.

00:03:37.494 --> 00:03:38.034
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:03:38.034 --> 00:03:38.294
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:03:38.294 --> 00:03:40.374
KRISTA: We go where the deals are.

00:03:40.374 --> 00:03:42.634
KRISTA: So we had a later afternoon flight.

00:03:42.834 --> 00:03:49.814
KRISTA: It was supposed to leave around 4.15, and we were about an hour or so delayed, which isn't too bad.

00:03:49.814 --> 00:03:54.674
KRISTA: It's, I guess, the other flight coming in, all that stuff, the snowball effect there.

00:03:54.674 --> 00:03:56.514
KRISTA: But we were hoping to use the pool.

00:03:56.514 --> 00:03:57.854
KRISTA: We did check beforehand.

00:03:57.854 --> 00:03:59.294
KRISTA: It was open until 11.

00:03:59.294 --> 00:04:04.554
KRISTA: So I think we ended up getting to Kadani at about 9.45.

00:04:04.554 --> 00:04:12.054
KRISTA: So we just threw our stuff in the room and took the kids down to the pool, and we managed to get some pool time for about an hour or so.

00:04:12.094 --> 00:04:14.834
KRISTA: So it was good, a little minor delay, but the flight was great.

00:04:14.834 --> 00:04:17.134
KRISTA: We love flying with that particular airline.

00:04:17.134 --> 00:04:21.234
KRISTA: We flew into the new terminal, which is fun, and made it just in time for the pool.

00:04:21.234 --> 00:04:23.014
KRISTA: So no complaints there.

00:04:23.014 --> 00:04:24.954
VIRGINIA: And what about your room location?

00:04:24.954 --> 00:04:32.194
VIRGINIA: because having stayed in a Savannah view before, you were saving some points and doing a standard view this time.

00:04:32.194 --> 00:04:34.434
VIRGINIA: So where was your room located?

00:04:34.434 --> 00:04:37.174
VIRGINIA: Was it a huge long walk?

00:04:37.174 --> 00:04:39.594
VIRGINIA: And how was it being in a standard view compared to a Savannah?

00:04:40.254 --> 00:04:48.614
KRISTA: Yeah, so last time it felt like it was like a five-mile walk to the room, which was worth it because the view and the animals were absolutely incredible.

00:04:48.614 --> 00:04:51.334
KRISTA: So to be that distance, I totally get it.

00:04:51.334 --> 00:04:57.394
KRISTA: Knowing we weren't doing Savannah this time, I did request a room closer to the lobby, which was nice.

00:04:57.394 --> 00:05:00.214
KRISTA: We were just looking at a bunch of trees.

00:05:00.214 --> 00:05:02.174
KRISTA: The parking lot was on the other side of it.

00:05:02.174 --> 00:05:05.654
KRISTA: So the view is nothing to write home about, but it was nice and close.

00:05:07.454 --> 00:05:13.674
KRISTA: The caveat to that, though, is that there are hundreds of people further down the hall going to their rooms.

00:05:13.674 --> 00:05:24.394
KRISTA: So you're always going to have, for a light sleeper like me, you're always going to hear the people walking back to their rooms at the end of the night after a party, late night, or leaving first thing in the morning.

00:05:24.394 --> 00:05:28.914
KRISTA: So it was a little bit noisier on the flip side.

00:05:28.914 --> 00:05:30.634
KRISTA: But we didn't have that walk, which was nice.

00:05:30.634 --> 00:05:34.094
KRISTA: But I will say, oh, my gosh, the Savannah view is where it's at.

00:05:34.254 --> 00:05:41.494
KRISTA: If you are able to swing it, like we spent so much time out on the balcony that first trip.

00:05:41.494 --> 00:05:48.274
KRISTA: So definitely, if you're able to swing it, if you have enough points, if you can upgrade, I would definitely go for that for sure.

00:05:48.274 --> 00:05:50.114
KRISTA: But we do love Kadani.

00:05:50.114 --> 00:05:50.774
VIRGINIA: Yeah.

00:05:50.774 --> 00:05:51.414
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:05:51.414 --> 00:05:59.274
VIRGINIA: Have you ever tried, and I've never done this, but have you ever tried playing white noise or something like that when you're in that situation?

00:05:59.274 --> 00:06:01.234
KRISTA: I have.

00:06:01.234 --> 00:06:02.534
KRISTA: It's only me that it bothers.

00:06:02.654 --> 00:06:05.854
KRISTA: So I don't want anything that would bother the rest of the family.

00:06:05.854 --> 00:06:10.314
KRISTA: I have earplugs, which are really good, and they do help.

00:06:10.314 --> 00:06:13.334
KRISTA: I've heard white noise is really good, and some people bring machines.

00:06:13.334 --> 00:06:17.754
KRISTA: I don't want you to take up the real estate in my suitcase for souvenirs.

00:06:17.754 --> 00:06:21.214
KRISTA: But I know that there are apps on your phone and things like that too.

00:06:21.214 --> 00:06:25.294
KRISTA: So it's not super bothersome with the earplugs.

00:06:25.294 --> 00:06:30.714
KRISTA: So I haven't tried that yet, but I do know that that's an option if it ever becomes more bothersome.

00:06:30.834 --> 00:06:34.414
KRISTA: because, yeah, the Disney Walls, too, so thin.

00:06:34.414 --> 00:06:38.654
KRISTA: Like I was listening to Toilets Flush and people talking.

00:06:38.654 --> 00:06:44.174
KRISTA: But, yeah, so it's definitely on my radar to try that one day.

00:06:44.174 --> 00:06:46.814
VIRGINIA: So that was Friday, August 16th.

00:06:46.814 --> 00:06:50.514
VIRGINIA: So moving into Saturday, August 17th.

00:06:50.514 --> 00:06:59.414
VIRGINIA: You said that Phil and the boys were going to be doing a resort day because you had some fun planned for Epcot with some Disney friends.

00:07:00.074 --> 00:07:02.634
VIRGINIA: So tell us how this day went.

00:07:02.634 --> 00:07:05.094
KRISTA: This was so much fun.

00:07:05.094 --> 00:07:09.314
KRISTA: It was strange but lovely, leaving the family behind.

00:07:09.314 --> 00:07:10.294
KRISTA: And they had a great day.

00:07:10.294 --> 00:07:12.194
KRISTA: They hung out at the resort, did the pool.

00:07:12.194 --> 00:07:19.594
KRISTA: They went to Disney Springs and Phil was able to get one of those coveted Reese, the Mickey Pumpkin Reese.

00:07:19.594 --> 00:07:21.534
KRISTA: So they did some shopping, had a good day there.

00:07:21.534 --> 00:07:24.814
KRISTA: But, yeah, I got to go to Epcot and meet up with some friends.

00:07:24.814 --> 00:07:26.874
KRISTA: Some I had met before, some I had not.

00:07:27.854 --> 00:07:37.574
KRISTA: So I met up with Stacey, Stacey to the Magic, Cate and James of Rafter Adventures, Kristina, World Showcase Adventures, and then Daina, Mark and Arielle.

00:07:37.914 --> 00:07:44.254
KRISTA: 99 Happy haunts Here, simply meant to be at Disney, and Will of the Parkside.

00:07:44.254 --> 00:07:49.974
KRISTA: And they managed to get an early virtual queue for Guardians a bit earlier than anticipated.

00:07:49.974 --> 00:08:00.174
KRISTA: So I hung out with them in line and then went and did the chicken exit right when it came time to get on the ride, because I do not do that one.

00:08:00.174 --> 00:08:01.594
KRISTA: So we did that.

00:08:01.594 --> 00:08:10.794
KRISTA: And on our way over to World Showcase to meet up with a couple more people, we stopped by the new Communicore Hall and met Mickey, Goofy and Minnie.

00:08:10.794 --> 00:08:16.034
KRISTA: And that was such a fun, just the cast members and the characters made it so much fun with a big group of us.

00:08:16.034 --> 00:08:21.554
KRISTA: And then to be able to meet three characters all in one spot, that was a really neat new spot.

00:08:21.694 --> 00:08:36.554
KRISTA: So we got some fun pictures there, had a good time, then made our way over to France to grab some lunch and some drinks and meet up with a couple more friends, two Kellys, Kelley Mission Magic, and then Kelley, Kelley Society 1955.

00:08:36.554 --> 00:08:46.254
KRISTA: So yeah, after that, we just we were eating and drinking and wandering around World Showcase and just really enjoying each other's company.

00:08:46.434 --> 00:08:47.574
KRISTA: And it was it was great.

00:08:47.574 --> 00:08:48.394
KRISTA: We had a great day.

00:08:48.394 --> 00:08:51.154
KRISTA: And then just before dinner, a few of us went back.

00:08:51.294 --> 00:08:54.734
KRISTA: I went back to to see my family take a little break.

00:08:54.734 --> 00:08:57.654
KRISTA: And I think they most of them stayed there.

00:08:57.654 --> 00:09:03.794
KRISTA: And then we had plans to meet up at Disney Springs to check out the drone shows at night.

00:09:03.794 --> 00:09:05.854
VIRGINIA: OK, which one did you go to?

00:09:05.854 --> 00:09:08.054
VIRGINIA: because it plays it two different times.

00:09:08.054 --> 00:09:08.694
KRISTA: It does.

00:09:08.694 --> 00:09:09.134
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:09:10.154 --> 00:09:13.774
KRISTA: So we had plans to go see the earlier one.

00:09:13.774 --> 00:09:17.914
KRISTA: So I actually brought my older son, Jack, to go back and see it.

00:09:17.914 --> 00:09:18.814
KRISTA: And we got there.

00:09:18.814 --> 00:09:19.694
KRISTA: It looked packed.

00:09:19.774 --> 00:09:23.374
KRISTA: Like the line just for the buses, the resort bus to get in there was packed.

00:09:23.374 --> 00:09:26.474
KRISTA: I saw signs that the parking was full.

00:09:26.474 --> 00:09:31.634
KRISTA: So everyone's kind of texting on the group chat, just saying that they're having trouble getting in.

00:09:31.634 --> 00:09:34.854
KRISTA: They're lined up, can't even get in a garage, finally get there, it's full.

00:09:34.854 --> 00:09:36.114
KRISTA: So they were really struggling.

00:09:36.114 --> 00:09:42.014
KRISTA: So it was only Jack and I that were there in time for the early show that we had all planned to see.

00:09:42.014 --> 00:09:44.014
KRISTA: So just went to see it.

00:09:44.014 --> 00:09:46.454
KRISTA: It was so incredibly busy.

00:09:46.454 --> 00:09:48.914
KRISTA: I would never go to Disney Springs on a weekend.

00:09:48.994 --> 00:09:51.434
KRISTA: I was doing it for my friends because they love them.

00:09:51.434 --> 00:10:03.094
KRISTA: But we were herded like cattle toward that west end behind House of Blues, the viewing area, and it was just like very slowly being herded down there.

00:10:03.094 --> 00:10:04.474
KRISTA: He and I finally made it down.

00:10:04.474 --> 00:10:10.054
KRISTA: We got in that area and then like two minutes later, they announced that the viewing area was full.

00:10:10.054 --> 00:10:11.934
KRISTA: So it was really cool.

00:10:11.934 --> 00:10:22.974
KRISTA: We were off to the side a little bit, so we didn't get to see, I think, the full, we didn't get to experience the projections as they would have been if you were dead center, but they were still really, really cool.

00:10:22.974 --> 00:10:24.294
KRISTA: It was short.

00:10:24.294 --> 00:10:28.854
KRISTA: I think it was less than 10 minutes, maybe 10 minutes, but super cool.

00:10:28.854 --> 00:10:29.814
KRISTA: I'm glad we saw it.

00:10:29.974 --> 00:10:37.374
KRISTA: Then by that time, I could see that everyone had made their way in somehow or other and they were at World of Disney.

00:10:38.354 --> 00:10:44.714
KRISTA: Okay, I'm going to try to make my way all the way back down to that side, at least just to see them and say bye.

00:10:45.154 --> 00:10:54.294
KRISTA: We start and it's the same thing, like just the absolute packed shoulder to shoulder, like barely moving, which fine with, we had to get out of there.

00:10:54.294 --> 00:10:58.794
KRISTA: But then I see a security guard come running through, excuse me, excuse me, like there's some emergency.

00:10:58.794 --> 00:11:00.994
KRISTA: I was like, okay, Jack, we're out.

00:11:01.394 --> 00:11:03.334
KRISTA: We left, I think, Orange Parking?

00:11:03.334 --> 00:11:04.454
KRISTA: I don't remember.

00:11:04.454 --> 00:11:12.834
KRISTA: The first time I could see an exit, we just got out and I was like, we'll walk along the perimeter until we can get back in with a bit of a less crowd.

00:11:13.934 --> 00:11:19.254
KRISTA: We did and then we just popped into World of Disney quickly and I got to see everyone and say bye.

00:11:19.254 --> 00:11:21.194
KRISTA: Some I was going to see again, some I wasn't.

00:11:21.194 --> 00:11:23.294
KRISTA: So I just wanted to make sure I said bye to everyone.

00:11:23.294 --> 00:11:28.154
KRISTA: Then I think they ended up staying and getting to see the later show, which is good.

00:11:28.154 --> 00:11:29.134
KRISTA: So that all worked out.

00:11:29.134 --> 00:11:33.854
KRISTA: But yeah, it was a really, really packed night at Disney Springs.

00:11:33.854 --> 00:11:35.434
KRISTA: But the drone show was really cool.

00:11:35.434 --> 00:11:38.354
KRISTA: So hopefully they bring something like that back in the future.

00:11:38.354 --> 00:11:39.874
VIRGINIA: Yeah, it is really cool.

00:11:40.434 --> 00:11:47.514
VIRGINIA: What I don't love is that they have created a funnel into where they put you into the viewing area.

00:11:47.514 --> 00:11:57.654
VIRGINIA: I think that's the problem because my experience was the same as yours with the feeling like you're being herded like cattle, and it was like, are we going to get in even?

00:11:57.654 --> 00:12:03.774
VIRGINIA: Then once we got in, I felt like even though there were plenty of people there, I felt like I had plenty of space.

00:12:03.774 --> 00:12:09.634
VIRGINIA: We sat on the ground and just were able to spread our legs out and that was fine.

00:12:10.294 --> 00:12:14.074
VIRGINIA: But the getting in and the getting out were a nightmare.

00:12:14.074 --> 00:12:15.494
VIRGINIA: Absolutely.

00:12:15.494 --> 00:12:19.014
VIRGINIA: I don't know if it's any better at the later showing.

00:12:19.014 --> 00:12:25.314
VIRGINIA: I have to think it probably is at least a little bit better just because you lose a lot of families with younger kids.

00:12:25.334 --> 00:12:30.674
VIRGINIA: You might be already pushing it to bring their kid to the earlier show.

00:12:31.854 --> 00:12:39.394
VIRGINIA: I wonder if this is a testing ground for potentially bringing something like this to one of the parks.

00:12:39.534 --> 00:12:41.654
VIRGINIA: Like maybe Hollywood Studios.

00:12:42.894 --> 00:12:43.314
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:12:43.314 --> 00:12:44.474
KRISTA: That would be awesome.

00:12:44.474 --> 00:12:47.574
KRISTA: Just so much more room to spread out and you wouldn't have that funneling.

00:12:47.834 --> 00:12:48.434
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:12:48.494 --> 00:12:49.554
KRISTA: It's a really great show.

00:12:49.554 --> 00:12:50.754
KRISTA: It's such a neat thing.

00:12:50.754 --> 00:12:51.594
VIRGINIA: Yeah.

00:12:51.594 --> 00:13:02.954
VIRGINIA: Although now I'm thinking about it, Hollywood Studios might not be the best because I think one of the things you have to think about when you're doing the drone show is, I don't think this would happen, but in the event they stop working and they just fall.

00:13:02.954 --> 00:13:04.414
KRISTA: Right.

00:13:04.414 --> 00:13:04.674
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:13:05.694 --> 00:13:10.814
VIRGINIA: You kind of need to have a space where the drones can fly above something where there are not people.

00:13:10.814 --> 00:13:14.654
VIRGINIA: So Epcot makes more sense for that because of the light.

00:13:14.654 --> 00:13:16.534
VIRGINIA: But anyway, all right.

00:13:16.534 --> 00:13:23.814
VIRGINIA: On to Sunday, August the 18th, and this was a Hollywood Studios day.

00:13:23.814 --> 00:13:26.474
VIRGINIA: So what did you get into at Hollywood Studios?

00:13:27.114 --> 00:13:29.974
KRISTA: Yeah, and this was our first day using multi-pass.

00:13:29.974 --> 00:13:36.074
KRISTA: So I had booked those seven days prior to our trip, and I was really happy to.

00:13:36.074 --> 00:13:43.114
KRISTA: So because we're doing a split stay, I thought that I would have to book the multi-pass for the first day and then have a separate 60 day.

00:13:43.114 --> 00:13:44.394
KRISTA: But that wasn't the case.

00:13:44.394 --> 00:13:46.134
KRISTA: I was able to book the full trip.

00:13:46.134 --> 00:13:46.794
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:13:46.794 --> 00:13:47.114
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:13:47.114 --> 00:13:49.494
KRISTA: So I don't know if that was a fluke or what, but.

00:13:49.494 --> 00:13:53.434
VIRGINIA: I remember we talked about it in your pre-trip about how we thought maybe you'd have to do that.

00:13:53.534 --> 00:13:59.414
VIRGINIA: So that is excellent news for everyone who does split stays and wants to take advantage of multi-pass.

00:13:59.414 --> 00:14:00.354
KRISTA: Yeah, exactly.

00:14:00.354 --> 00:14:01.854
KRISTA: I mean, hopefully it stays like that.

00:14:01.854 --> 00:14:03.174
KRISTA: But so that was good.

00:14:03.174 --> 00:14:07.514
KRISTA: I hadn't prepared for what I wanted for the second week because I thought I had a few more days to do it.

00:14:07.514 --> 00:14:09.514
KRISTA: So I just I frantically started booking.

00:14:09.514 --> 00:14:14.034
KRISTA: But nonetheless, this was our first day of the 13.

00:14:14.034 --> 00:14:15.314
KRISTA: I guess we were there 13 nights.

00:14:15.314 --> 00:14:20.734
KRISTA: So of the 13, 14 days we were there, I bought multi-pass for six of the days.

00:14:20.734 --> 00:14:23.134
KRISTA: So this was the first day trying it out.

00:14:24.774 --> 00:14:27.674
KRISTA: We, I think I had a slinky dog up first.

00:14:27.674 --> 00:14:29.454
KRISTA: I need to snag that one first.

00:14:29.454 --> 00:14:31.934
KRISTA: So we ended up doing all the rides.

00:14:31.934 --> 00:14:34.094
KRISTA: Some of the rides we did twice.

00:14:34.094 --> 00:14:39.094
KRISTA: Some of them my oldest Jack did on his own because we just can't stomach them anymore.

00:14:39.094 --> 00:14:41.874
KRISTA: He did rock and roller coaster on his own.

00:14:41.874 --> 00:14:49.614
KRISTA: And then I think again, with the single rider line, we were able to meet Max and Goofy, which was a really fun interaction.

00:14:49.614 --> 00:14:52.534
KRISTA: My youngest is named Max and he had a goofy hat.

00:14:52.674 --> 00:14:54.494
KRISTA: So that's always a fun talking point.

00:14:54.494 --> 00:14:57.854
KRISTA: But that was a fun one.

00:14:57.854 --> 00:14:59.014
KRISTA: Then we just wandered.

00:14:59.254 --> 00:15:00.454
KRISTA: I love Hollywood Studios.

00:15:00.454 --> 00:15:07.014
KRISTA: We wandered through Toy Story Land and Galaxy's Edge is obviously one of our favorites too or big Star Wars family.

00:15:07.014 --> 00:15:11.714
KRISTA: Then we went back for a pool break and relaxed for a little bit.

00:15:11.714 --> 00:15:14.094
KRISTA: Then I went back to the park, rode some more rides.

00:15:14.094 --> 00:15:22.654
KRISTA: And the thing with the multi-pass too is I feel like even if a ride, say for example, poor old Star Tours is only five or ten minutes.

00:15:22.654 --> 00:15:24.494
KRISTA: I'm like, no, I'm getting a multi-pass.

00:15:24.494 --> 00:15:25.734
KRISTA: I'm getting my money's worth.

00:15:25.734 --> 00:15:26.674
KRISTA: I paid for it.

00:15:26.674 --> 00:15:29.854
KRISTA: So you're going to go in that entrance.

00:15:29.854 --> 00:15:31.054
KRISTA: That's another one I sit out.

00:15:31.054 --> 00:15:32.294
KRISTA: So I sent them in.

00:15:32.294 --> 00:15:38.074
KRISTA: But yeah, did a few more rides and just kind of enjoyed the ambiance of Hollywood studios at night.

00:15:38.074 --> 00:15:47.954
KRISTA: I ran into Dawn, People Mover to Hogwarts, and we chatted and got to say hi, which was really nice.

00:15:47.954 --> 00:15:51.074
KRISTA: And then I watched both the projection shows at the end of the night.

00:15:51.074 --> 00:15:57.474
KRISTA: There's the one that's live-action movies, and then they have one a few minutes later that's the animated movies.

00:15:57.474 --> 00:15:58.934
KRISTA: And there wasn't a big crowd at all.

00:15:58.934 --> 00:16:01.754
KRISTA: We were right up at the front and got to watch it.

00:16:01.754 --> 00:16:03.674
KRISTA: It was a really neat, neat show.

00:16:03.674 --> 00:16:07.634
KRISTA: So stayed right to the end and closed it out and then went back.

00:16:07.754 --> 00:16:10.994
KRISTA: So it was a fun, fun first day.

00:16:10.994 --> 00:16:17.474
VIRGINIA: Overall, during the course of this trip, how were the crowds in the parks?

00:16:17.474 --> 00:16:20.554
KRISTA: Much busier than usual.

00:16:20.554 --> 00:16:26.414
KRISTA: Like we go the last week or so of August every year for the past six years.

00:16:26.414 --> 00:16:44.394
KRISTA: I mean, not including the pandemic, but we've we've went for about six years that same week and just noticed that it was feeling much busier, especially, you know, when we went to like the Mickey's Not So Scary and things like that, it just everything did feel a lot busier than usual.

00:16:44.394 --> 00:16:44.994
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:16:44.994 --> 00:16:46.154
VIRGINIA: Good to know.

00:16:46.154 --> 00:17:00.634
VIRGINIA: When you were using multi pass for the first time, what was your sense of how difficult or easy it was to get rolling multi pass options throughout the course of your day?

00:17:00.634 --> 00:17:02.874
KRISTA: There was a bit of a learning curve for sure.

00:17:03.074 --> 00:17:10.594
KRISTA: The first morning when I was trying to switch things around, my youngest decided he didn't want to go on Tower of Terror.

00:17:10.594 --> 00:17:14.274
KRISTA: So I was like, okay, I'll just cancel it and then we'll go get something else.

00:17:14.274 --> 00:17:15.194
KRISTA: Can't do that.

00:17:15.194 --> 00:17:17.634
KRISTA: I had to have tapped in.

00:17:17.634 --> 00:17:22.854
KRISTA: So then I was stalled for a little bit on that and then I couldn't find it.

00:17:22.854 --> 00:17:27.594
KRISTA: Initially, I was looking under lightning lane instead of the tipboard, which is where it still was.

00:17:27.594 --> 00:17:29.974
KRISTA: So there was definitely a bit of a learning curve there.

00:17:30.174 --> 00:17:38.414
KRISTA: But then once I got going and probably the second day after this first was a bit of a bust in terms of not a bust.

00:17:38.414 --> 00:17:41.114
KRISTA: We did everything, but it was a learning day.

00:17:41.114 --> 00:17:47.834
KRISTA: So but yeah, definitely I started to kind of get a sense of what we should do and how we should do it.

00:17:47.834 --> 00:17:54.154
KRISTA: And those kind of tricks and hacks, if you will, that people had with lightning lane and Fastpass.

00:17:54.154 --> 00:18:01.894
KRISTA: So yeah, once we did those big ones, I would book based on what I could see had the furthest time, right?

00:18:01.894 --> 00:18:04.134
KRISTA: The furthest day of return time.

00:18:04.134 --> 00:18:06.074
KRISTA: And then I would kind of try and start stacking.

00:18:06.074 --> 00:18:12.254
KRISTA: And it wouldn't let, it doesn't let you overlap too, too much, especially in that initial booking seven days out.

00:18:12.534 --> 00:18:15.334
KRISTA: I had to have like a nine to 10, a 10 to 11, 11 to 12.

00:18:15.334 --> 00:18:18.354
KRISTA: But then I could modify.

00:18:18.354 --> 00:18:19.474
KRISTA: And I would do that a few times.

00:18:19.794 --> 00:18:24.394
KRISTA: I would go to modify and different times would come up earlier times.

00:18:24.394 --> 00:18:29.134
KRISTA: So you just have to kind of keep watching and keep going back in there and refreshing.

00:18:29.134 --> 00:18:32.574
KRISTA: But yeah, it wasn't too bad once I got the swing of it.

00:18:32.574 --> 00:18:33.234
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:18:33.234 --> 00:18:38.314
VIRGINIA: Let's move in to Monday, August 19th.

00:18:38.314 --> 00:18:41.154
VIRGINIA: So this was an Animal Kingdom Day.

00:18:41.154 --> 00:18:50.974
VIRGINIA: And you indicated that you had planned to go to the park, but then do some rusting because you had access to Epcot extended evening hours that night.

00:18:50.974 --> 00:18:54.154
VIRGINIA: So how did this day end up actually playing out?

00:18:54.154 --> 00:18:56.154
KRISTA: Yeah, that's always the plan.

00:18:56.414 --> 00:18:57.074
KRISTA: Get some rest.

00:18:57.074 --> 00:18:58.734
KRISTA: But we didn't do too bad.

00:18:58.734 --> 00:19:00.274
KRISTA: So we did start the day.

00:19:00.274 --> 00:19:02.354
KRISTA: I had to multi pass here again.

00:19:02.354 --> 00:19:05.714
KRISTA: So I had set up a safari first.

00:19:05.714 --> 00:19:08.334
KRISTA: So we went on the safari.

00:19:08.334 --> 00:19:11.834
KRISTA: It was actually one of the coolest safaris we've ever been on.

00:19:11.834 --> 00:19:13.734
KRISTA: The animals were so close to the truck.

00:19:13.734 --> 00:19:18.254
KRISTA: Even our driver was saying, like, I've never seen them this close.

00:19:18.254 --> 00:19:19.734
KRISTA: So it was really neat.

00:19:19.734 --> 00:19:20.814
KRISTA: They were very active.

00:19:20.814 --> 00:19:23.054
KRISTA: So that's always a nice start to your Animal Kingdom Day.

00:19:24.874 --> 00:19:25.594
KRISTA: So we did that.

00:19:28.634 --> 00:19:30.534
KRISTA: I did not do Everest.

00:19:30.534 --> 00:19:34.974
KRISTA: I can't stomach that one anymore either, but had a pass for that one for the kids.

00:19:34.974 --> 00:19:38.634
KRISTA: My oldest did it twice again with a single rider, just ran on again.

00:19:38.634 --> 00:19:41.794
KRISTA: Then my third multi-pass was for Navi River.

00:19:41.794 --> 00:19:43.154
KRISTA: So we did that.

00:19:43.154 --> 00:19:48.974
KRISTA: Then I had started to book, I think I got dinosaur as another one.

00:19:48.974 --> 00:19:51.994
KRISTA: Then I started booking Epcot for later that evening.

00:19:53.574 --> 00:20:02.934
KRISTA: We did Triceratops spin, got to do that with my youngest and met Donald in the Dino area, because you got to do all the Dino things while you can.

00:20:02.934 --> 00:20:13.654
KRISTA: So we met him, picked up our annual pass magnets that were at Animal Kingdom and had lunch at Angle Barbecue, because the view back there is gorgeous.

00:20:13.834 --> 00:20:21.334
KRISTA: So I had a lunch and then yeah, I was stacking my Epcot multi-pass for later in the night.

00:20:21.334 --> 00:20:29.334
KRISTA: Then after lunch, we went back to the resort and had some pool time and rested and got ready for Epcot.

00:20:29.674 --> 00:20:32.814
KRISTA: We also had groceries delivered to our hotel as well.

00:20:32.814 --> 00:20:33.654
KRISTA: We always do that.

00:20:33.654 --> 00:20:38.974
KRISTA: So if we had lunch in the park, then we would typically have dinner at the hotel or vice versa.

00:20:38.974 --> 00:20:40.434
KRISTA: So we went back to do that.

00:20:40.434 --> 00:20:42.734
VIRGINIA: What grocery service do you typically use?

00:20:43.334 --> 00:20:44.374
KRISTA: I've used a few.

00:20:44.374 --> 00:20:47.774
KRISTA: So I used to use Garden Grocer and they were great.

00:20:47.774 --> 00:20:50.534
KRISTA: But the last few trips, I've used Walmart.

00:20:50.534 --> 00:20:53.174
KRISTA: It's just much more economical.

00:20:54.294 --> 00:20:56.594
KRISTA: And yeah, we use them.

00:20:56.594 --> 00:20:58.654
KRISTA: Actually, I needed more stuff midweek.

00:20:58.654 --> 00:20:59.314
KRISTA: So I order.

00:20:59.314 --> 00:21:01.534
KRISTA: You can order same day.

00:21:01.534 --> 00:21:03.254
KRISTA: So I had them bring some more stuff midweek.

00:21:03.254 --> 00:21:06.854
KRISTA: And then I had ordered more to be delivered to the Polynesian as well.

00:21:07.014 --> 00:21:09.174
KRISTA: So they've they're they're really good so far.

00:21:09.174 --> 00:21:09.594
KRISTA: So good.

00:21:09.594 --> 00:21:12.914
KRISTA: I think maybe half a dozen times I've used Walmart.

00:21:12.914 --> 00:21:20.974
VIRGINIA: Do you have to physically be there to claim your delivery or will they deliver to Bell Services and then you pick it up when you're ready?

00:21:20.974 --> 00:21:22.554
KRISTA: Yeah, they bring it to Bell Services.

00:21:22.554 --> 00:21:30.574
KRISTA: So I'll typically order like while we're still here, knowing my arrival time and just set it for, you know, I figured we were arriving around eight.

00:21:30.574 --> 00:21:34.314
KRISTA: So I think I set a seven to eight delivery window.

00:21:34.314 --> 00:21:35.734
KRISTA: So it was there when we arrived.

00:21:35.934 --> 00:21:38.914
KRISTA: And yeah, they leave it with Bell Services, which is good.

00:21:38.914 --> 00:21:43.494
VIRGINIA: OK, I'm going to ask one more question about Walmart Delivery Service, only because I've never used it before.

00:21:43.494 --> 00:21:48.554
VIRGINIA: I typically use Amazon Prime and like Prime Fresh or whatever.

00:21:48.554 --> 00:21:53.354
VIRGINIA: So when you're ordering from Walmart, two questions, actually.

00:21:53.374 --> 00:21:55.334
VIRGINIA: One, is there a delivery fee?

00:21:55.334 --> 00:22:02.794
VIRGINIA: And two, like with Amazon Prime, when you're ordering food type things, it's sort of a separate section of Amazon Prime.

00:22:02.794 --> 00:22:04.234
VIRGINIA: It's like the fresh section or whatever.

00:22:04.794 --> 00:22:11.334
VIRGINIA: So when you're ordering from Walmart, is it just going to the main Walmart page or is there like a Walmart grocery page?

00:22:11.334 --> 00:22:13.634
VIRGINIA: And then again, is there a delivery fee?

00:22:13.634 --> 00:22:13.994
KRISTA: Yes.

00:22:13.994 --> 00:22:16.374
KRISTA: So there is a delivery fee.

00:22:16.374 --> 00:22:18.314
KRISTA: It's $9.95.

00:22:19.674 --> 00:22:23.174
KRISTA: I don't recall if you hit a certain threshold, if it was free.

00:22:23.174 --> 00:22:28.274
KRISTA: I think there's also something for, if you have some type of membership, it's free.

00:22:28.274 --> 00:22:30.994
KRISTA:
walmart.com is a bit different for me.

00:22:30.994 --> 00:22:33.094
KRISTA: Here it's
Walmart.ca in Canada.

00:22:33.314 --> 00:22:40.694
KRISTA: So I have to, so I'm not as familiar with those thresholds and what might get you free delivery.

00:22:40.694 --> 00:22:48.874
KRISTA: But there is a $9.95 fee, which, again, with the price of theme park food, it's still a way better deal to order some stuff.

00:22:48.874 --> 00:22:57.554
KRISTA: But once I'm on
walmart.com, there is that tab for groceries, just like there's a tab for different types of items grouped out.

00:22:57.554 --> 00:23:00.154
KRISTA: So I just go to the grocery tab and order everything.

00:23:00.274 --> 00:23:03.334
KRISTA: But I believe you could order other things.

00:23:03.334 --> 00:23:08.374
KRISTA: If you wanted clothes or whatever, you could add that on to your same order, I believe.

00:23:08.374 --> 00:23:11.874
KRISTA: We had added on some spray sunscreen one day to ours.

00:23:11.874 --> 00:23:18.414
KRISTA: So I think that you can include other things that Walmart has on that order.

00:23:18.414 --> 00:23:18.914
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:23:18.914 --> 00:23:19.334
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:23:19.334 --> 00:23:19.954
VIRGINIA: Good to know.

00:23:19.954 --> 00:23:29.114
VIRGINIA: I'm going to have to price that out because, like I said, I typically do the Amazon Prime, and that's just primarily because I have the Amazon Visa.

00:23:29.474 --> 00:23:35.634
VIRGINIA: And so I get like earned points and cash back and stuff like that.

00:23:35.814 --> 00:23:40.774
VIRGINIA: And it's just what I'm used to, and I haven't really priced around the different grocery options.

00:23:40.774 --> 00:23:41.694
VIRGINIA: So.

00:23:41.694 --> 00:23:42.414
KRISTA: Yeah, no, that's good.

00:23:42.414 --> 00:23:45.314
KRISTA: And I think, again, like being from Canada, we don't have a Target.

00:23:45.314 --> 00:23:51.174
KRISTA: So I know some people get grocery deliveries from Target, and I am Amazon Prime, but it's like
prime.ca.

00:23:51.174 --> 00:23:52.354
KRISTA: So it's a little bit different.

00:23:52.354 --> 00:23:54.374
KRISTA: We don't have the groceries on ours.

00:23:54.374 --> 00:23:57.754
KRISTA: So I would have to create something with like Prime in the US.

00:23:57.874 --> 00:24:00.374
KRISTA: So I just I haven't tried that one out yet.

00:24:00.374 --> 00:24:02.954
KRISTA: But it's nice to have a lot of options for sure.

00:24:02.954 --> 00:24:04.414
VIRGINIA: Yeah.

00:24:04.414 --> 00:24:05.574
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:24:06.794 --> 00:24:12.994
VIRGINIA: Now we've talked long enough about groceries that I can't recall if we talked about the extended evening hours or not.

00:24:12.994 --> 00:24:13.694
KRISTA: Not yet.

00:24:13.694 --> 00:24:15.434
KRISTA: I haven't made it back to Epcot yet.

00:24:15.434 --> 00:24:18.034
KRISTA: But yeah, enjoyed those those groceries for dinner.

00:24:18.034 --> 00:24:21.294
KRISTA: And then we headed back.

00:24:21.294 --> 00:24:26.514
KRISTA: I don't think from what I recall, we didn't go too too too early.

00:24:26.714 --> 00:24:30.714
KRISTA: We I think we arrived around 730 or 8.

00:24:30.714 --> 00:24:32.234
KRISTA: And the park was closing at 9.

00:24:32.234 --> 00:24:36.834
KRISTA: So I had those multi passes lined up.

00:24:36.834 --> 00:24:37.434
KRISTA: What did I have?

00:24:37.434 --> 00:24:40.474
KRISTA: Oh, I had Spaceship Earth, Nemo.

00:24:40.474 --> 00:24:41.814
KRISTA: We did Sorin.

00:24:41.814 --> 00:24:43.194
KRISTA: Oh, Frozen was a big one.

00:24:43.194 --> 00:24:45.814
KRISTA: Remy was was gone.

00:24:45.814 --> 00:24:46.054
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:24:46.054 --> 00:24:47.774
KRISTA: So Frozen, Sorin, Spaceship Earth.

00:24:47.774 --> 00:24:49.394
KRISTA: And then we did Nemo again.

00:24:49.394 --> 00:24:51.334
KRISTA: I think it was like 5, 10 minutes.

00:24:51.334 --> 00:24:52.374
KRISTA: I paid for the service.

00:24:52.374 --> 00:24:53.654
KRISTA: We're doing it.

00:24:53.654 --> 00:24:55.774
VIRGINIA: You and I are kindred spirits in that way.

00:24:56.154 --> 00:24:57.994
KRISTA: You had to feel that value, right?

00:24:57.994 --> 00:24:58.774
VIRGINIA: Right.

00:24:58.774 --> 00:24:59.414
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:24:59.414 --> 00:25:00.754
KRISTA: No, that's yeah.

00:25:00.754 --> 00:25:01.854
KRISTA: So that's exactly what we did.

00:25:01.854 --> 00:25:05.254
KRISTA: And I think a few of them were pretty low, but it's like we're doing it.

00:25:05.254 --> 00:25:06.434
KRISTA: So did that.

00:25:06.434 --> 00:25:11.954
KRISTA: And then went through Journey of Water and the extended evening hours at this point had started.

00:25:11.954 --> 00:25:19.414
KRISTA: Remy, as I said, was sold out for a multi-pass like early on, and it was consistently at around 60 minutes during extended evening hours.

00:25:19.414 --> 00:25:23.094
KRISTA: So I still, you know, want to wait for that.

00:25:23.734 --> 00:25:29.014
KRISTA: Figment is closed during extended evening hours, so we couldn't do that one either.

00:25:29.014 --> 00:25:33.994
KRISTA: I forgot about the separate virtual queue for Guardians for extended evening hours.

00:25:33.994 --> 00:25:42.734
KRISTA: So they offer that extended evening hours group, an additional virtual queue that drops at 6 p.m.

00:25:42.734 --> 00:25:43.674
KRISTA: that you can try and get.

00:25:43.674 --> 00:25:44.834
KRISTA: And I completely forgot.

00:25:44.834 --> 00:25:47.714
KRISTA: So we didn't have that option.

00:25:47.714 --> 00:25:52.014
KRISTA: So by then we had done a lot of the attractions, World Showcase isn't open.

00:25:52.674 --> 00:26:02.334
KRISTA: So we went to three Caballeros and then we headed back, I think around maybe 10, 1030.

00:26:02.334 --> 00:26:07.274
KRISTA: And really by the time, like the park closes at 9 but the fireworks start at 9.

00:26:07.274 --> 00:26:11.214
KRISTA: So there's still a lot of people filtering out of Epcot.

00:26:11.214 --> 00:26:12.754
KRISTA: And Epcot has a ton of restaurants too.

00:26:12.754 --> 00:26:16.994
KRISTA: So people that had later reservations that are staying in there to watch the fireworks.

00:26:16.994 --> 00:26:20.254
KRISTA: There was still a lot of day guests filtering out at like 10, 1030.

00:26:20.494 --> 00:26:23.574
KRISTA: So it's really nice to have.

00:26:23.574 --> 00:26:25.814
KRISTA: It's nice that they offer the extended evening hours.

00:26:25.814 --> 00:26:28.134
KRISTA: But I don't know.

00:26:28.134 --> 00:26:32.974
VIRGINIA: You don't get as much value out of Epcot extended evening hours as you do Magic Kingdom.

00:26:32.974 --> 00:26:33.674
KRISTA: Agreed.

00:26:33.674 --> 00:26:35.194
KRISTA: That's just a fact.

00:26:35.194 --> 00:26:36.394
KRISTA: Yeah, absolutely.

00:26:36.394 --> 00:26:37.794
KRISTA: So we didn't stay for the whole thing.

00:26:37.794 --> 00:26:39.174
KRISTA: But we got a lot done.

00:26:39.174 --> 00:26:41.274
KRISTA: So it was, it was good.

00:26:41.274 --> 00:26:42.354
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:26:42.354 --> 00:26:42.654
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:26:42.654 --> 00:26:45.074
VIRGINIA: Well, the next day was your big Halloween party day.

00:26:45.334 --> 00:26:51.074
VIRGINIA: So you were planning on sort of resting up for it and having some resort time.

00:26:51.074 --> 00:26:55.554
VIRGINIA: You mentioned that you were going to be doing a Dalmatian bound for this party.

00:26:55.554 --> 00:26:58.654
VIRGINIA: So how did those bounds turn out?

00:26:58.654 --> 00:27:01.954
VIRGINIA: And did they hold up to the heat?

00:27:01.954 --> 00:27:02.574
KRISTA: Yes.

00:27:02.574 --> 00:27:03.114
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:27:03.114 --> 00:27:04.954
KRISTA: So we, we did that.

00:27:04.954 --> 00:27:07.794
KRISTA: And that was part of the rest day is getting those already.

00:27:07.794 --> 00:27:13.654
KRISTA: And I mean, we go to the parties in August as much as I would love to dress up, dress up.

00:27:13.654 --> 00:27:17.694
KRISTA: It's, it's got to hold up to that heat and be comfortable.

00:27:17.694 --> 00:27:20.114
KRISTA: And there's not a lot that's comfortable in that heat.

00:27:20.114 --> 00:27:21.834
KRISTA: So it's like I need shorts on a tank top.

00:27:21.834 --> 00:27:22.714
KRISTA: So that's what we did.

00:27:22.714 --> 00:27:24.614
KRISTA: That's what we all did.

00:27:24.614 --> 00:27:31.714
KRISTA: And we had our white shirts or tank tops and just put those those black spots all over it, had the tail and the ears.

00:27:31.774 --> 00:27:34.334
KRISTA: So it was just something that I had grabbed on Amazon.

00:27:34.334 --> 00:27:37.194
KRISTA: They have Dalmatian kits and it was perfect.

00:27:37.194 --> 00:27:44.294
KRISTA: Although note to anyone who might want to try this, those the little sticky things like they couldn't peel off that ruined my shirt.

00:27:44.294 --> 00:27:48.474
KRISTA: So use a shirt that you don't care to have anymore.

00:27:48.754 --> 00:27:52.634
KRISTA: But yeah, they worked out and it was super cute, I think.

00:27:52.634 --> 00:27:56.474
KRISTA: I mean, I got my I don't know how thrilled my teenager was, but.

00:27:56.474 --> 00:28:00.074
VIRGINIA: Did you run into any Cruella's over the course of the evening?

00:28:00.074 --> 00:28:02.094
KRISTA: We did a couple of times.

00:28:02.094 --> 00:28:02.554
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:28:02.554 --> 00:28:11.054
KRISTA: So when we went into the party, they put you in that kind of backstage area to funnel the guests, the party guests in.

00:28:11.054 --> 00:28:14.634
KRISTA: And they have her out there this year, which is new.

00:28:14.634 --> 00:28:17.334
KRISTA: So there's always a lot of dalmatians at the party.

00:28:17.334 --> 00:28:18.854
KRISTA: It's just a nice, quick, easy thing.

00:28:18.854 --> 00:28:22.554
KRISTA: So but yeah, she she spotted us and called us out.

00:28:22.554 --> 00:28:23.854
VIRGINIA: Spotted you, so to speak.

00:28:27.714 --> 00:28:28.234
KRISTA: Thanks for that.

00:28:29.254 --> 00:28:36.034
KRISTA: Yeah, yeah, she's she's spotted us and, and called us over and was kind of, yeah, she was.

00:28:36.234 --> 00:28:37.394
KRISTA: It was a good interaction.

00:28:37.394 --> 00:28:41.814
KRISTA: She was bugging us and saying that she wanted us to come back with her.

00:28:41.814 --> 00:28:47.274
KRISTA: And she was being like mean to her, mean to us in her playful way, which was fine.

00:28:47.274 --> 00:28:49.194
KRISTA: And then later she was talking to you.

00:28:49.194 --> 00:28:51.754
KRISTA: She was awesome.

00:28:51.754 --> 00:28:52.954
KRISTA: I love this.

00:28:52.954 --> 00:28:54.554
VIRGINIA: These are always in my head.

00:28:54.554 --> 00:28:58.174
VIRGINIA: It's just I feel free to speak them aloud when I'm talking to you.

00:28:58.174 --> 00:29:00.294
KRISTA: Yes, I love a good pun and a bad pun.

00:29:02.134 --> 00:29:03.454
KRISTA: Yes, she definitely was.

00:29:03.454 --> 00:29:05.154
KRISTA: And then we saw her again.

00:29:05.154 --> 00:29:07.494
KRISTA: We watched the second parade from Frontierland.

00:29:07.494 --> 00:29:09.014
KRISTA: And we weren't even front row.

00:29:09.014 --> 00:29:14.234
KRISTA: We were standing like a bit back on a bit of a raised platform, I think near the trading post.

00:29:14.234 --> 00:29:18.414
KRISTA: But she saw us and Phil and I were standing there and over there.

00:29:18.414 --> 00:29:22.654
KRISTA: And she was telling her, her drivers, what are their names now?

00:29:22.654 --> 00:29:24.954
KRISTA: Anyways, she's always calling them idiots.

00:29:24.954 --> 00:29:28.754
KRISTA: But she was telling, over there, pull over, pull over.

00:29:28.754 --> 00:29:29.294
KRISTA: I see them.

00:29:29.294 --> 00:29:30.174
KRISTA: There's two of them.

00:29:30.174 --> 00:29:32.414
KRISTA: And it was it was funny.

00:29:32.414 --> 00:29:33.774
KRISTA: Yeah, she was she was good.

00:29:33.774 --> 00:29:36.094
KRISTA: The characters are always so great.

00:29:36.094 --> 00:29:37.574
VIRGINIA: How was the rest of the party?

00:29:37.574 --> 00:29:41.534
VIRGINIA: Did you end up doing the stage show?

00:29:41.534 --> 00:29:42.234
KRISTA: We did.

00:29:42.234 --> 00:29:43.674
KRISTA: Yeah, so we did do everything.

00:29:43.674 --> 00:29:44.694
KRISTA: It was a bit.

00:29:44.694 --> 00:29:46.994
KRISTA: So this was our first time at Magic Kingdom.

00:29:46.994 --> 00:29:52.054
KRISTA: And, you know, the second half of our trip when we're at the Poly was really where our Magic Kingdom days were stacked.

00:29:52.054 --> 00:29:57.734
KRISTA: So we did try and preface the party by telling the kids, like, listen, we know you really want to do rides.

00:29:57.734 --> 00:29:59.674
KRISTA: We have all this time at Magic Kingdom next week.

00:29:59.674 --> 00:30:04.294
KRISTA: So we want to do the party things that we can't do any other day.

00:30:04.294 --> 00:30:06.194
KRISTA: And they still just really want to do rides.

00:30:06.194 --> 00:30:12.294
KRISTA: So and they were kind of miserable when we weren't like, oh, like, you know, charging along like, I want to go do this.

00:30:12.294 --> 00:30:15.354
KRISTA: So it was a bit tougher.

00:30:15.354 --> 00:30:22.114
KRISTA: But we did manage to see the stage show and we saw, we watched the second parade.

00:30:22.114 --> 00:30:27.414
KRISTA: We did, I think we watched the fireworks not from in front.

00:30:27.414 --> 00:30:30.534
KRISTA: I forget where, I think we were behind.

00:30:30.534 --> 00:30:37.354
KRISTA: So we did do a lot of that stuff and then we sent them off on some rides just to make them happy and placate them.

00:30:37.354 --> 00:30:43.814
KRISTA: And then Phil and I went and got some of the specialty treats and did some of the things that you can't do otherwise.

00:30:43.814 --> 00:30:45.674
KRISTA: So it was good.

00:30:46.114 --> 00:30:49.254
KRISTA: It was a lot busier, as I said, than it was sold out.

00:30:49.254 --> 00:30:54.994
KRISTA: But I mean, we've been to sold out parties before, but it did feel really, really busy.

00:30:54.994 --> 00:31:02.274
VIRGINIA: Any favorite specialty treats that people going to the party might want to look out for?

00:31:03.814 --> 00:31:10.914
KRISTA: I mean, I went for the tombstone, just because I'm a Honda Mansion girlie and I went for that.

00:31:11.794 --> 00:31:12.494
KRISTA: It was really good.

00:31:12.634 --> 00:31:16.374
KRISTA: It was a little dry, but it was pretty delicious.

00:31:16.374 --> 00:31:20.814
KRISTA: There was a blueberry slushy that was, I mean, super refreshing in August.

00:31:20.814 --> 00:31:23.454
KRISTA: Any time you can have a slushy, that's great.

00:31:23.634 --> 00:31:27.894
KRISTA: The tombstones, they were really fun and very sweet and delicious.

00:31:27.894 --> 00:31:30.034
KRISTA: So I would recommend that one.

00:31:30.034 --> 00:31:31.374
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:31:31.374 --> 00:31:35.934
VIRGINIA: Looking forward to experiencing the Halloween party at some point in the future.

00:31:35.934 --> 00:31:45.814
VIRGINIA: Wednesday, August 21st, this was a mostly resort day, again, because you had Magic Kingdom extended evening hours here.

00:31:45.814 --> 00:31:48.954
VIRGINIA: And I think you were going to maybe hit up Animal Kingdom for a bit.

00:31:48.954 --> 00:31:54.614
VIRGINIA: So this is now going to be your third night in a row doing something on the later side.

00:31:54.614 --> 00:31:56.494
VIRGINIA: So how are you feeling?

00:31:57.874 --> 00:32:01.354
KRISTA: Starting to get tired because you're starting to get cranky.

00:32:01.354 --> 00:32:03.834
KRISTA: Yeah, I had a few late nights in a row.

00:32:03.834 --> 00:32:11.694
KRISTA: And the reason I bought multi pass for Animal Kingdom was knowing that we were going to Magic later for the extended evening hours.

00:32:11.694 --> 00:32:16.754
KRISTA: It would save us about $50 if we bought it at the cheaper park.

00:32:16.754 --> 00:32:19.754
KRISTA: And we were right around the corner from Animal Kingdom.

00:32:19.754 --> 00:32:22.254
KRISTA: So I was like, listen, I'm just I'm going to buy it for there.

00:32:22.254 --> 00:32:23.974
KRISTA: We'll wander over when we wake up.

00:32:23.974 --> 00:32:26.094
KRISTA: Do a safari as soon as I tap in for that.

00:32:26.094 --> 00:32:29.914
KRISTA: I can start modifying for Magic Kingdom later.

00:32:29.914 --> 00:32:32.194
KRISTA: So that was the that was the plan.

00:32:34.514 --> 00:32:35.034
KRISTA: We did that.

00:32:35.034 --> 00:32:35.694
KRISTA: They got up.

00:32:35.694 --> 00:32:38.354
KRISTA: I mean, there's still those first few days as tired as you are.

00:32:38.354 --> 00:32:41.954
KRISTA: There's that kind of adrenaline and excitement that's still there.

00:32:42.974 --> 00:32:45.294
KRISTA: They start fading soon, but we still had a bit of that.

00:32:45.294 --> 00:32:50.214
KRISTA: So they were up and we went over to Animal Kingdom, did the safari.

00:32:50.214 --> 00:32:51.654
KRISTA: And then I started modifying.

00:32:51.654 --> 00:32:53.634
KRISTA: The boys did Everest.

00:32:53.634 --> 00:32:57.554
KRISTA: We wandered around for a bit and then got back to the resort pretty early.

00:32:57.554 --> 00:33:01.534
KRISTA: And then we spent part of the afternoon doing some laundry, which we knew we would do.

00:33:01.534 --> 00:33:03.354
KRISTA: So it was nice to have those facilities.

00:33:03.354 --> 00:33:07.394
KRISTA: Did some laundry, tried to go to the pool, but it was raining again.

00:33:07.394 --> 00:33:13.854
KRISTA: Almost most of the days when we come back for an afternoon pool break or break, it was, you know, that Florida weather.

00:33:13.854 --> 00:33:15.094
KRISTA: You get the afternoon storms.

00:33:15.094 --> 00:33:18.954
KRISTA: So unfortunately, we couldn't swim a lot of those days.

00:33:18.954 --> 00:33:20.794
KRISTA: But at Kadani, there's so much to do.

00:33:20.794 --> 00:33:29.834
KRISTA: So the kids were talking to like some of the cultural representatives and learning about the animals, learn some games, play, did scavenger hunts, stuff like that.

00:33:31.494 --> 00:33:32.354
KRISTA: So that was fun.

00:33:32.354 --> 00:33:34.994
KRISTA: And then, yeah, we got ready to go to Magic Kingdom.

00:33:34.994 --> 00:33:36.734
KRISTA: It had cleared up.

00:33:36.734 --> 00:33:37.174
KRISTA: We got there.

00:33:37.174 --> 00:33:38.994
KRISTA: It looked like rain was coming again.

00:33:38.994 --> 00:33:44.454
KRISTA: So we started with the Carousel of Progress, which was perfect because we got out and it had poured.

00:33:44.454 --> 00:33:46.834
KRISTA: It was long enough that we missed the rain.

00:33:46.834 --> 00:33:48.974
KRISTA: So that was nice.

00:33:48.974 --> 00:33:54.594
KRISTA: And then we went to Harbor House for dinner and I had like the best sandwich I've ever had.

00:33:54.734 --> 00:33:59.794
KRISTA: So I'm vegetarian and there aren't a ton of options, especially at Magic Kingdom.

00:33:59.794 --> 00:34:03.294
KRISTA: It's like veggie dog, veggie burger, cheese pizza.

00:34:03.294 --> 00:34:04.094
KRISTA: That's about it.

00:34:04.094 --> 00:34:07.414
KRISTA: So they had like a crispy mushroom sandwich there.

00:34:07.414 --> 00:34:09.414
KRISTA: That was so amazing.

00:34:09.414 --> 00:34:13.794
KRISTA: I got it twice while we were there, tried to get it a third time and couldn't because they closed early.

00:34:13.794 --> 00:34:16.394
KRISTA: But it was delicious.

00:34:16.934 --> 00:34:18.714
VIRGINIA: Is it a portobello?

00:34:18.714 --> 00:34:22.734
KRISTA: No, they're like button mushroom, but they're tempura.

00:34:22.734 --> 00:34:24.734
KRISTA: So they're crispy mushrooms.

00:34:25.134 --> 00:34:27.494
KRISTA: I forget what the sauce is, but there's like pickles.

00:34:28.554 --> 00:34:29.554
KRISTA: It's really good.

00:34:29.554 --> 00:34:32.854
VIRGINIA: That sounds delicious to me and I'm not a vegetarian.

00:34:32.854 --> 00:34:33.854
KRISTA: It's really good.

00:34:33.874 --> 00:34:35.274
VIRGINIA: Maybe I'll give it a go.

00:34:35.274 --> 00:34:36.894
KRISTA: Yeah, definitely should.

00:34:36.894 --> 00:34:38.214
KRISTA: I hope they keep it around.

00:34:38.214 --> 00:34:40.854
KRISTA: But yeah, it was really good.

00:34:40.854 --> 00:34:50.934
KRISTA: So we did that and then just took it easy and did like Phil Her Magic, haunted Mansion, Thunder Mountain, Pirates, went on one last Jungle Cruise because it was closing for a bit.

00:34:50.934 --> 00:34:54.074
KRISTA: So we got to do Jungle Cruise again.

00:34:54.074 --> 00:35:03.994
KRISTA: Then left not long after extended hours had started because we were just tired and kids were going at each other from the last few days of being up.

00:35:03.994 --> 00:35:05.554
KRISTA: So we did that.

00:35:05.554 --> 00:35:12.654
KRISTA: But one of the things that I, well, not that I learned, but that I did that I don't think you can control.

00:35:12.874 --> 00:35:14.694
KRISTA: So it's not really a tip or a hack.

00:35:14.694 --> 00:35:20.994
KRISTA: But again, I was booking those multi passes and I was like, I'm just using them all because I bought it.

00:35:20.994 --> 00:35:25.074
KRISTA: We got out of Little Mermaid and I was like, okay, there's one right now for Barnstormer.

00:35:25.434 --> 00:35:27.974
KRISTA: Let's book it and go use that.

00:35:27.974 --> 00:35:31.714
KRISTA: By the time we walked over there, it had closed for some reason.

00:35:32.914 --> 00:35:38.654
KRISTA: So it flipped to like in any time or in any, I forget what they're called now, but I could use it anywhere.

00:35:38.654 --> 00:35:41.454
KRISTA: So we were able to go ride haunted Mansion again with that.

00:35:41.614 --> 00:35:50.594
KRISTA: But just pro tip, if there's any rides that close for inclement weather or something, grab a multi pass for that and then you can have your choice.

00:35:50.594 --> 00:35:51.194
KRISTA: Possibly.

00:35:51.194 --> 00:35:51.874
KRISTA: Possibly.

00:35:51.874 --> 00:35:55.954
KRISTA: It's not guaranteed, but I could do that a couple other times.

00:35:56.134 --> 00:36:05.414
VIRGINIA: No, I've heard about people doing that where they see weather is coming and so they book for something that will frequently close based on weather.

00:36:07.494 --> 00:36:08.394
VIRGINIA: I think it's a tip.

00:36:09.054 --> 00:36:10.414
VIRGINIA: Again, you can't control it.

00:36:10.434 --> 00:36:12.074
VIRGINIA: It may work out for you.

00:36:12.074 --> 00:36:12.814
VIRGINIA: It may not.

00:36:12.994 --> 00:36:13.574
KRISTA: It may not.

00:36:13.574 --> 00:36:17.114
KRISTA: You might be riding Barrenstormer for 26 seconds and that's...

00:36:17.114 --> 00:36:21.274
VIRGINIA: Right, but then you're done with it and you get to make another multi pass.

00:36:21.274 --> 00:36:23.414
KRISTA: That's true.

00:36:23.414 --> 00:36:25.174
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:36:25.174 --> 00:36:37.514
VIRGINIA: Thursday, August 22nd, you said it was a Hollywood Studios Day and this is one of your two table service days that you had booked a reservation, so you were supposed to have lunch at 50s prime time.

00:36:37.514 --> 00:36:47.294
VIRGINIA: And you mentioned that you had been there before on the trip with your mom, but Phil and the boys had never eaten there, correct?

00:36:47.294 --> 00:36:48.434
KRISTA: No, that's correct.

00:36:48.434 --> 00:36:49.174
KRISTA: Okay.

00:36:49.174 --> 00:36:49.534
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:36:49.534 --> 00:36:52.234
VIRGINIA: Well, walk us through your Hollywood Studios Day.

00:36:52.234 --> 00:36:55.054
KRISTA: Yeah, that was another multi pass day.

00:36:55.054 --> 00:36:56.354
KRISTA: So I had Slinky first up.

00:36:56.354 --> 00:37:00.974
KRISTA: It was pouring rain, so we were all in our ponchos and our rain gear.

00:37:01.814 --> 00:37:03.194
KRISTA: Luckily, Slinky didn't close, though.

00:37:03.194 --> 00:37:05.334
KRISTA: It was rain, not thunder and lightning.

00:37:05.334 --> 00:37:06.534
KRISTA: So we were able to go on that.

00:37:07.634 --> 00:37:10.734
KRISTA: I was getting pelted with raindrops.

00:37:10.734 --> 00:37:14.194
KRISTA: It felt like I had my eyes closed the whole ride, but it was good.

00:37:14.574 --> 00:37:21.254
KRISTA: So it was pouring rain, did Slinky, Tower of Terror, and then we went to lunch at 50s.

00:37:22.294 --> 00:37:23.994
KRISTA: And it was fine.

00:37:23.994 --> 00:37:27.734
KRISTA: I think the first time I went with my mom, I had a server that was really into it.

00:37:29.294 --> 00:37:31.494
KRISTA: Elbows off the table, just getting right into it.

00:37:31.494 --> 00:37:34.874
KRISTA: And I was like, I want somebody to yell at my kids.

00:37:34.874 --> 00:37:37.874
KRISTA: I want that experience again.

00:37:37.874 --> 00:37:41.474
KRISTA: Like, stop it, hat off, elbows off the table.

00:37:41.474 --> 00:37:44.654
KRISTA: And our server was lovely, but very young.

00:37:44.654 --> 00:37:48.954
KRISTA: And I don't think she was getting into it as much as the server we had had the previous time.

00:37:48.954 --> 00:37:50.434
KRISTA: So we didn't get any of that.

00:37:50.434 --> 00:37:52.434
KRISTA: She was great, great server.

00:37:52.434 --> 00:38:00.194
KRISTA: But we didn't get any of that, kind of, you know, the kitschy stuff that they do that makes me want to go back.

00:38:00.194 --> 00:38:02.194
KRISTA: So we didn't have any of that, unfortunately.

00:38:02.194 --> 00:38:09.214
VIRGINIA: I wish that when you made a reservation for 50s Primetime, that they had sort of a rating system.

00:38:09.214 --> 00:38:11.654
VIRGINIA: Like, how much of the kitsch do you want?

00:38:11.654 --> 00:38:14.114
VIRGINIA: None, because some people don't want it at all.

00:38:14.114 --> 00:38:17.214
VIRGINIA: Some people want a couple, like, get your elbows off the table.

00:38:17.214 --> 00:38:22.534
VIRGINIA: And some people really want you to rag the kids about eating their vegetables and all of that kind of stuff.

00:38:23.414 --> 00:38:25.974
VIRGINIA: And I think it would be an excellent feature for Disney to add.

00:38:25.974 --> 00:38:31.714
VIRGINIA: Disney, if you're listening, please let us give our level of service we want at 50s prime time.

00:38:31.714 --> 00:38:33.074
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:38:33.074 --> 00:38:34.654
KRISTA: Please get my kids in trouble for me.

00:38:34.654 --> 00:38:36.154
KRISTA: Thank you.

00:38:36.574 --> 00:38:39.094
KRISTA: I will take that box.

00:38:39.094 --> 00:38:40.094
KRISTA: Yeah, but it was good.

00:38:40.094 --> 00:38:43.374
KRISTA: I mean, and they don't really have anything for me to eat.

00:38:43.374 --> 00:38:47.914
KRISTA: So I got a couple of appetizers, but everyone else really enjoyed their food there.

00:38:47.914 --> 00:38:49.694
KRISTA: It's really good comfort food.

00:38:51.694 --> 00:38:52.794
KRISTA: So yeah, it was good.

00:38:52.794 --> 00:38:57.034
KRISTA: And then we got out of the rain, so we were able to do that.

00:38:57.034 --> 00:39:05.614
KRISTA: And then we hopped on the Skyliner over to Epcot, and I had started trying to stack a few multi-pass for over there.

00:39:06.114 --> 00:39:09.314
KRISTA: The boys had wanted to go look at the UK pavilion.

00:39:09.314 --> 00:39:13.374
KRISTA: We're Scottish, so they wanted to go look in there and maybe get some stuff.

00:39:13.374 --> 00:39:16.594
KRISTA: So we did that and stayed out of the rain a little bit more in there.

00:39:17.674 --> 00:39:24.954
KRISTA: Skyliner, by the way, in rain and wind, is kind of terrifying, but we did that, made it over there alive.

00:39:24.954 --> 00:39:29.694
KRISTA: So after we were shopping in the UK pavilion, we just did a few rides.

00:39:29.694 --> 00:39:37.774
KRISTA: Some of the ones I had stacked, did Figment, Soarin, Living with the Land, and then on our way out, we did Spaceship Earth before heading to the bus.

00:39:37.774 --> 00:39:40.214
KRISTA: And then that was our last night at Kadani.

00:39:40.214 --> 00:39:50.514
KRISTA: So we just went back to the resort for dinner and packed up our things, went to the pool, and then got my grocery order in for the Polly the next day.

00:39:50.514 --> 00:39:52.334
KRISTA: So just kind of relaxed.

00:39:52.334 --> 00:39:53.354
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:39:53.354 --> 00:39:58.694
VIRGINIA: Well, it sounds like you were ready to make the move over to the next resort.

00:39:58.694 --> 00:40:06.754
VIRGINIA: I know that you were a little concerned about the fact that the next morning you had an up close with rhinos at 11 and the checkout and all of that stuff.

00:40:06.754 --> 00:40:12.874
VIRGINIA: But it sounds like you were prepared and ready to face the next day without any issue.

00:40:13.914 --> 00:40:14.254
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:40:14.754 --> 00:40:16.434
KRISTA: It went really smoothly.

00:40:16.434 --> 00:40:20.514
KRISTA: So we got up, had all of our stuff packed.

00:40:20.514 --> 00:40:26.694
KRISTA: The few things we were still using, we threw in the bag and brought that to Bell Services and they held it for us.

00:40:26.694 --> 00:40:31.074
KRISTA: And we hopped on a bus over to Animal Kingdom for the tour.

00:40:31.274 --> 00:40:38.154
VIRGINIA: Can I ask, as somebody who's never stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge, how fast is that bus trip from the lodge over to the park?

00:40:38.154 --> 00:40:40.274
KRISTA: It feels like three minutes.

00:40:40.914 --> 00:40:42.694
KRISTA: Okay.

00:40:42.694 --> 00:40:43.354
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:40:43.354 --> 00:40:45.874
KRISTA: And part of that is because they're very cautious.

00:40:45.874 --> 00:40:47.714
KRISTA: It's a slower speed limit.

00:40:47.714 --> 00:40:49.594
KRISTA: But I feel like you could almost see it.

00:40:49.594 --> 00:40:51.134
KRISTA: Like it's very close.

00:40:51.134 --> 00:40:52.354
KRISTA: Very, very close.

00:40:52.354 --> 00:40:53.314
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:40:53.314 --> 00:40:53.774
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:40:53.774 --> 00:40:55.174
KRISTA: So that was good.

00:40:55.174 --> 00:40:59.294
KRISTA: That was the morning and we went to do the tour and checked in.

00:40:59.294 --> 00:41:00.834
KRISTA: The tour was really cool.

00:41:00.834 --> 00:41:08.474
KRISTA: I had done a few other, the Wild Africa Trek and the Caring for Giants tour before, but this was my first up close with rhinos.

00:41:08.634 --> 00:41:13.994
KRISTA: And yeah, they take you backstage and drive you to the rhino barn.

00:41:13.994 --> 00:41:16.194
KRISTA: And it's a lot of education.

00:41:16.194 --> 00:41:20.914
KRISTA: They're talking to you about the care of the rhinos and some of their habits and things like that.

00:41:20.914 --> 00:41:25.294
KRISTA: And then if you're lucky, if one's cooperating, you get to pet one.

00:41:25.294 --> 00:41:26.914
KRISTA: And he was.

00:41:26.914 --> 00:41:27.674
KRISTA: Yeah, yeah.

00:41:27.674 --> 00:41:30.754
KRISTA: So he was, they were doing some training with them.

00:41:30.754 --> 00:41:33.214
KRISTA: So he was right up against the edge of the bars.

00:41:33.214 --> 00:41:37.954
KRISTA: So we were able to put our hand through and take turns petting him, which was really cool.

00:41:38.514 --> 00:41:40.254
KRISTA: And then they drove us back.

00:41:40.254 --> 00:41:44.634
KRISTA: So it's a relatively quick, like it's a one hour tour.

00:41:44.634 --> 00:41:48.534
KRISTA: There's no photos because you're backstage, of course.

00:41:48.534 --> 00:41:53.854
KRISTA: I wish they had a photo, past photographer or somebody like getting you petting a rhino.

00:41:53.874 --> 00:41:58.314
KRISTA: Yeah, because that's something really cool.

00:41:58.314 --> 00:42:01.274
KRISTA: But they didn't, unfortunately, and we were not allowed to take pictures of it.

00:42:01.414 --> 00:42:03.094
KRISTA: So you just have to trust me.

00:42:03.094 --> 00:42:05.114
KRISTA: I've had a rhino.

00:42:05.674 --> 00:42:06.814
KRISTA: It was pretty cool.

00:42:06.814 --> 00:42:09.614
KRISTA: I think I did do a post about this too.

00:42:09.614 --> 00:42:11.514
KRISTA: And I said, like, it's a fantastic tour.

00:42:11.514 --> 00:42:13.854
KRISTA: And my youngest is seven.

00:42:15.314 --> 00:42:21.014
KRISTA: He stayed interested, I think, with the promise of like, I'm going to get to touch a rhino.

00:42:21.014 --> 00:42:28.934
KRISTA: But I don't know how many little ones would stay interested because it was just like an hour of education and learning.

00:42:28.934 --> 00:42:30.834
KRISTA: Yeah, of education, which I loved.

00:42:30.994 --> 00:42:34.554
KRISTA: I think a lot of other adults, and especially Disney adults, would love.

00:42:34.554 --> 00:42:36.974
KRISTA: But for little, little ones, I'm not sure.

00:42:36.974 --> 00:42:37.934
KRISTA: Obviously, it depends.

00:42:37.934 --> 00:42:38.654
KRISTA: They're all different.

00:42:38.654 --> 00:42:42.314
KRISTA: But, yeah, Max did OK with that promise of petting a rhino.

00:42:42.314 --> 00:42:44.074
KRISTA: So it was it was good.

00:42:44.074 --> 00:42:46.914
KRISTA: It was a yeah, it was a fun tour.

00:42:46.914 --> 00:42:56.394
KRISTA: So we yeah, we finished that up and then went back to Animal Kingdom Lodge, grabbed our bags and hopped in an Uber over to the Poly.

00:42:56.394 --> 00:43:02.894
VIRGINIA: OK, so you opted to take the bags yourself, as opposed to having Disney move them for you.

00:43:02.894 --> 00:43:05.414
VIRGINIA: Yeah, is that what you typically do in a split stay?

00:43:05.414 --> 00:43:10.434
VIRGINIA: Or was this just a decision to make your bags get there faster?

00:43:10.454 --> 00:43:12.814
KRISTA: Yeah, that it was.

00:43:12.814 --> 00:43:13.854
KRISTA: Yeah, the latter.

00:43:13.854 --> 00:43:20.434
KRISTA: We have only ever done one split stay and we had Disney take care of the bags, which is so handy.

00:43:20.434 --> 00:43:24.774
KRISTA: But they didn't arrive until I want to say between six and seven that night.

00:43:24.774 --> 00:43:26.434
KRISTA: And we had we weren't expecting that.

00:43:26.594 --> 00:43:32.774
KRISTA: So we had had some things that we wanted in the bag or we wanted to get settled or changed before the part and we couldn't.

00:43:32.774 --> 00:43:36.414
KRISTA: So this time I just said, let's just uber over and bring our things.

00:43:36.414 --> 00:43:37.594
KRISTA: So we did that.

00:43:37.594 --> 00:43:40.074
KRISTA: I requested an early check in, but it wasn't quite ready.

00:43:40.074 --> 00:43:43.054
KRISTA: I think we got there around one one thirty.

00:43:43.074 --> 00:43:51.814
KRISTA: So we just gave our bags to Bell Services there and then went to grab some lunch at Captain Cook's and we had our swim gear in backpacks.

00:43:51.814 --> 00:43:54.574
KRISTA: So the kids were able to go for a swim.

00:43:55.254 --> 00:43:56.474
KRISTA: So they did that.

00:43:56.474 --> 00:43:59.854
VIRGINIA: How was Captain Cook's for vegetarian eating?

00:43:59.854 --> 00:44:10.774
VIRGINIA: because it is maybe my favorite cook service on property, but I admittedly do not pay attention to the vegetarian offerings because I'm so enamored with the pulled pork nachos.

00:44:10.774 --> 00:44:14.734
KRISTA: Yeah, I've heard good things about those.

00:44:15.474 --> 00:44:16.134
KRISTA: It's pretty good.

00:44:16.134 --> 00:44:21.194
KRISTA: Like they have, there are two options, which is double what most places have.

00:44:21.194 --> 00:44:27.014
KRISTA: There's a really nice looking salad, and then there's the noodles that you can, they're famous noodles.

00:44:27.014 --> 00:44:28.954
KRISTA: You can add a protein, one of which is tofu.

00:44:28.954 --> 00:44:32.794
KRISTA: So that's what I had every time that we ate there.

00:44:32.794 --> 00:44:34.374
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:44:34.374 --> 00:44:37.654
VIRGINIA: Where was your room located once it was ready?

00:44:37.654 --> 00:44:47.694
KRISTA: Yeah, so it ended up being ready around 2.30, which wasn't bad, and we had booked a Lakeview room, which prior to being there, I was like, I want a Lakeview.

00:44:47.694 --> 00:44:49.574
KRISTA: How can you have a Lakeview and not a theme park view?

00:44:49.574 --> 00:44:51.374
KRISTA: because you're looking at the lake.

00:44:52.954 --> 00:44:57.734
KRISTA: Yeah, sure enough, Phil took our bags in because the kids did not want to leave the pool.

00:44:57.734 --> 00:45:03.194
KRISTA: He went and got our stuff and went to the room, and he just texted me, he's like, you have to come see this view.

00:45:03.194 --> 00:45:06.474
KRISTA: So I took the kids, I was like, dad wants to show us, let's go see.

00:45:06.474 --> 00:45:15.414
KRISTA: We were in the Morea building, and we were facing dead center, castle view, theme park view.

00:45:15.414 --> 00:45:16.314
KRISTA: It was still the Lakeview.

00:45:16.394 --> 00:45:18.834
KRISTA: We had asked for, but it was also a theme park view.

00:45:18.834 --> 00:45:20.814
KRISTA: So which was lovely.

00:45:20.814 --> 00:45:23.034
KRISTA: Like we spent so much time on that balcony.

00:45:23.034 --> 00:45:28.994
KRISTA: We could see the castle, we saw Tron and Space Mountain, we saw Thunder Mountain, we watched the Monorail go by.

00:45:28.994 --> 00:45:31.914
KRISTA: It was an absolutely beautiful view.

00:45:31.914 --> 00:45:34.394
KRISTA: And then our room was an accessible room.

00:45:34.394 --> 00:45:35.614
KRISTA: We hadn't requested that.

00:45:36.074 --> 00:45:37.334
KRISTA: We don't have a need for that.

00:45:37.334 --> 00:45:38.954
KRISTA: However, they obviously had extras.

00:45:38.954 --> 00:45:45.334
KRISTA: So they gave us an accessible room, which was, it felt a bit larger, wider spaces, wider doorways.

00:45:45.474 --> 00:45:48.214
KRISTA: So that was, that was kind of nice to have.

00:45:48.214 --> 00:45:52.014
KRISTA: And then of course, we had the fifth sleeper, which we didn't have at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

00:45:52.014 --> 00:45:56.594
KRISTA: So that was much better for the kids, not having to share a bed.

00:45:56.594 --> 00:45:59.274
KRISTA: And Max loved his little pullout.

00:45:59.274 --> 00:46:00.294
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:46:00.294 --> 00:46:12.354
KRISTA: There just, there wasn't any much storage space, which I think, I think when you were talking to Catt, she had said the same thing, is that there's no, because that whole dresser, like, I like to unpack.

00:46:12.354 --> 00:46:12.674
VIRGINIA: Right.

00:46:12.694 --> 00:46:13.654
KRISTA: And put my stuff away.

00:46:14.114 --> 00:46:16.514
VIRGINIA: It's not really a dresser, it's a bed.

00:46:16.514 --> 00:46:16.994
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:46:16.994 --> 00:46:22.314
KRISTA: And then the bed is not high enough to slide stuff under, like it is in some resorts.

00:46:22.314 --> 00:46:22.814
VIRGINIA: You know what?

00:46:22.814 --> 00:46:25.254
VIRGINIA: I think that's because you had an accessible room.

00:46:25.254 --> 00:46:26.594
KRISTA: Oh, good call.

00:46:26.594 --> 00:46:27.114
VIRGINIA: Yeah.

00:46:27.174 --> 00:46:31.074
VIRGINIA: because after she and I spoke, I actually, I was like, am I crazy?

00:46:31.074 --> 00:46:33.634
VIRGINIA: I like, I remember a drawer under the bed.

00:46:33.634 --> 00:46:36.174
VIRGINIA: It wasn't a big drawer, but it was a drawer nonetheless.

00:46:36.174 --> 00:46:42.034
VIRGINIA: And I went back and I looked at either a photo or it was like a room tour video.

00:46:44.434 --> 00:46:51.134
VIRGINIA: And the foot of the bed was big enough to slide one suitcase under each side.

00:46:51.134 --> 00:46:56.894
VIRGINIA: And then at the head end of the bed, there was one small drawer.

00:46:56.894 --> 00:46:58.694
VIRGINIA: It's very dark wood.

00:46:58.694 --> 00:47:04.774
VIRGINIA: So when I went back and looked at it, I was like, I can see how Catt maybe didn't see this.

00:47:04.774 --> 00:47:11.314
VIRGINIA: But in an accessible room, you 99 out of 100 times will have a lower bed.

00:47:11.814 --> 00:47:12.754
KRISTA: That makes sense.

00:47:12.754 --> 00:47:13.434
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:47:13.434 --> 00:47:14.934
KRISTA: Yeah, that's true.

00:47:14.934 --> 00:47:15.894
KRISTA: Yeah, that makes sense.

00:47:15.894 --> 00:47:18.654
KRISTA: But yeah, it was it was beautiful, beautiful.

00:47:18.654 --> 00:47:22.554
KRISTA: Otherwise, like we just spent so much time on that balcony.

00:47:22.554 --> 00:47:25.854
KRISTA: And that night, I think was a Halloween party.

00:47:25.854 --> 00:47:31.654
KRISTA: So we were able to watch the fireworks from our balcony and then pipe in the music.

00:47:31.654 --> 00:47:35.554
KRISTA: And it was the Halloween fireworks and we could see the castle projections.

00:47:35.554 --> 00:47:38.754
KRISTA: I mean, the top part, obviously not all of them.

00:47:38.754 --> 00:47:39.574
KRISTA: That was super cool.

00:47:39.774 --> 00:47:43.474
KRISTA: So we ended up spending a lot of time on that balcony.

00:47:43.474 --> 00:47:51.414
VIRGINIA: So it sounds like the point differential there between a lake view and a standard view could really be worth it.

00:47:51.414 --> 00:47:52.214
KRISTA: I think so.

00:47:52.214 --> 00:48:00.694
KRISTA: But again, like I'm trying to think of where you would have a lake view room looking out onto the lake that's not looking at the park.

00:48:00.694 --> 00:48:04.154
VIRGINIA: But do they have rooms that they designate as theme park view?

00:48:05.474 --> 00:48:12.394
KRISTA: Yeah, like the options to book were lake view or theme park view and then bungalow, which will never happen.

00:48:12.394 --> 00:48:14.254
KRISTA: But yeah, so I just like views.

00:48:14.254 --> 00:48:14.554
KRISTA: Fine.

00:48:14.554 --> 00:48:15.214
KRISTA: We're so close.

00:48:15.214 --> 00:48:16.094
KRISTA: We can go to the beach.

00:48:16.094 --> 00:48:18.254
KRISTA: We never wanted to go to the beach because it was a better view.

00:48:18.254 --> 00:48:19.614
KRISTA: Like we were third floor too.

00:48:19.614 --> 00:48:22.414
KRISTA: So it's a really nice view.

00:48:22.414 --> 00:48:27.954
VIRGINIA: Well, to your point, I bet that's where the lake view comes into play is here's my guess.

00:48:27.954 --> 00:48:30.634
VIRGINIA: My guess is they had extra accessible rooms.

00:48:30.634 --> 00:48:32.814
VIRGINIA: They try to fill them up if they can.

00:48:33.054 --> 00:48:37.674
VIRGINIA: And I would guess that the one that you had is actually a theme park view.

00:48:37.674 --> 00:48:43.854
VIRGINIA: And I think that the lower floors are the lake view because the bungalows block the view of the theme park.

00:48:43.854 --> 00:48:45.794
VIRGINIA: So all you can see is the lake.

00:48:45.794 --> 00:48:46.634
KRISTA: That would make sense.

00:48:46.634 --> 00:48:47.094
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:48:47.094 --> 00:48:48.494
KRISTA: Yeah, for sure.

00:48:48.534 --> 00:48:51.034
KRISTA: No, we definitely we definitely got lucky there with that one.

00:48:51.514 --> 00:48:51.954
VIRGINIA: Yeah.

00:48:51.954 --> 00:48:53.374
VIRGINIA: Yeah.

00:48:53.374 --> 00:48:54.154
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:48:54.154 --> 00:48:57.354
VIRGINIA: Anything else that day or we made it to fireworks.

00:48:57.354 --> 00:48:59.074
KRISTA: So no.

00:48:59.074 --> 00:49:00.054
KRISTA: All right.

00:49:00.054 --> 00:49:11.714
VIRGINIA: So Saturday, August the 24th, you mentioned that you might pop into Magic Kingdom, but primarily you had sort of planned for this to be a resort day.

00:49:11.714 --> 00:49:15.814
VIRGINIA: Did you end up going into any parks or did you stay at the resort the whole day?

00:49:15.814 --> 00:49:17.314
KRISTA: No, we went to Magic Kingdom.

00:49:17.314 --> 00:49:18.934
KRISTA: It's our favorite and we were so close.

00:49:19.234 --> 00:49:20.114
VIRGINIA: Oh, it was calling you.

00:49:20.114 --> 00:49:22.054
KRISTA: Yeah, it was.

00:49:22.054 --> 00:49:31.274
KRISTA: So we went in and I ended up, we decided like a little bit, maybe a week out when I was getting all the multi-passes, we're like, oh, we'll just, we'll get multi-pass that way.

00:49:31.274 --> 00:49:34.754
KRISTA: We can go in that much quicker and bang out a bunch of rides and get back.

00:49:35.334 --> 00:49:39.314
KRISTA: So we did that and I got a Tron virtual queue.

00:49:39.314 --> 00:49:45.454
KRISTA: I got group six, which is good, not my best, but I got us an early Tron virtual queue.

00:49:45.454 --> 00:49:46.834
KRISTA: So we went over for that.

00:49:47.034 --> 00:49:51.314
KRISTA: I had a Tiana's that I had pre-booked as part of my multi-pass.

00:49:51.314 --> 00:49:53.234
VIRGINIA: How did you enjoy Tiana's?

00:49:53.234 --> 00:50:00.394
KRISTA: When we finally went on it, it was down more often than it was up while we were there, but it was good.

00:50:00.394 --> 00:50:01.654
KRISTA: It was very cute.

00:50:01.654 --> 00:50:05.574
KRISTA: I think they missed an opportunity to have a villain, like Dr.

00:50:05.574 --> 00:50:06.974
KRISTA: Facilier on there.

00:50:06.974 --> 00:50:08.254
VIRGINIA: Oh, they don't?

00:50:08.254 --> 00:50:08.914
KRISTA: They don't.

00:50:08.914 --> 00:50:15.134
VIRGINIA: I mean, I guess he kind of goes away in the movie and the storyline of Tiana's is after, so okay, fine.

00:50:15.314 --> 00:50:16.654
KRISTA: Yeah, so it's tough.

00:50:16.654 --> 00:50:17.154
KRISTA: I get it.

00:50:17.154 --> 00:50:17.694
KRISTA: I get it.

00:50:17.694 --> 00:50:20.474
KRISTA: But yeah, there's no danger.

00:50:20.474 --> 00:50:22.614
KRISTA: There's no villain.

00:50:24.754 --> 00:50:32.014
KRISTA: You get shrunk to the size of a frog and you get to play with them, and then you go on the other drop and yeah, you're turned back.

00:50:32.954 --> 00:50:33.714
KRISTA: So it's super cute.

00:50:33.714 --> 00:50:35.274
KRISTA: The animatronics are amazing.

00:50:35.594 --> 00:50:37.994
KRISTA: It's visually just stunning.

00:50:37.994 --> 00:50:39.514
KRISTA: So it's wonderful.

00:50:39.514 --> 00:50:40.454
KRISTA: I love the re-theme.

00:50:40.714 --> 00:50:46.454
KRISTA: I wish there was some type of villain or scariness in there, but I think that's just my preferences coming through.

00:50:46.454 --> 00:50:49.074
KRISTA: But it's really cool.

00:50:49.074 --> 00:50:49.214
KRISTA: Nice.

00:50:49.214 --> 00:50:51.094
KRISTA: It's very cute.

00:50:51.094 --> 00:50:53.034
KRISTA: But it was down again that day.

00:50:53.034 --> 00:50:56.814
KRISTA: So that multi-pass got flipped into an anytime use.

00:50:56.814 --> 00:51:02.734
KRISTA: So we set that aside and figured we'd write it whenever we saw it up.

00:51:03.994 --> 00:51:06.034
KRISTA: Then we just did haunted Mansion.

00:51:06.754 --> 00:51:10.434
KRISTA: Oh yeah, because Tiana's had been down so far two of the three days we were there.

00:51:10.434 --> 00:51:16.074
KRISTA: Actually, the previous night that we were at Magic Kingdom, we saw people getting evacuated.

00:51:16.074 --> 00:51:20.354
KRISTA: We saw the boat stopped on the hill and we helped down the stairs.

00:51:20.354 --> 00:51:22.174
KRISTA: We wanted to save our anytime pass.

00:51:22.174 --> 00:51:24.194
KRISTA: It would be so beautiful to try it at night.

00:51:24.194 --> 00:51:25.854
KRISTA: Let's see if we can.

00:51:25.854 --> 00:51:26.754
KRISTA: You know what?

00:51:26.754 --> 00:51:35.134
KRISTA: If we save it for after dark and it goes down again or it still goes down, it's been down so much, we should just use it whenever we see it back up.

00:51:35.594 --> 00:51:40.414
KRISTA: So we did and we ended up getting to use it.

00:51:40.414 --> 00:51:47.994
KRISTA: Then we stacked all our multi passes for the evening, then went back to swim and have lunch.

00:51:47.994 --> 00:51:53.914
KRISTA: After riding Tiana's, we did a few more rides at the park after lunch.

00:51:53.914 --> 00:52:00.174
KRISTA: Then we went back closer to dinner, sorry, after our swim and then did some more rides.

00:52:00.174 --> 00:52:10.394
KRISTA: Then I left the boys there at Magic Kingdom to go over to Hollywood Studios to meet up with Kelley, Daina, Mark, Arielle, Kristina and Brian again.

00:52:10.394 --> 00:52:13.854
KRISTA: There was a lightsaber meet up at Hollywood Studios that night.

00:52:14.714 --> 00:52:16.754
KRISTA: Yeah, it was super fun.

00:52:16.754 --> 00:52:20.054
KRISTA: It was hosted by the Galaxy's Edge Discord.

00:52:20.054 --> 00:52:25.394
KRISTA: We just met up at Hollywood Studios and had dinner and hung out for a bit until it started.

00:52:25.394 --> 00:52:27.234
KRISTA: It started around 8.45.

00:52:27.434 --> 00:52:30.454
VIRGINIA: Wait, did you have a lightsaber with you?

00:52:30.454 --> 00:52:31.314
KRISTA: I did not.

00:52:32.134 --> 00:52:40.614
KRISTA: We have a ton I could have brought, but I thought, oh my gosh, to put that in the suitcase, it's always such a headache just getting them home and now I'm bringing one back.

00:52:40.614 --> 00:52:47.234
KRISTA: So Kelley, Mission Magic was kind enough to bring me an extra one, so I had an extra lightsaber.

00:52:48.774 --> 00:52:54.434
KRISTA: Unlike Guardians where I just pretended and then went out the chicken exit, I didn't want to fake it this time.

00:52:54.434 --> 00:52:57.514
KRISTA: So yeah, I had a lightsaber and then we went to that.

00:52:58.074 --> 00:53:05.814
KRISTA: It was really neat how this group does it, and Disney stayed open, and there was so many people that we were broken up into groups.

00:53:05.814 --> 00:53:14.934
KRISTA: So we just went and got a picture in front of Kylo Ren's ship, and then made our way down to the Falcon, and then a big huge group shot after that.

00:53:14.934 --> 00:53:19.394
KRISTA: But it was really neat to see that many other Star Wars fans there, and all those lightsabers.

00:53:19.394 --> 00:53:24.874
KRISTA: It was a cool experience, and then just to hang out with some awesome people again was a lot of fun.

00:53:24.874 --> 00:53:34.554
KRISTA: So yeah, that's what I did to end my Saturday night, and Phil and the boys stayed, did a few more rides at Magic Kingdom, and then went back for more of that pool and balcony.

00:53:34.554 --> 00:53:39.954
KRISTA: And I think they watched the fireworks from the pool that night, they said, which was fun.

00:53:39.954 --> 00:53:40.314
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:53:40.314 --> 00:53:49.674
VIRGINIA: Sunday, August the 25th was a wild card day, because when we spoke last, you had absolutely no plans for that day, and we're kind of leaving it up in the air.

00:53:49.674 --> 00:53:52.334
VIRGINIA: So what did you end up doing?

00:53:52.334 --> 00:53:54.914
KRISTA: The Magic Kingdom was calling again.

00:53:54.914 --> 00:53:56.134
KRISTA: We got up and looked at the castle.

00:53:56.134 --> 00:53:57.954
VIRGINIA: The Magic was calling, literally.

00:54:00.474 --> 00:54:03.114
KRISTA: So we ended up going back over there.

00:54:03.114 --> 00:54:08.094
KRISTA: I forgot right at 7, I forgot about the Virtual Cue for Tron.

00:54:08.094 --> 00:54:10.034
KRISTA: So I was like, oh crap, it's like 7.02.

00:54:10.034 --> 00:54:14.054
KRISTA: So I ended up pulling, I think, group 62 or something like that.

00:54:14.054 --> 00:54:21.994
KRISTA: So I got that all set up and then went over to the park, went to Gaston's because I had never had the famous cinnamon roll.

00:54:21.994 --> 00:54:22.994
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:54:22.994 --> 00:54:30.474
KRISTA: So went to get one of those, and then I saw a creme brulee croissant, which I feel like people were holding out on.

00:54:31.014 --> 00:54:32.914
KRISTA: That was amazing.

00:54:32.914 --> 00:54:33.414
VIRGINIA: Really?

00:54:33.414 --> 00:54:35.054
VIRGINIA: And it's also at Gaston's?

00:54:35.054 --> 00:54:35.894
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:54:35.894 --> 00:54:36.274
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:54:36.274 --> 00:54:39.394
VIRGINIA: So you got that instead of the cinnamon roll or you got both?

00:54:39.394 --> 00:54:40.474
KRISTA: We got both.

00:54:41.214 --> 00:54:43.294
KRISTA: Everyone raves about the cinnamon roll.

00:54:43.294 --> 00:54:44.854
KRISTA: I want to try it and it was good.

00:54:44.854 --> 00:54:45.734
KRISTA: It was a bit dry.

00:54:45.734 --> 00:54:46.614
KRISTA: It was good.

00:54:46.614 --> 00:54:49.034
VIRGINIA: Did you ask for extra icing on the side?

00:54:49.034 --> 00:54:49.874
KRISTA: I did not.

00:54:49.874 --> 00:54:50.554
VIRGINIA: That's the tip.

00:54:50.554 --> 00:54:51.974
VIRGINIA: They will give you free extra icing.

00:54:51.974 --> 00:54:53.374
VIRGINIA: You just have to ask for it.

00:54:53.374 --> 00:54:54.214
KRISTA: Okay.

00:54:54.214 --> 00:54:58.354
KRISTA: I have to try that next time, but I feel like I need to go back for this crème brûlée croissant.

00:54:58.354 --> 00:54:59.534
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:54:59.534 --> 00:55:00.494
KRISTA: It was amazing.

00:55:00.494 --> 00:55:03.774
KRISTA: They had the top layer of a crème brûlée that you crack.

00:55:03.774 --> 00:55:04.654
VIRGINIA: You crack, yeah.

00:55:04.654 --> 00:55:08.674
KRISTA: The sugar, that was on top of the croissant.

00:55:08.674 --> 00:55:14.394
KRISTA: That layer of hard sugar was on top and then it was filled with crème brûlée.

00:55:14.394 --> 00:55:15.334
KRISTA: Oh my God.

00:55:15.334 --> 00:55:16.574
KRISTA: It was messy.

00:55:16.574 --> 00:55:19.894
KRISTA: You could not walk around and you need at least a dozen napkins.

00:55:19.894 --> 00:55:22.534
KRISTA: It was very messy, but it was so good.

00:55:23.734 --> 00:55:24.094
VIRGINIA: Yeah.

00:55:24.094 --> 00:55:27.414
VIRGINIA: I'm going to have to look that up because I do love a good crème brûlée.

00:55:27.414 --> 00:55:27.934
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:55:27.934 --> 00:55:31.454
VIRGINIA: Have you ever had crème brûlée at Topolino's?

00:55:31.454 --> 00:55:31.774
KRISTA: No.

00:55:32.274 --> 00:55:34.794
KRISTA: I've been there twice, but for breakfast.

00:55:34.794 --> 00:55:38.634
VIRGINIA: If you ever go for dinner, make sure you get the crème brûlée to die for.

00:55:38.634 --> 00:55:38.934
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:55:38.934 --> 00:55:39.334
KRISTA: Okay.

00:55:39.334 --> 00:55:42.394
KRISTA: I love a great crème brûlée, so yeah.

00:55:42.394 --> 00:55:43.174
KRISTA: Okay.

00:55:43.174 --> 00:55:43.574
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:55:43.574 --> 00:55:45.494
VIRGINIA: What else did you do that day?

00:55:47.674 --> 00:55:50.914
KRISTA: We did a few smaller rides in the morning.

00:55:51.154 --> 00:55:58.414
KRISTA: Had that food and then went back to Harbor House for lunch because I needed that mushroom sandwich again.

00:55:58.414 --> 00:56:03.674
KRISTA: Then Tron was called around 1.30, so we went and did that.

00:56:03.674 --> 00:56:06.794
KRISTA: Then I was able to join the virtual queue for Tiana's.

00:56:06.794 --> 00:56:11.214
KRISTA: The one o'clock drop hadn't filled up yet as of 1.30.

00:56:11.214 --> 00:56:15.374
KRISTA: I got a virtual queue for Tiana's for later in the day.

00:56:15.374 --> 00:56:22.714
KRISTA: Then we went back to rest and swim, but there was inclement weather in the area, so the pool was closed again.

00:56:22.714 --> 00:56:28.494
KRISTA: So we just kind of hung out in the room and relaxed a bit.

00:56:28.494 --> 00:56:40.174
KRISTA: It's definitely different being in a resort where there's separate buildings as opposed to Kadani where we could just like wander down the hall and go into the lobby and talk to the cultural representatives and do activities.

00:56:40.174 --> 00:56:44.434
KRISTA: It was like, do we want to walk all the way to the lobby and get stuck in this weather?

00:56:46.114 --> 00:56:49.294
KRISTA: So just hang out in the room and relaxed, which was fine.

00:56:49.534 --> 00:56:59.834
KRISTA: And then while I was in there, I was surfing on my phone and I was noticing that Jyll, playing Disney with Jyll, she was also posting from the Polynesian.

00:56:59.834 --> 00:57:02.154
KRISTA: So we got chatting, I'm here too, I'm here too.

00:57:02.154 --> 00:57:10.174
KRISTA: And then realized that not only are we both at the Polynesian, but we're both in the same building, on the same floor, in the same hallway.

00:57:12.234 --> 00:57:13.394
VIRGINIA: Wait, were you in the same room?

00:57:15.734 --> 00:57:19.094
KRISTA: The call was coming from inside the room.

00:57:19.094 --> 00:57:21.854
KRISTA: The room was that big.

00:57:21.854 --> 00:57:23.334
KRISTA: Yeah, so I was like, what are the odds?

00:57:23.334 --> 00:57:31.594
KRISTA: We were both back at the room relaxing, so we popped out into the hallway and said hi in real life, which was fun.

00:57:31.594 --> 00:57:32.654
KRISTA: Again, what are the odds?

00:57:33.194 --> 00:57:34.174
KRISTA: Got to say hi.

00:57:34.754 --> 00:57:52.034
KRISTA: So yeah, we just had a chat for a few minutes and took a picture and then, yeah, went back to, waited out the rain and went back to the park for a little bit and tried to did a few more rides and we were tired because it had been a long several days.

00:57:52.034 --> 00:57:57.734
KRISTA: So we ended up canceling the virtual queue that I had pulled for Tiana's.

00:57:57.734 --> 00:58:03.414
KRISTA: So I canceled that and then we just went back to watch the fireworks from the pool again and then just called it a night.

00:58:05.794 --> 00:58:08.474
VIRGINIA: You haven't mentioned any dole whips yet at Polynesian.

00:58:08.474 --> 00:58:12.594
VIRGINIA: Were you taking advantage of the easy access to dole whips?

00:58:12.594 --> 00:58:13.274
KRISTA: I did.

00:58:13.894 --> 00:58:15.534
KRISTA: I should have written that down at my notes.

00:58:15.534 --> 00:58:16.434
KRISTA: I did.

00:58:16.434 --> 00:58:22.274
KRISTA: Very first day, I think while we were waiting for our room, I went and got a dole whip and it was lovely.

00:58:23.554 --> 00:58:24.654
KRISTA: Yeah, for sure.

00:58:24.654 --> 00:58:31.434
KRISTA: Then the poolside drinks with the fun and the waffles and then it was definitely had a dole whip.

00:58:31.654 --> 00:58:35.814
KRISTA: That famous, oh my gosh, the bread pudding.

00:58:35.814 --> 00:58:39.874
KRISTA: I think it's at Ohana, but you can get it from Kornakafé.

00:58:39.874 --> 00:58:40.354
VIRGINIA: Yeah.

00:58:40.354 --> 00:58:44.274
VIRGINIA: Well, you can also, I think, order it at, what is it, Tamu Tamu?

00:58:44.274 --> 00:58:46.634
VIRGINIA: Is that the name of the bar right outside of Ohana?

00:58:47.714 --> 00:58:48.094
KRISTA: Okay.

00:58:48.094 --> 00:58:48.754
KRISTA: Maybe that's right.

00:58:48.754 --> 00:58:49.314
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:58:49.314 --> 00:58:55.074
KRISTA: I was able to mobile order it one day and oh my god, that was, yeah.

00:58:55.074 --> 00:58:56.194
KRISTA: That lived up to the hype.

00:58:56.194 --> 00:58:56.814
KRISTA: That was good.

00:58:56.914 --> 00:58:57.154
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:58:57.154 --> 00:59:00.434
KRISTA: I was eating all the Polynesian things for sure.

00:59:00.434 --> 00:59:01.334
VIRGINIA: Yeah.

00:59:01.334 --> 00:59:04.774
VIRGINIA: You're making me want to get back to the Polynesian.

00:59:04.774 --> 00:59:06.394
VIRGINIA: So good.

00:59:06.394 --> 00:59:07.494
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:59:07.494 --> 00:59:17.374
VIRGINIA: Well, the next day was Monday, August 26th and you had, speaking of Ohana, plans to have brunch there.

00:59:17.374 --> 00:59:17.954
KRISTA: Yeah.

00:59:18.094 --> 00:59:19.274
KRISTA: How was that?

00:59:19.274 --> 00:59:20.334
KRISTA: That was fun.

00:59:20.334 --> 00:59:20.934
KRISTA: That was fun.

00:59:22.374 --> 00:59:25.394
KRISTA: We went in, I think, around 11.30 for brunch.

00:59:25.394 --> 00:59:30.234
KRISTA: It's always a good time there and they have a nice plant-based breakfast offering, which is good.

00:59:30.234 --> 00:59:36.054
KRISTA: I feel like I get more bang for my buck out of breakfast offerings when I go to table service.

00:59:36.054 --> 00:59:36.654
KRISTA: But it was good.

00:59:37.074 --> 00:59:41.694
KRISTA: But we did finish relatively quick because they bring the stuff out pretty quick.

00:59:42.554 --> 00:59:44.934
KRISTA: So we were done our meal and hadn't seen a single character.

00:59:44.934 --> 00:59:47.734
KRISTA: I think we probably just got in on the wrong end of the timing.

00:59:47.734 --> 00:59:52.234
KRISTA: So we had to sit for about 45 minutes after we finished.

00:59:52.634 --> 00:59:54.274
KRISTA: Oh my goodness.

00:59:54.274 --> 00:59:56.634
KRISTA: Just to wait for the rest to see.

00:59:57.594 --> 01:00:01.254
VIRGINIA: Did you say anything to that?

01:00:01.254 --> 01:00:11.794
VIRGINIA: because I feel like if you said something, like we're done eating, we haven't seen any characters, maybe they would have kind of had them come to you first before they started going around to other tables.

01:00:11.794 --> 01:00:13.294
KRISTA: Yeah, maybe.

01:00:13.294 --> 01:00:15.054
KRISTA: I always feel bad.

01:00:15.774 --> 01:00:16.854
KRISTA: I don't know.

01:00:16.854 --> 01:00:21.494
VIRGINIA: Well, I mean, as long as you do it in a nice way, I mean.

01:00:21.494 --> 01:00:21.914
KRISTA: Yes.

01:00:21.914 --> 01:00:22.534
KRISTA: No, for sure.

01:00:22.534 --> 01:00:24.774
VIRGINIA: And then they turn over the table quicker.

01:00:24.774 --> 01:00:27.854
VIRGINIA: So it benefits them too if you say something.

01:00:27.854 --> 01:00:28.474
KRISTA: That's true.

01:00:28.474 --> 01:00:28.754
KRISTA: Yeah.

01:00:28.754 --> 01:00:35.754
KRISTA: because I sometimes feel like it's that get them in, get them out mentality with the speed of things, but then we sat for so long.

01:00:35.754 --> 01:00:46.394
VIRGINIA: That's a frequent complaint that I hear about Ohana specifically, is how quickly they bring your food, sometimes even bringing it before your beverages have made it to your table.

01:00:46.394 --> 01:00:46.974
KRISTA: Yeah.

01:00:48.394 --> 01:00:52.474
VIRGINIA: And I don't know, that it just feels like you're being rushed.

01:00:52.474 --> 01:00:58.314
VIRGINIA: But what is the point of that if you're then going to have to sit there and wait for characters?

01:00:58.314 --> 01:00:58.814
KRISTA: Yeah.

01:00:58.814 --> 01:00:59.534
KRISTA: No, absolutely.

01:00:59.534 --> 01:01:02.674
KRISTA: And I've been to character dining where the servers, have you seen everyone?

01:01:02.674 --> 01:01:03.774
KRISTA: Who do you have to see?

01:01:03.774 --> 01:01:04.594
KRISTA: And they'll check in.

01:01:06.334 --> 01:01:07.334
KRISTA: But yeah, she did.

01:01:07.334 --> 01:01:10.994
KRISTA: We had the bill before, like while we were kind of still munching on things.

01:01:10.994 --> 01:01:12.634
KRISTA: So it was clear like they wanted us out.

01:01:12.634 --> 01:01:13.954
KRISTA: But it was like, I'm good.

01:01:13.954 --> 01:01:15.734
KRISTA: We haven't seen any characters yet.

01:01:15.734 --> 01:01:17.494
KRISTA: So, right.

01:01:17.534 --> 01:01:18.734
KRISTA: Yeah, I probably should.

01:01:18.734 --> 01:01:24.314
KRISTA: I just always feel awkward, but I probably should mention it if ever that happens again.

01:01:24.314 --> 01:01:28.174
KRISTA: But yeah, we had to sit there, which is boring for the kids.

01:01:28.394 --> 01:01:31.334
KRISTA: But again, I made for this character dining.

01:01:31.334 --> 01:01:34.694
KRISTA: We're seeing all the characters even though we've seen them before.

01:01:34.694 --> 01:01:41.314
KRISTA: So we waited and yeah, within about 45 minutes, we got to see everyone and it's always fun.

01:01:41.314 --> 01:01:43.234
KRISTA: So I think, was that the day?

01:01:43.234 --> 01:01:47.734
KRISTA: I think it was National Dog Day, that day that I had found out randomly.

01:01:48.874 --> 01:01:54.454
KRISTA: So we got to wish a happy National Dog Day to Pluto and reminded Mickey to get him a big bone.

01:01:54.934 --> 01:01:57.254
KRISTA: And yeah, it was so cute.

01:01:57.254 --> 01:01:59.374
KRISTA: It was fun to see all the characters.

01:01:59.374 --> 01:02:02.014
KRISTA: And my youngest has decided Stitch is his new favorite.

01:02:02.014 --> 01:02:05.254
KRISTA: So that's kind of what I booked Ohana.

01:02:05.274 --> 01:02:06.594
KRISTA: So yeah, it was fun.

01:02:06.914 --> 01:02:07.594
KRISTA: It was good.

01:02:07.594 --> 01:02:11.754
KRISTA: It was just, it was a little long, but you know, what can you do?

01:02:11.754 --> 01:02:15.214
VIRGINIA: That's kind of an odd combination of characters, right?

01:02:15.214 --> 01:02:20.054
VIRGINIA: Like Mickey, Pluto, Stitch and Lilo.

01:02:20.054 --> 01:02:20.614
KRISTA: Yeah.

01:02:20.614 --> 01:02:24.474
VIRGINIA: I don't know what characters I would put in place of Mickey and Pluto.

01:02:24.474 --> 01:02:26.714
VIRGINIA: And of course, those are big characters.

01:02:26.714 --> 01:02:27.534
VIRGINIA: You want to meet them too.

01:02:27.534 --> 01:02:28.294
VIRGINIA: I just, I don't know.

01:02:28.294 --> 01:02:35.014
VIRGINIA: It just feels like a little weird pairing because they would never meet in any other place.

01:02:35.014 --> 01:02:35.994
VIRGINIA: I don't know.

01:02:35.994 --> 01:02:36.814
KRISTA: No, you're right.

01:02:36.814 --> 01:02:41.334
KRISTA: But yeah, I don't know who you're placing with, but you are right for sure.

01:02:42.274 --> 01:02:42.514
VIRGINIA: All right.

01:02:42.514 --> 01:02:44.054
VIRGINIA: What did you do with the rest of your day?

01:02:44.054 --> 01:02:49.514
VIRGINIA: because I know this was another extended evening at Epcot Day, but you had already done one of those.

01:02:49.614 --> 01:02:53.074
VIRGINIA: So did you try to make it to the second one?

01:02:53.074 --> 01:02:54.914
KRISTA: We didn't.

01:02:55.294 --> 01:03:00.454
KRISTA: We went, but we ended up just relaxing for much of the day.

01:03:00.454 --> 01:03:10.014
KRISTA: Then after brunch around one o'clock, they started an activity that, I'm going to say this wrong, but Kukai Nut Lays, was the resort activity.

01:03:10.014 --> 01:03:13.374
KRISTA: We got to make our own lay and it was really, really cool.

01:03:14.114 --> 01:03:23.054
KRISTA: We went and did that and then we took the monorail to the Grand Floridian because the boys love basin and all the soaps and the bath bombs there.

01:03:23.054 --> 01:03:28.914
KRISTA: So we went ridiculous amount, like shipped home because we couldn't fit them in our suitcases.

01:03:29.954 --> 01:03:41.094
KRISTA: Then just waited out the rain and went back to the pool and had dinner poolside and then there was like, we roasted marshmallows by the fire, which is at the beach with the view of the castle.

01:03:41.094 --> 01:03:43.694
KRISTA: So probably the best place to roast marshmallows.

01:03:45.334 --> 01:03:49.674
KRISTA: And then there was a glow party that night.

01:03:49.674 --> 01:03:51.114
VIRGINIA: What's a glow party for the kids?

01:03:51.114 --> 01:03:53.074
KRISTA: It was just like a bunch of different activities.

01:03:53.074 --> 01:03:59.414
KRISTA: They had glow in the dark hula hoops and limbo and a dance party on the lawn for the kids.

01:03:59.414 --> 01:04:01.094
KRISTA: So we did that.

01:04:01.094 --> 01:04:09.194
KRISTA: And we had decided we didn't really need to go back to Epcot for the extended evening hours because we had done everything.

01:04:09.194 --> 01:04:13.034
KRISTA: And as you know, and we discussed, it's not necessarily worth it.

01:04:14.014 --> 01:04:15.254
KRISTA: Just to get more tired.

01:04:15.254 --> 01:04:24.554
KRISTA: But because I missed the virtual queue last time for Guardians, my oldest wanted to ride Guardians because I didn't think we'd be back to Epcot at all.

01:04:24.554 --> 01:04:27.814
KRISTA: So I did at six o'clock get us a virtual queue.

01:04:27.814 --> 01:04:42.154
KRISTA: So we watched the fireworks from our balcony after the glow party, watched the fireworks together, and then we walked to the TTC because we were only like a three-minute walk and hopped on a monorail over to Epcot, just to do that virtual queue for Guardians.

01:04:43.874 --> 01:04:48.134
KRISTA: So they did that and I wandered around while they were on there.

01:04:48.134 --> 01:04:54.594
KRISTA: My youngest, he's done Guardians before, but he came off close to tears and was like, I hated it, never again.

01:04:54.594 --> 01:04:55.514
KRISTA: I was like, okay.

01:04:55.514 --> 01:04:55.854
VIRGINIA: All right.

01:04:55.854 --> 01:05:01.714
VIRGINIA: So Tuesday, August the 27th, you had planned to hang out with Sachi and Forty.

01:05:01.714 --> 01:05:02.694
KRISTA: Yes.

01:05:02.694 --> 01:05:03.014
VIRGINIA: Yeah.

01:05:03.014 --> 01:05:03.974
VIRGINIA: What did you do together?

01:05:05.814 --> 01:05:05.994
KRISTA: Yeah.

01:05:05.994 --> 01:05:10.814
KRISTA: So I went to Disney Springs that morning just to get my Gideon's Hall.

01:05:10.814 --> 01:05:19.194
KRISTA: So I had some cookies, went and got those, and then I went and got some snacks before everyone came over.

01:05:19.194 --> 01:05:27.614
KRISTA: So the Polynesian has the Pog juice macarons, and then they had a seasonal like stitch vampire cake.

01:05:27.614 --> 01:05:33.234
KRISTA: So I went and got a couple of those to have with the kids and the adults when they came over.

01:05:33.694 --> 01:05:37.454
KRISTA: And then I went and lined up for Trader Sam's, because we all wanted to try that.

01:05:37.454 --> 01:05:44.274
KRISTA: So Sashi and Forty were coming, and then Kristina, World Showcase Adventures, was coming back with Arielle, simply meant to be at Disney.

01:05:44.274 --> 01:05:50.554
KRISTA: So I went and got a spot on the wait list, a Trader Sam's for all eight of us.

01:05:50.554 --> 01:05:58.194
KRISTA: And then, yeah, and then they arrived, and Sashi brought some more goodies because they were staying at French Quarter.

01:05:58.194 --> 01:06:01.414
KRISTA: So she brought some of the haunted Mansion beignets.

01:06:02.294 --> 01:06:03.454
KRISTA: And some more goodies.

01:06:03.454 --> 01:06:04.714
KRISTA: They were so good.

01:06:04.714 --> 01:06:12.634
KRISTA: So we sat for a bit inside the Polynesian and just chatted and had a whole bunch of different snacks.

01:06:12.634 --> 01:06:14.494
KRISTA: And then we went outside and wandered around for a bit.

01:06:14.494 --> 01:06:17.914
KRISTA: And then we were called for Trader Sam's, I think around 4.30-ish.

01:06:18.974 --> 01:06:20.074
KRISTA: So we all went there.

01:06:20.074 --> 01:06:21.654
KRISTA: None of us had been there before.

01:06:21.654 --> 01:06:23.034
KRISTA: It was our first time.

01:06:23.694 --> 01:06:25.534
KRISTA: And it was neat.

01:06:25.534 --> 01:06:34.674
KRISTA: But we all kind of agreed that it was a bit overrated, a little overpriced and overrated for what you got.

01:06:34.674 --> 01:06:36.614
KRISTA: It was neat.

01:06:36.614 --> 01:06:42.294
KRISTA: But again, I think because we were there also trying to have conversation, it was very dark and very loud.

01:06:42.314 --> 01:06:45.574
KRISTA: And our server wasn't...

01:06:45.574 --> 01:06:47.414
KRISTA: She yelled at us because we moved.

01:06:47.414 --> 01:06:49.974
KRISTA: And it wasn't the best experience.

01:06:51.094 --> 01:06:56.414
VIRGINIA: Like yelled at you, yelled at you, or yelled at you in the 50s primetime sort of way?

01:06:56.414 --> 01:06:59.234
KRISTA: Probably, yeah, 50s primetime, not a raised voice.

01:07:00.034 --> 01:07:01.834
KRISTA: But not sarcastic.

01:07:01.834 --> 01:07:03.674
KRISTA: We had been split up because there was eight of us.

01:07:03.674 --> 01:07:05.094
KRISTA: We had split up four and four.

01:07:05.094 --> 01:07:05.994
KRISTA: We were like, that's fine.

01:07:05.994 --> 01:07:08.814
KRISTA: The four kids can have a kids table.

01:07:08.814 --> 01:07:13.394
KRISTA: But then they put us with another group who were finishing.

01:07:13.394 --> 01:07:14.194
KRISTA: They were paying their bills.

01:07:14.194 --> 01:07:22.554
KRISTA: So when they left, we asked the hosts, can the kids now move over and we can all be together rather than seating more strangers?

01:07:22.554 --> 01:07:25.274
KRISTA: They were like, yeah, sure, no problem.

01:07:25.274 --> 01:07:27.754
KRISTA: We told the kids to come over and I guess she didn't realize that.

01:07:27.754 --> 01:07:36.814
KRISTA: She's like, okay, from here on out, we're not going to be moving anymore because it really messes things up and got us in trouble and reprimanded us a bit.

01:07:36.814 --> 01:07:40.114
KRISTA: We were like, no, no, we wouldn't do that without asking.

01:07:40.114 --> 01:07:42.454
KRISTA: We went and asked them, oh, okay, well, they didn't tell me that.

01:07:43.854 --> 01:07:46.634
VIRGINIA: Okay, that's not your problem.

01:07:46.634 --> 01:07:47.114
KRISTA: Yeah.

01:07:47.474 --> 01:07:54.254
VIRGINIA: I mean, I hope that her intention was good.

01:07:54.274 --> 01:07:55.094
KRISTA: I think so.

01:07:55.094 --> 01:07:56.274
KRISTA: Yeah, probably just.

01:07:57.214 --> 01:08:04.374
KRISTA: I've worked in that industry before, so maybe just, there's probably a lot of people that do things that throw off your day.

01:08:04.374 --> 01:08:09.094
KRISTA: But it just kind of set the tone a little bit.

01:08:09.094 --> 01:08:11.674
KRISTA: And yeah, but so the drinks were good.

01:08:11.674 --> 01:08:20.374
VIRGINIA: To me, the reaction should be, oh, you asked and said, okay, I'll make sure to speak to them so that they remember to tell me next time.

01:08:20.534 --> 01:08:23.734
VIRGINIA: You know, like, yeah, for sure.

01:08:23.734 --> 01:08:26.914
VIRGINIA: Anyway, on with the drink review.

01:08:26.914 --> 01:08:36.434
KRISTA: Know that it just kind of kind of set the tone a little bit, but it was it was also tougher to to chat and you know, but it is what it is.

01:08:36.574 --> 01:08:37.774
KRISTA: But the drinks were really good.

01:08:37.774 --> 01:08:39.814
KRISTA: They were really strong.

01:08:39.814 --> 01:08:43.694
KRISTA: Phil and I got the nautilus and the huge ship.

01:08:43.694 --> 01:08:44.454
KRISTA: It was good.

01:08:44.454 --> 01:08:46.894
KRISTA: And I think Sasha got, I forget what it was called.

01:08:46.894 --> 01:08:49.954
KRISTA: Yeah, it had a name I can't pronounce, so I'm not going to try.

01:08:49.954 --> 01:08:56.054
KRISTA: But it was another big one that they, you know, they throw cinnamon and it lights on fire and sparks and there's a whole thing.

01:08:56.054 --> 01:08:59.154
KRISTA: So we wanted all the drinks that did the things.

01:08:59.154 --> 01:09:03.214
KRISTA: So we got those and it was cool.

01:09:03.214 --> 01:09:09.954
KRISTA: So we did that, tried it, and then went out and the kids all went in the pool.

01:09:09.954 --> 01:09:14.594
KRISTA: And we just hang out poolside and had a drink and chatted.

01:09:14.594 --> 01:09:19.854
KRISTA: And then they went their separate ways and we got ready for the Moonlight Magic event from there.

01:09:19.854 --> 01:09:20.774
VIRGINIA: All right.

01:09:20.774 --> 01:09:23.274
VIRGINIA: Tell me about Moonlight Magic.

01:09:23.594 --> 01:09:24.574
KRISTA: That was a lot of fun.

01:09:24.574 --> 01:09:28.614
KRISTA: We love any type of after hours party.

01:09:28.614 --> 01:09:30.714
VIRGINIA: And this was at Hollywood Studios, right?

01:09:30.714 --> 01:09:31.254
KRISTA: Yeah.

01:09:31.574 --> 01:09:32.874
KRISTA: It was at Hollywood Studios.

01:09:32.874 --> 01:09:34.454
KRISTA: It started at 9.30.

01:09:34.454 --> 01:09:37.034
KRISTA: You could get in as early as 7.

01:09:37.034 --> 01:09:41.414
KRISTA: I think we arrived maybe around 8.30-ish.

01:09:41.414 --> 01:09:43.114
KRISTA: Just to be in the middle of those crowds.

01:09:43.334 --> 01:09:47.434
KRISTA: Went and got our bracelets and our food vouchers and things like that.

01:09:47.434 --> 01:09:54.874
KRISTA: So we each got three food vouchers, which were good for snacks or I think side dishes, I guess.

01:09:54.874 --> 01:10:03.454
KRISTA: I've never done the dining plan, but I think anything that's considered a snack credit, for those familiar with the dining plan, at select places that were open.

01:10:03.454 --> 01:10:08.174
KRISTA: So you could use them prior to the park closing and then afterward at select places.

01:10:08.174 --> 01:10:10.274
KRISTA: So we had a list that showed us all of that.

01:10:12.334 --> 01:10:16.974
KRISTA: But the lines were so long, so there were some rare Star Wars characters coming out.

01:10:16.974 --> 01:10:27.674
KRISTA: And before the party started, it was like ridiculous from the marketplace in Galaxy's Edge all the way down and around the corner, almost to where Rise of the Resistance was.

01:10:27.674 --> 01:10:33.734
KRISTA: So like a Jack and Sally type line, if you've ever waited for them, it was probably going to be at least two hours.

01:10:33.734 --> 01:10:41.294
KRISTA: So the fact that there were rare characters was super cool, but very long lines.

01:10:41.294 --> 01:10:51.394
KRISTA: And even the food lines, for anything substantial, if you want to get more bang for your buck with the tickets, looked like it was a good 20-30 minute line.

01:10:51.394 --> 01:10:56.154
KRISTA: So when you have a three-hour party, it's tough to swallow that.

01:10:56.154 --> 01:10:58.434
KRISTA: But there was also free ice cream bars.

01:10:58.594 --> 01:11:02.094
KRISTA: So we lined up and got Mickey sandwich and Mickey bar.

01:11:02.094 --> 01:11:05.594
KRISTA: And I think we each used one of our coupons.

01:11:05.594 --> 01:11:11.954
KRISTA: We all came home with two each just because we didn't want to burn party time standing in line for a side of fries.

01:11:11.954 --> 01:11:12.354
VIRGINIA: Right.

01:11:12.354 --> 01:11:14.114
KRISTA: But it is nice to have.

01:11:14.594 --> 01:11:20.614
KRISTA: I don't want to sound like I not appreciated it, because it was a really cool party.

01:11:20.614 --> 01:11:24.734
KRISTA: It's nice to go and have all the ride lines be that much shorter.

01:11:24.734 --> 01:11:30.274
KRISTA: They had a DJ and a little dance party out front, which Max was dancing and he loved that.

01:11:30.274 --> 01:11:36.674
KRISTA: Then there was another dance party with characters in the Disney Junior area and it was very cute.

01:11:36.674 --> 01:11:44.154
KRISTA: Like Mickey, Minnie, the gang, they were all there dressed up in like goofy, had a tuxedo and a top hat, like they were all fancy.

01:11:44.154 --> 01:11:54.334
KRISTA: It was nice to see those rare characters and have those offerings and the low wait times and the stuff that we did get and that we were offered was very nice.

01:11:54.754 --> 01:12:00.554
KRISTA: That was nice, just a lot of the stuff that most people would want to do, understandably, were really long lines.

01:12:00.554 --> 01:12:06.034
KRISTA: So like any other party, you just have to prioritize if you want to stand in line for an hour or two.

01:12:06.034 --> 01:12:06.494
VIRGINIA: Right.

01:12:06.494 --> 01:12:14.154
VIRGINIA: But I think for people who are not familiar, the difference with this is a DVC Moonlight Magic party is free.

01:12:14.154 --> 01:12:15.954
VIRGINIA: You're not paying for an extra ticket.

01:12:15.954 --> 01:12:21.354
VIRGINIA: You just have to be able to get through the queue and get your ticket for it.

01:12:21.354 --> 01:12:22.834
VIRGINIA: But it's a benefit.

01:12:22.834 --> 01:12:25.194
VIRGINIA: It's a perk of being a DVC member.

01:12:26.094 --> 01:12:26.754
KRISTA: Exactly.

01:12:26.754 --> 01:12:28.854
VIRGINIA: At least you weren't paying for anything.

01:12:28.854 --> 01:12:31.334
VIRGINIA: I mean, you paid for your t-shirt, which is expensive.

01:12:31.334 --> 01:12:31.514
VIRGINIA: Yeah.

01:12:31.514 --> 01:12:34.274
KRISTA: It's a good amount.

01:12:34.274 --> 01:12:42.374
KRISTA: But yeah, no, it was, and again, just totally honest review, but not meaning to sound ungrateful because I love that they do this.

01:12:42.374 --> 01:12:44.554
KRISTA: And we had a fantastic time.

01:12:44.554 --> 01:12:47.134
KRISTA: And Phil did end up lining up for the Star Wars characters.

01:12:47.254 --> 01:12:54.134
KRISTA: They had, he asked the cast member and he said, they're coming out at, you know, right at 930, again at 1030, 1145.

01:12:54.714 --> 01:13:01.034
KRISTA: So he went to the last showing and waited, I think about 45 minutes to an hour.

01:13:01.034 --> 01:13:05.554
KRISTA: So he got to meet them and I waited closer to 25 for Joy and Sadness.

01:13:05.554 --> 01:13:06.454
KRISTA: That wasn't too bad.

01:13:06.454 --> 01:13:08.894
KRISTA: So yeah, we did wait.

01:13:08.894 --> 01:13:12.414
KRISTA: You just have to kind of time it out and everyone's going to go there first.

01:13:12.414 --> 01:13:18.274
KRISTA: So if you go there later, like typical with most things, but yeah, it was a lot of fun.

01:13:18.334 --> 01:13:19.554
VIRGINIA: Right.

01:13:19.554 --> 01:13:27.554
VIRGINIA: Well, Wednesday, August the 28th was your last park day and you had planned to go to Magic Kingdom.

01:13:27.554 --> 01:13:30.794
VIRGINIA: So how did you spend your last park day?

01:13:30.794 --> 01:13:31.154
KRISTA: Yeah.

01:13:31.154 --> 01:13:36.834
KRISTA: So our plan was just to spend a full day at Magic Kingdom, our last day.

01:13:38.014 --> 01:13:39.454
KRISTA: But we were all tired.

01:13:39.674 --> 01:13:46.934
KRISTA: We had the DVC party the previous night and then a little bit of Epcot the night before that.

01:13:46.934 --> 01:13:49.254
KRISTA: So we were all pretty tired and coming to the end of things.

01:13:49.254 --> 01:13:51.114
KRISTA: So I was like, I'm not going to set alarms.

01:13:51.114 --> 01:13:53.454
KRISTA: I'm not going to wake anybody up.

01:13:53.454 --> 01:13:54.394
KRISTA: We get up when we get up.

01:13:54.394 --> 01:13:56.974
KRISTA: And I had a multi-pass for Tiana's from nine to ten.

01:13:56.974 --> 01:14:00.314
KRISTA: So I was like, if I miss it, I miss it.

01:14:00.314 --> 01:14:02.754
KRISTA: But as luck would have it, she was down again.

01:14:03.874 --> 01:14:08.834
KRISTA: So when I woke up at 9.45, that multi-pass had flipped into an anytime.

01:14:08.834 --> 01:14:09.814
KRISTA: So I was like, perfect.

01:14:09.814 --> 01:14:11.474
KRISTA: We can go on Tiana's whenever we want.

01:14:11.474 --> 01:14:13.374
KRISTA: That worked out really well.

01:14:13.374 --> 01:14:18.354
KRISTA: And then I just bumped the next two, because we had like the nine to ten, ten to eleven.

01:14:18.354 --> 01:14:19.554
KRISTA: So I bumped those a little bit.

01:14:19.554 --> 01:14:24.994
KRISTA: And then we just took our time getting into the park and went into magic.

01:14:24.994 --> 01:14:30.294
KRISTA: And we did a few rides and then we went out to Tom Sawyer Island again for one final hurrah.

01:14:31.294 --> 01:14:33.014
KRISTA: Yeah.

01:14:33.014 --> 01:14:36.234
KRISTA: So I can definitely see why they're making the changes.

01:14:36.234 --> 01:14:37.214
KRISTA: Like it's not busy.

01:14:37.214 --> 01:14:39.494
KRISTA: It's not a great use of space, but I do love it.

01:14:39.494 --> 01:14:41.114
KRISTA: It's just so peaceful.

01:14:41.114 --> 01:14:46.254
KRISTA: And to have a spot for the kids to run around, like the play areas are really fun.

01:14:46.254 --> 01:14:48.834
KRISTA: So we made our way out there.

01:14:48.834 --> 01:14:53.634
KRISTA: And then within, I think about 10, 15 minutes, there was apparently inclement weather in the area.

01:14:53.634 --> 01:14:56.494
KRISTA: So they came and said we're evacuating everyone off the island.

01:14:58.094 --> 01:15:01.914
KRISTA: So we went back, but we had our last little visit.

01:15:01.914 --> 01:15:05.994
KRISTA: And then we ended up going back to the hotel for a rest.

01:15:05.994 --> 01:15:10.494
KRISTA: Again, no pool because of the inclement weather, but just relaxed for a bit.

01:15:10.494 --> 01:15:15.014
KRISTA: And then went back to Magic Kingdom in the evening to do a bunch more rides.

01:15:16.314 --> 01:15:19.094
KRISTA: And went to Cosmic Rays for dinner.

01:15:19.094 --> 01:15:23.194
KRISTA: I wanted to go back to Harbour House to get that sandwich just one last time.

01:15:23.194 --> 01:15:24.014
VIRGINIA: One more time.

01:15:24.294 --> 01:15:26.694
KRISTA: But it closed at 8.

01:15:26.694 --> 01:15:30.194
KRISTA: The park didn't close until 10, but Harbour House closed at 8.

01:15:30.194 --> 01:15:30.714
KRISTA: I don't know why.

01:15:30.714 --> 01:15:32.074
KRISTA: I don't know if it's to do with the fireworks.

01:15:32.074 --> 01:15:33.714
KRISTA: I have no idea, but I was sad.

01:15:33.714 --> 01:15:39.794
VIRGINIA: Maybe because they do water down that area to fire purposes.

01:15:39.794 --> 01:15:40.554
KRISTA: Yeah.

01:15:40.554 --> 01:15:41.594
KRISTA: So I looked.

01:15:41.594 --> 01:15:42.814
KRISTA: I was going to mobile order.

01:15:42.814 --> 01:15:44.854
KRISTA: It was like 8.01 and it said it closed at 8.

01:15:44.854 --> 01:15:47.114
KRISTA: I was like, are you kidding me?

01:15:47.114 --> 01:15:50.114
KRISTA: So went to Cosmic Rays instead, had dinner and a show.

01:15:50.434 --> 01:16:00.394
KRISTA: But yeah, and then we just watched the fireworks while we were walking around, kind of in behind Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.

01:16:00.394 --> 01:16:03.174
KRISTA: And the kids did Space Mountain.

01:16:03.174 --> 01:16:05.274
KRISTA: Phil and I did the People Mover.

01:16:05.274 --> 01:16:08.054
KRISTA: And we timed it perfectly by accident.

01:16:08.474 --> 01:16:09.714
KRISTA: It was the end of the fireworks.

01:16:09.714 --> 01:16:12.474
KRISTA: Like, oh, we want to get around the corner and see the fireworks.

01:16:12.474 --> 01:16:14.754
KRISTA: Maybe we'll even see when Tinkerbell flies by.

01:16:16.234 --> 01:16:20.054
KRISTA: They had to stop it because someone was standing up and wanted to get out and go in a different car.

01:16:20.954 --> 01:16:21.694
KRISTA: What?

01:16:21.694 --> 01:16:22.314
KRISTA: Yeah.

01:16:22.314 --> 01:16:23.034
KRISTA: Yeah.

01:16:23.034 --> 01:16:25.854
KRISTA: Like, while it was moving, it's like, I'm going to go with these people.

01:16:25.854 --> 01:16:28.394
KRISTA: And yeah, so they had to stop it.

01:16:28.394 --> 01:16:30.574
KRISTA: And then the door jammed and they couldn't get it.

01:16:30.574 --> 01:16:36.594
KRISTA: I was like, oh, my God, we're going to miss our last night fireworks, People Mover because somebody wanted to stand up.

01:16:36.594 --> 01:16:43.474
KRISTA: But as it happens, he did us a favor because when we rounded the corner, it was right as Tinkerbell was flying down.

01:16:44.194 --> 01:16:48.374
KRISTA: So she was literally right beside us on the People Mover track.

01:16:48.374 --> 01:16:49.274
KRISTA: So it was super cool.

01:16:49.274 --> 01:16:53.814
KRISTA: So that was a nice way to end it.

01:16:53.814 --> 01:16:58.954
KRISTA: And then I got us a Tron Virtual Queue for the extended evening hours.

01:16:58.954 --> 01:17:02.094
KRISTA: And that ended up being called about halfway through.

01:17:02.094 --> 01:17:03.534
KRISTA: And it was a super long line.

01:17:03.534 --> 01:17:07.614
KRISTA: I had never seen it like all the way outside.

01:17:07.614 --> 01:17:08.374
KRISTA: So I was a little worried.

01:17:08.374 --> 01:17:12.294
KRISTA: I was like, this is like the rest of our party time, but the boys wanted to do it.

01:17:13.094 --> 01:17:19.254
KRISTA: But it actually went by pretty quickly with no lightning lane, just the Virtual Queue.

01:17:19.254 --> 01:17:20.734
KRISTA: It went by quick.

01:17:20.734 --> 01:17:24.694
KRISTA: We had been able to ask for the front the last couple of times, which is game changer.

01:17:24.694 --> 01:17:27.274
KRISTA: It was so much fun in the front.

01:17:27.274 --> 01:17:27.894
KRISTA: And then did that.

01:17:27.894 --> 01:17:30.694
KRISTA: And they got off at like 1154.

01:17:30.694 --> 01:17:31.914
KRISTA: So it's like, you have six minutes.

01:17:31.914 --> 01:17:34.774
KRISTA: You want to run and do Space Mountain again, go for it.

01:17:34.774 --> 01:17:37.274
KRISTA: So the kids went and did Space one more time.

01:17:38.734 --> 01:17:40.154
KRISTA: And then that was it.

01:17:40.794 --> 01:17:48.194
KRISTA: But it's, yeah, there's no people mover during extended evening hours, which is a shame because I would be on that a lot.

01:17:48.194 --> 01:17:48.954
VIRGINIA: Me too.

01:17:48.974 --> 01:17:53.454
VIRGINIA: I would just be like, given the constant hand signal, like one more time around, one more time.

01:17:53.454 --> 01:17:54.154
KRISTA: Yeah.

01:17:54.154 --> 01:17:55.454
KRISTA: You guys go on Space again.

01:17:55.454 --> 01:17:57.114
KRISTA: I am more than happy here.

01:17:57.114 --> 01:17:59.974
KRISTA: But yeah, so we just sat and waited for them.

01:17:59.974 --> 01:18:02.694
KRISTA: And leaving was a bit of a mess.

01:18:03.834 --> 01:18:04.514
KRISTA: It was really weird.

01:18:05.014 --> 01:18:08.394
KRISTA: As we're leaving, Max was like, oh, we're going to go on the monorail again.

01:18:08.394 --> 01:18:10.374
KRISTA: I was like, yeah, like one more time.

01:18:10.374 --> 01:18:11.974
KRISTA: And a cast member overheard us.

01:18:11.974 --> 01:18:14.554
KRISTA: She's like, oh, the monorail is no longer running.

01:18:14.554 --> 01:18:16.154
KRISTA: We're like, oh, okay.

01:18:16.154 --> 01:18:17.534
KRISTA: I guess we're taking the boat.

01:18:17.534 --> 01:18:28.574
KRISTA: So we went down to where they have the ferry, not the big one, but the one, the resort launch that's shared with the Grand Floridian.

01:18:28.574 --> 01:18:30.774
KRISTA: And it was a pretty long line.

01:18:30.774 --> 01:18:31.614
KRISTA: I go, what can we do?

01:18:33.074 --> 01:18:38.054
KRISTA: And then as we're watching, we see that there are monorails coming in and out.

01:18:38.054 --> 01:18:39.494
KRISTA: There's people walking up.

01:18:39.494 --> 01:18:42.234
KRISTA: Why would they have a deluxe extended evening hours?

01:18:42.234 --> 01:18:46.174
KRISTA: And then the monorail just stops running because the park's closed.

01:18:46.174 --> 01:18:48.194
KRISTA: Three of you didn't make sense.

01:18:48.194 --> 01:18:50.614
KRISTA: We're like, okay, but it's still running.

01:18:50.614 --> 01:18:52.334
KRISTA: Let's go up.

01:18:52.334 --> 01:18:54.914
KRISTA: So we got out of that line and then went up.

01:18:54.914 --> 01:18:57.494
KRISTA: And by that time, the line was down the ramp.

01:18:57.494 --> 01:19:00.694
KRISTA: And it's 1230, 1240 at this point.

01:19:01.314 --> 01:19:08.294
KRISTA: And we're like, okay, let's just go to the big ferry boat because we can get off the TTC and our room is like a three-minute walk from the TTC.

01:19:08.294 --> 01:19:10.154
KRISTA: So that's what we did.

01:19:10.154 --> 01:19:19.134
KRISTA: We went over to the big ferry over to the TTC, which was kind of fun because we used to do that when we would drive to the parks like years and years ago when our oldest was young.

01:19:19.134 --> 01:19:25.654
KRISTA: So it was nostalgic and it was not at all packed like everything else, not many people going to TTC.

01:19:26.794 --> 01:19:30.674
KRISTA: So we did that and got back a little quicker.

01:19:30.954 --> 01:19:32.934
KRISTA: But yeah, it was kind of a mess.

01:19:32.934 --> 01:19:45.114
KRISTA: And do you just have to say, because I am a value resort girlie at Hertz, that the people will bash on the value resorts and they're like, oh, it's only buses and it takes forever.

01:19:45.114 --> 01:19:50.234
KRISTA: Everything at these deluxe resorts, they share, they bus share.

01:19:50.234 --> 01:19:53.754
KRISTA: So I'm going to Hollywood Studios or Disney Springs or wherever and it bus shares.

01:19:53.754 --> 01:19:57.174
KRISTA: So I think I just missed my Disney Springs Day, I just missed my bus.

01:19:57.174 --> 01:19:58.634
KRISTA: So it was every half hour.

01:19:58.634 --> 01:20:02.454
KRISTA: So I sat there waiting for a half hour, got on the bus, I'm like, okay, we're hitting the road.

01:20:02.454 --> 01:20:05.494
KRISTA: Now we go in the opposite direction to go to Grand Floridian.

01:20:05.494 --> 01:20:07.074
KRISTA: There's only one tiny bus stop.

01:20:07.074 --> 01:20:13.194
KRISTA: So if there's already a bus or two there, you have to sit and wait for the other buses to load and unload, and then you get going.

01:20:13.194 --> 01:20:16.574
KRISTA: It's such a process and even the resort launch too.

01:20:16.574 --> 01:20:19.114
KRISTA: Then the monorail is fun as it is, like we were the third stop.

01:20:21.134 --> 01:20:23.054
KRISTA: So let's cut the value of some slack.

01:20:23.054 --> 01:20:26.854
KRISTA: The buses are actually really efficient, in my opinion.

01:20:27.774 --> 01:20:34.894
KRISTA: But yeah, it was a process getting back, but it was fun, so good night.

01:20:34.894 --> 01:20:39.214
VIRGINIA: So Thursday, August 29th was your departure day.

01:20:39.214 --> 01:20:45.674
VIRGINIA: You had a 2 PM flight or somewhere around there, so you didn't really have much time.

01:20:45.674 --> 01:20:52.214
VIRGINIA: You did mention that you might try to find a way to hop into the Magic Kingdom early morning by yourself.

01:20:52.214 --> 01:21:00.274
VIRGINIA: When you told me that, I was doubting whether you would be able to get the energy up to do that on your very last morning.

01:21:00.274 --> 01:21:02.734
VIRGINIA: But did you prove me wrong?

01:21:02.734 --> 01:21:04.594
KRISTA: No, you were right.

01:21:04.594 --> 01:21:06.194
KRISTA: You were right.

01:21:06.194 --> 01:21:11.634
KRISTA: I think part of it too was that view, because I could look at the castle.

01:21:11.634 --> 01:21:21.334
KRISTA: So we spent a lot of time on the balcony that last morning, having our breakfast and our coffee, and just looking at the castle in the Montreal, and like, okay, bye, one last time.

01:21:21.334 --> 01:21:26.114
KRISTA: So I think otherwise, I might have tried to run in.

01:21:26.114 --> 01:21:34.734
KRISTA: But again, the snafus with the transportation, then I was like, I do want to get stuck, not being able to come back before a flight.

01:21:36.214 --> 01:21:46.974
KRISTA: So yeah, we spend a lot of time on the balcony, having one last look, and then took an Uber over to the airport, I think around 1030 or so.

01:21:46.974 --> 01:21:48.174
VIRGINIA: Okay.

01:21:48.174 --> 01:21:49.674
KRISTA: Yeah.

01:21:49.674 --> 01:21:50.694
VIRGINIA: Wow.

01:21:50.694 --> 01:21:52.734
VIRGINIA: What a great trip.

01:21:52.734 --> 01:21:54.294
KRISTA: Yeah.

01:21:54.294 --> 01:22:02.274
KRISTA: It's long, but it was a whirlwind, and I don't know that I would do it that long again with the kids.

01:22:02.274 --> 01:22:04.594
KRISTA: I feel like I'm ready for a solo trip after that.

01:22:04.594 --> 01:22:05.674
VIRGINIA: Oh yeah, you are.

01:22:06.594 --> 01:22:07.354
KRISTA: But it was good.

01:22:07.394 --> 01:22:07.954
KRISTA: It was good.

01:22:07.954 --> 01:22:10.074
KRISTA: It was a lot of fun.

01:22:10.074 --> 01:22:18.934
VIRGINIA: Well, thank you so much for sharing all of the details and obviously for taking such great notes because nobody can remember all of that, but you did so well with it.

01:22:18.934 --> 01:22:26.254
VIRGINIA: So thank you for doing that, and I hope that you will come back on the podcast again sometime in the future.

01:22:26.254 --> 01:22:26.914
KRISTA: For sure.

01:22:26.914 --> 01:22:28.794
KRISTA: Thank you so much for having me.

01:22:30.254 --> 01:22:33.474
