Amy rejoins Virginia on the podcast for her latest adventure: a spring break couple trip to Disney’s Boardwalk Villas with her husband, Joe. Amy and Joe are DVC members and annual passholders who get to WDW fairly frequently, so Amy has two goals for this upcoming trip. First, she wants to ride Cosmic Rewind as much as possible, and second, she wants to try and slow down a little this time. With a Behind the Seeds Tour, a wine tasting with Master Sommelier, George Miliotes of Wine Bar George, and plans for a monorail crawl, will she actually be able to slow down?

  • Trip Dates: April 22-26, 2025

  • Pre-Trip Interview: recorded 4/17/25

00:00:12.900 --> 00:00:16.640
VIRGINIA: Welcome to Where I Long To Be, a Magical Trip Report Podcast.

00:00:16.640 --> 00:00:18.940
VIRGINIA: My name is Virginia, and I am your host.

00:00:18.940 --> 00:00:28.000
VIRGINIA: If you are a long time listener, and you haven't submitted to be a podcast guest, and you have a trip coming up in September through December, what are you waiting for?

00:00:28.000 --> 00:00:31.060
VIRGINIA: Reach out today through my website, which is
whereilongtobepodcast.com.

00:00:32.260 --> 00:00:37.400
VIRGINIA: I would especially like to chat with people who have plans to go to Universal this year.

00:00:37.400 --> 00:00:38.180
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:00:38.180 --> 00:00:42.060
VIRGINIA: On today's episode, I am welcoming back Amy to the podcast.

00:00:42.460 --> 00:00:51.600
VIRGINIA: She was previously on the show for her November 2024 trip, so I will link her previous episodes in the show notes, in case you want to go back and listen to those as well.

00:00:51.600 --> 00:00:55.820
VIRGINIA: But without any more delay, please join me in welcoming Amy.

00:00:57.120 --> 00:00:59.440
VIRGINIA: Welcome back, Amy.

00:00:59.440 --> 00:01:00.320
AMY: Thank you so much.

00:01:00.320 --> 00:01:02.400
AMY: I'm excited to speak with you.

00:01:02.400 --> 00:01:05.080
VIRGINIA: I am so happy to see you.

00:01:05.080 --> 00:01:08.720
VIRGINIA: Old friend coming here to talk about another trip.

00:01:09.260 --> 00:01:14.240
VIRGINIA: You were most recently in Disney in November, correct?

00:01:14.240 --> 00:01:19.820
AMY: Actually, my oldest son and I went for just a very short trip.

00:01:19.820 --> 00:01:23.760
AMY: My son Jack and I went and we stayed at Saratoga Springs.

00:01:23.760 --> 00:01:29.440
VIRGINIA: I think now I'm recalling, I think you told me about this trip when we spoke about your November trip.

00:01:29.440 --> 00:01:30.980
VIRGINIA: Yes, I think so.

00:01:30.980 --> 00:01:36.040
VIRGINIA: You're getting down there quite frequently as someone who lives in Massachusetts.

00:01:37.520 --> 00:01:40.340
VIRGINIA: Well done making the most of your annual pass.

00:01:40.340 --> 00:01:41.880
AMY: Exactly.

00:01:41.880 --> 00:01:45.920
AMY: That's the motivation is to really make the most of that annual pass.

00:01:45.920 --> 00:01:47.240
VIRGINIA: Exactly.

00:01:47.240 --> 00:01:47.900
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:01:47.900 --> 00:02:00.660
VIRGINIA: Well, let's get through all of the details of this trip, but really quick before we do that, for anybody who did not listen to Amy's previous episodes, Amy, can you just tell us a little bit about who you are?

00:02:00.660 --> 00:02:01.420
AMY: Sure.

00:02:01.420 --> 00:02:02.300
AMY: My name is Amy.

00:02:03.980 --> 00:02:08.300
AMY: My family and I have been DVC members since 2014.

00:02:09.620 --> 00:02:19.100
AMY: I've traveled down to Disney World 14 times now, so I really enjoy going to Disney World and the parks.

00:02:19.100 --> 00:02:26.160
AMY: Here in Massachusetts, I'm a teacher, and my husband and I have two sons who are 18 and 21.

00:02:27.340 --> 00:02:29.560
VIRGINIA: Who is going to be going on this particular trip?

00:02:30.480 --> 00:02:37.200
AMY: So, this trip is just going to be my husband, Joe, and I going down to Florida, just the two of us.

00:02:37.200 --> 00:02:37.600
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:02:38.100 --> 00:02:40.520
VIRGINIA: Any jealousy from the boys?

00:02:40.520 --> 00:03:01.640
AMY: Um, I'm a little guilty about my younger son, Charlie, because he's a senior this year, and I thought he might be going on a fun trip with friends, but that has not materialized, so I am leaving them both at home, but they should be fine, and I'm sure Charlie will eventually plan a trip with friends, maybe in the summer.

00:03:01.640 --> 00:03:05.580
VIRGINIA: So what are the dates of this particular trip?

00:03:05.580 --> 00:03:05.920
AMY: Okay.

00:03:05.920 --> 00:03:15.540
AMY: So we are heading down on Tuesday, April 22nd, and coming back on Saturday, April 26th, so four nights.

00:03:15.580 --> 00:03:16.160
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:03:16.160 --> 00:03:20.780
VIRGINIA: Are you going to stay at the same place the whole trip?

00:03:20.780 --> 00:03:21.180
AMY: Yes.

00:03:21.180 --> 00:03:24.800
AMY: We are staying at the Boardwalk, and we've never stayed there before.

00:03:25.440 --> 00:03:25.700
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:03:25.700 --> 00:03:28.360
AMY: So we're really excited about that.

00:03:28.360 --> 00:03:30.960
AMY: We're trying to check out some different resorts.

00:03:30.960 --> 00:03:35.160
AMY: We would like to buy a resale contract.

00:03:35.160 --> 00:03:43.780
AMY: So Boardwalk, we're very interested in, and we're also interested in Wilderness Lodge, both Copper Creek and Boulder Ridge.

00:03:43.780 --> 00:03:52.380
VIRGINIA: Do you know for this particular stay at Boardwalk, whether you're going to be staying in a Boardwalk View, a Standard View, a Garden View?

00:03:53.700 --> 00:03:54.660
AMY: Okay.

00:03:54.660 --> 00:04:00.960
AMY: I believe we're in a one-bedroom, and I believe that it's a Garden View.

00:04:00.960 --> 00:04:03.100
AMY: It's really hard to get a studio.

00:04:03.100 --> 00:04:06.920
AMY: It's actually easier to book a one-bedroom.

00:04:08.400 --> 00:04:10.940
VIRGINIA: And you all are DVC members?

00:04:10.940 --> 00:04:12.140
VIRGINIA: Am I remembering that correctly?

00:04:12.140 --> 00:04:18.860
AMY: Yes, we are DVC members, and our home resort is the Grand Floridian.

00:04:18.860 --> 00:04:19.960
VIRGINIA: Oh, yes.

00:04:19.960 --> 00:04:21.180
VIRGINIA: I remember this now.

00:04:21.640 --> 00:04:25.280
VIRGINIA: You didn't think you were Grand Floridian people, but it turns out you are.

00:04:25.280 --> 00:04:26.500
VIRGINIA: Got it.

00:04:26.500 --> 00:04:28.300
AMY: That's hilarious.

00:04:30.200 --> 00:04:34.120
VIRGINIA: Well, I think you're really going to enjoy staying at the Boardwalk.

00:04:34.120 --> 00:04:37.940
VIRGINIA: It's really nice to be that close to International Gateway.

00:04:37.940 --> 00:04:41.960
VIRGINIA: I mean, above all, people talk about the food that's available on the Boardwalk.

00:04:41.960 --> 00:04:50.640
VIRGINIA: I personally am not enamored with the food choices on the Boardwalk, but the proximity to Epcot, to me, that's where the food choices are, are right inside that gate.

00:04:51.340 --> 00:04:52.140
AMY: Exactly.

00:04:52.140 --> 00:05:00.180
AMY: I'm really excited about being able to walk over to Epcot to see Epcot fireworks, to go on Guardians every day.

00:05:00.180 --> 00:05:04.920
AMY: That's one of my few goals for this trip is to get on Guardians every single day.

00:05:05.020 --> 00:05:10.360
AMY: I'm actually even more excited about the topiaries than the food.

00:05:10.360 --> 00:05:15.480
AMY: I know that that's strange, but I just am very excited about all the topiaries.

00:05:15.480 --> 00:05:18.260
VIRGINIA: I also love the merch for Flower and Garden.

00:05:18.900 --> 00:05:30.960
VIRGINIA: Even though I live in New York City, I don't have any place to do gardening, but there's something about the Flower and Garden merch that's just really appealing to me and it makes me want to garden.

00:05:31.020 --> 00:05:32.900
VIRGINIA: So it's fun to look at.

00:05:32.900 --> 00:05:35.460
VIRGINIA: That's funny.

00:05:35.460 --> 00:05:37.320
VIRGINIA: And that little orange bird is so cute.

00:05:37.320 --> 00:05:41.420
VIRGINIA: All the characters that they associate with that festival.

00:05:41.420 --> 00:05:42.300
VIRGINIA: I love it.

00:05:42.300 --> 00:05:43.000
AMY: I agree.

00:05:43.000 --> 00:05:51.340
AMY: And I don't know why they don't have orange bird, like a character in the parks or in Epcot for the festival.

00:05:51.340 --> 00:05:52.860
AMY: I think that would be so much fun.

00:05:52.860 --> 00:05:54.380
VIRGINIA: Oh, yeah, it would.

00:05:54.380 --> 00:05:56.240
VIRGINIA: Yeah, I would love to see that.

00:05:56.240 --> 00:05:56.880
AMY: Yeah.

00:05:56.880 --> 00:05:58.740
VIRGINIA: Disney, if you're listening.

00:05:58.740 --> 00:06:00.640
AMY: Exactly.

00:06:00.640 --> 00:06:02.760
VIRGINIA: Is Flower and Garden your favorite festival?

00:06:02.760 --> 00:06:06.880
AMY: I have been to Flower and Garden and Food and Wine.

00:06:07.600 --> 00:06:13.980
AMY: I have not been to the other festival, so I have to get back to you on that.

00:06:15.060 --> 00:06:38.100
VIRGINIA: Well, with your annual pass, hopefully you will be able to make it down there and maybe get a really good pass holder deal because sometimes that is what entices me to come back is if I can get a decent deal on a flight and they have the discounted rooms for AP, then it kind of seems silly not to take advantage of it.

00:06:38.100 --> 00:06:39.400
VIRGINIA: And that's how this happens.

00:06:39.400 --> 00:06:42.180
VIRGINIA: It is a very slippery slope, folks.

00:06:42.180 --> 00:06:43.460
AMY: It really is.

00:06:43.460 --> 00:06:47.900
AMY: I've heard people talk about like add-on itis for years.

00:06:47.900 --> 00:06:52.440
AMY: And I just never really felt the need to buy more points.

00:06:52.440 --> 00:06:58.140
AMY: And you would think as my children get older, I would be less interested in going.

00:06:58.140 --> 00:07:05.060
AMY: But I'm actually more interested now in letting them take friends or extended family trips.

00:07:07.140 --> 00:07:11.040
AMY: So it would really be fun to have some more points.

00:07:11.040 --> 00:07:17.980
VIRGINIA: Yeah, I would love to have some additional points, but that's going to take some convincing for my husband.

00:07:17.980 --> 00:07:18.200
AMY: Yeah.

00:07:18.200 --> 00:07:29.900
VIRGINIA: But I'm hoping that as Alex gets older, maybe that will be easier to do the convincing because as he gets older, I can imagine that as an only child, we would want to let him bring a friend.

00:07:30.440 --> 00:07:30.960
AMY: Sure.

00:07:30.960 --> 00:07:31.920
AMY: Exactly.

00:07:31.920 --> 00:07:33.120
VIRGINIA: So we'll see.

00:07:33.120 --> 00:07:35.140
VIRGINIA: We will see.

00:07:35.140 --> 00:07:36.000
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:07:36.000 --> 00:07:40.300
VIRGINIA: So how are you getting to Florida?

00:07:40.300 --> 00:07:44.360
VIRGINIA: I'm imagining a flight, but what time is your flight?

00:07:44.360 --> 00:07:47.220
VIRGINIA: How did you arrange your travel?

00:07:47.220 --> 00:07:47.720
AMY: Okay.

00:07:47.720 --> 00:07:56.260
AMY: So on Tuesday, April 22nd, our flight is out of Manchester, New Hampshire, and that's at 7:25 a.m.

00:07:57.660 --> 00:07:58.480
AMY: Okay.

00:07:58.480 --> 00:08:06.760
VIRGINIA: And if I recall correctly, you have multiple places you are able to fly out of because you are kind of in a really convenient location?

00:08:06.760 --> 00:08:07.340
AMY: Yes.

00:08:07.340 --> 00:08:12.360
AMY: We can choose between Manchester, New Hampshire, Austin, Massachusetts.

00:08:12.360 --> 00:08:20.020
AMY: There's an airport in Connecticut, and then there's also an airport in Rhode Island that we flew out of for a recent trip.

00:08:20.020 --> 00:08:21.460
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:08:21.460 --> 00:08:24.300
VIRGINIA: What time does this flight get you in to MCO?

00:08:25.540 --> 00:08:27.940
AMY: 10.35, which is great.

00:08:27.940 --> 00:08:29.720
VIRGINIA: Yeah, that's perfect.

00:08:31.380 --> 00:08:36.020
VIRGINIA: How are you going to get from the airport over to the Boardwalk?

00:08:37.180 --> 00:08:43.200
AMY: Gear Fusion is going to pick us up, and we've used them before, and we really like them.

00:08:43.200 --> 00:08:45.680
VIRGINIA: Yes, I remember them.

00:08:45.680 --> 00:08:48.740
VIRGINIA: I'll make sure to put their link in the show notes again too.

00:08:48.740 --> 00:08:49.100
AMY: Thank you.

00:08:49.100 --> 00:08:50.640
AMY: We've had really good luck with them.

00:08:52.400 --> 00:08:53.220
AMY: They're nice people.

00:08:53.220 --> 00:08:54.420
AMY: They do a great job.

00:08:54.420 --> 00:09:03.000
VIRGINIA: Do you have any plans for this particular trip to do any kind of lightning lane or that sort of thing?

00:09:03.000 --> 00:09:11.780
VIRGINIA: Because I know you've gone multiple times this year, so sometimes when people go more, they're not as inclined to pay for the extras because they're like, oh, I've been a bunch this year.

00:09:11.780 --> 00:09:13.560
VIRGINIA: It doesn't matter as much.

00:09:14.180 --> 00:09:15.220
VIRGINIA: What is your priority there?

00:09:15.960 --> 00:09:23.020
AMY: So we are going to use multi-pass the first day and the last day.

00:09:23.020 --> 00:09:27.520
AMY: And then every day, I purchase the single passes.

00:09:27.520 --> 00:09:28.500
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:09:28.500 --> 00:09:28.820
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:09:28.820 --> 00:09:35.000
VIRGINIA: Are you counting your arrival day in your multi-pass plans?

00:09:35.000 --> 00:09:35.340
AMY: Yeah.

00:09:35.340 --> 00:09:40.340
AMY: So the first day, I think we'll get there by lunchtime.

00:09:40.340 --> 00:09:43.260
AMY: I'm not quite sure where we'll go to lunch.

00:09:43.800 --> 00:09:49.220
AMY: I was thinking of maybe Cake Bake Shop, trying to get in and eat at their bar.

00:09:49.220 --> 00:09:50.900
AMY: Have you eaten there?

00:09:50.900 --> 00:09:52.640
VIRGINIA: I have not.

00:09:52.640 --> 00:10:01.620
VIRGINIA: And I haven't even on these more recent trips I've had, I haven't even made it over to that side of the Boardwalk to even look in the window.

00:10:01.620 --> 00:10:05.320
VIRGINIA: So I'll be interested to hear how you like it.

00:10:05.320 --> 00:10:05.580
AMY: Yeah.

00:10:05.580 --> 00:10:09.040
AMY: I mean, I know people have criticized it because it's very pricey.

00:10:09.940 --> 00:10:18.380
AMY: For me, if we get to Boardwalk and we could just scoot over there so quickly and grab something to eat, that's appealing to me.

00:10:18.380 --> 00:10:20.560
AMY: But I'm also open to different things.

00:10:20.560 --> 00:10:24.440
AMY: So I'm kind of unsure where we'll go to lunch.

00:10:24.440 --> 00:10:26.820
AMY: But then we'll go in to Epcot.

00:10:26.820 --> 00:10:28.840
AMY: And yes, we'll use the multi-pass.

00:10:28.880 --> 00:10:34.940
AMY: I booked Remy and Living With The Land and Guardians that day.

00:10:34.940 --> 00:10:35.240
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:10:35.240 --> 00:10:38.200
VIRGINIA: And you have the individual Lightning Lane for Cosmic Rewind.

00:10:38.200 --> 00:10:41.780
AMY: I will ride twice and Joe will sit on a bench.

00:10:42.460 --> 00:10:44.420
VIRGINIA: Will he do all the other ones with you though?

00:10:44.420 --> 00:10:45.140
AMY: Yes, he will.

00:10:45.140 --> 00:10:46.640
VIRGINIA: Fantastic.

00:10:46.640 --> 00:10:49.100
VIRGINIA: Living With The Land is not too wild.

00:10:52.680 --> 00:10:58.480
AMY: So we'll go on a few rides, walk around, you know, just kind of enjoy Epcot.

00:10:58.480 --> 00:11:02.200
AMY: And then hopefully check in to the hotel.

00:11:02.200 --> 00:11:05.960
AMY: And that night we wanted to go to Amare for dinner.

00:11:05.960 --> 00:11:09.040
AMY: I think we talked about that another time.

00:11:09.040 --> 00:11:11.600
AMY: That is in the Swan Reserve.

00:11:11.600 --> 00:11:16.120
VIRGINIA: The next day, Wednesday, April 23rd, which park do you anticipate you'll go to?

00:11:16.120 --> 00:11:18.200
AMY: Second day, we are also going to Epcot.

00:11:19.560 --> 00:11:22.640
AMY: We are doing the Behind the Seeds Tour.

00:11:22.640 --> 00:11:24.260
VIRGINIA: Ooh, yay.

00:11:24.260 --> 00:11:26.080
AMY: I'm very excited about that.

00:11:26.080 --> 00:11:28.980
AMY: And we're going to Shikisai for lunch.

00:11:28.980 --> 00:11:33.520
VIRGINIA: Ooh, I'm excited for this day on your behalf.

00:11:33.560 --> 00:11:35.960
AMY: I'm excited as well.

00:11:35.960 --> 00:11:38.940
AMY: And yes, I will go on Guardians that day as well.

00:11:38.940 --> 00:11:45.720
AMY: Other than that, you know, I don't really have any other rides planned that day.

00:11:45.720 --> 00:11:48.000
AMY: We'll just kind of play it by ear and walk around.

00:11:48.380 --> 00:11:52.280
VIRGINIA: Have you done the Behind the Seeds Tour before or will this be your first time?

00:11:52.280 --> 00:11:53.360
AMY: We've all done it.

00:11:53.360 --> 00:11:55.560
AMY: I'm really excited about it.

00:11:55.560 --> 00:11:58.500
AMY: And then we'll go to Shikisai for lunch.

00:11:58.500 --> 00:11:59.460
VIRGINIA: Oh, for lunch.

00:11:59.460 --> 00:11:59.920
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:11:59.920 --> 00:12:00.900
AMY: Yes.

00:12:00.900 --> 00:12:01.720
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:12:01.720 --> 00:12:02.200
VIRGINIA: Fantastic.

00:12:02.200 --> 00:12:03.620
VIRGINIA: And have you eaten there before?

00:12:03.620 --> 00:12:04.660
AMY: In January.

00:12:04.660 --> 00:12:05.880
AMY: And I loved it.

00:12:05.880 --> 00:12:06.860
AMY: It was wonderful.

00:12:06.860 --> 00:12:07.980
AMY: The food was wonderful.

00:12:07.980 --> 00:12:10.200
AMY: The service was great.

00:12:10.200 --> 00:12:12.940
AMY: We had a beautiful view out the window of Epcot.

00:12:12.940 --> 00:12:13.820
AMY: It was really nice.

00:12:15.700 --> 00:12:21.900
VIRGINIA: I still have not made it there and I need to because I know that Charles and Alex will love it.

00:12:21.900 --> 00:12:28.120
VIRGINIA: I'm not a sushi person because I don't like seaweed and even like the rolls and stuff.

00:12:28.120 --> 00:12:32.260
VIRGINIA: I don't care for the taste of it, but they love it.

00:12:32.260 --> 00:12:34.960
VIRGINIA: So I need to make sure we get over there at some point.

00:12:34.960 --> 00:12:37.800
AMY: Plenty of other things that you will enjoy on the menu.

00:12:38.020 --> 00:12:38.660
VIRGINIA: I'm sure.

00:12:38.660 --> 00:12:39.600
VIRGINIA: I'm sure.

00:12:39.600 --> 00:12:40.680
VIRGINIA: I can always find something.

00:12:42.420 --> 00:12:43.200
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:12:43.200 --> 00:12:45.460
VIRGINIA: Anything else that day?

00:12:45.460 --> 00:12:52.360
AMY: I want to see Magic Kingdom Fireworks, but I'm not sure if we'll go into the park.

00:12:52.360 --> 00:12:57.960
AMY: Or I was thinking of trying to do some kind of monorail crawl.

00:12:57.960 --> 00:13:04.660
AMY: So maybe we'll eat at Wylulu, go get a drink at Enchanted Rose.

00:13:04.660 --> 00:13:16.600
AMY: I just thought it would be fun to kind of go around the monorail loop and either get a drink or something to eat at the different resorts, and then kind of see where we end up for fireworks.

00:13:17.680 --> 00:13:21.360
AMY: We could be at a resort or we could be at Magic Kingdom.

00:13:21.360 --> 00:13:25.040
AMY: I thought that would be fun to just kind of be flexible and see how the night goes.

00:13:25.480 --> 00:13:36.500
VIRGINIA: You could have your dinner at Wylulu, walk to Grand Floridian because it's right there.

00:13:36.500 --> 00:13:40.220
VIRGINIA: Be faster to walk than to go back to the monorail.

00:13:40.220 --> 00:13:50.320
VIRGINIA: Have your drink at Enchanted Rose, hop on the monorail, go to the Contemporary, and maybe go up to the Top of the World Lounge.

00:13:50.320 --> 00:13:51.780
AMY: Going to ask you about that.

00:13:51.780 --> 00:13:55.980
AMY: I've never gone up there, but I think that would be great.

00:13:55.980 --> 00:13:57.440
AMY: I've never done that before.

00:13:57.440 --> 00:13:58.480
AMY: Have you been up there?

00:13:59.740 --> 00:14:05.680
VIRGINIA: Yes, I've been there before it became Villains Lair or whatever it's called.

00:14:05.680 --> 00:14:07.840
VIRGINIA: Then I've been since it's become Villains Lair.

00:14:09.500 --> 00:14:12.620
VIRGINIA: It's just as long as there's room.

00:14:14.060 --> 00:14:24.120
VIRGINIA: I think that you can go up there even if you are not necessarily going to have something to drink, if you're just going to go out on the balcony.

00:14:25.180 --> 00:14:35.340
VIRGINIA: You check in at the elevators in Bay Lake Tower and they're on the floor where there's the pass through to the main building.

00:14:35.340 --> 00:14:44.480
VIRGINIA: There's a concierge host type person, or at least there was the last time I did it, which it's been at least a year and a half, two years maybe now since.

00:14:44.480 --> 00:14:45.620
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:14:45.620 --> 00:15:01.740
VIRGINIA: But you check in and you say we want to go up to top of the world, and they will ask to verify your DVC membership and that you are a direct owner, so you have access to all the rights and privileges of a direct owner.

00:15:01.740 --> 00:15:01.960
AMY: Right.

00:15:01.960 --> 00:15:03.580
VIRGINIA: And then you just head on up.

00:15:03.580 --> 00:15:06.320
VIRGINIA: And it's not super big.

00:15:06.320 --> 00:15:07.680
VIRGINIA: The drinks are very good.

00:15:07.680 --> 00:15:16.680
VIRGINIA: I wouldn't go there necessarily for the food, but they do have like a layer cake that they're kind of famous for that has like a ton of layers.

00:15:16.680 --> 00:15:19.940
VIRGINIA: So maybe do your dessert there.

00:15:19.940 --> 00:15:23.880
VIRGINIA: And then they have a balcony that you can walk out on too.

00:15:23.880 --> 00:15:25.000
AMY: All right, thank you.

00:15:25.000 --> 00:15:26.580
AMY: All right, maybe we'll give that a try.

00:15:26.580 --> 00:15:29.440
AMY: It sounds, that sounds like a great place to go.

00:15:29.440 --> 00:15:40.560
VIRGINIA: Yeah, and if you can't get in there, I would consider seeing if there's room for you at the bar at California Grill and just say, can we go up to have a drink and dessert at the bar?

00:15:40.560 --> 00:15:42.560
VIRGINIA: And then you also have access to the outside.

00:15:42.560 --> 00:15:43.120
AMY: Wonderful.

00:15:43.120 --> 00:15:44.000
AMY: Okay.

00:15:44.000 --> 00:15:47.080
AMY: So yeah, I'm excited about doing a little monorail crawl.

00:15:47.080 --> 00:15:48.780
AMY: I've never done that before.

00:15:48.780 --> 00:15:48.940
AMY: Yeah.

00:15:50.020 --> 00:15:50.500
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:15:50.500 --> 00:15:52.980
VIRGINIA: Thursday, April 24th.

00:15:52.980 --> 00:15:54.140
VIRGINIA: Back to Epcot.

00:15:54.140 --> 00:16:03.700
AMY: So this day, we're actually going into Disney Springs, and we're doing the wine tasting at Wine Bar George.

00:16:03.700 --> 00:16:05.600
VIRGINIA: Oh, okay.

00:16:05.600 --> 00:16:09.140
VIRGINIA: Are you all big wine connoisseurs?

00:16:09.140 --> 00:16:13.220
AMY: I would not say that I'm a connoisseur, but we do really enjoy wine.

00:16:13.220 --> 00:16:16.780
AMY: And I've heard great things about this tasting.

00:16:16.780 --> 00:16:18.280
AMY: Have you been to Wine Bar George?

00:16:18.960 --> 00:16:19.820
VIRGINIA: I have.

00:16:19.820 --> 00:16:25.660
VIRGINIA: Is this the tasting that George actually leads?

00:16:25.660 --> 00:16:26.720
VIRGINIA: Oh my gosh.

00:16:26.720 --> 00:16:28.000
AMY: And I did a little research.

00:16:28.000 --> 00:16:35.360
AMY: He's a master sommelier, if I'm saying that correctly, and there's less than 300 of them in the world.

00:16:35.360 --> 00:16:37.800
AMY: So it's just very impressive.

00:16:37.800 --> 00:16:39.920
AMY: But I don't know if you've ever met him.

00:16:39.920 --> 00:16:41.780
AMY: He's so down to earth.

00:16:41.780 --> 00:16:47.320
AMY: You see him in the restaurant, seating people, serving food, helping to clear the table.

00:16:47.940 --> 00:16:51.040
AMY: He's just a very down to earth person.

00:16:51.040 --> 00:16:51.620
VIRGINIA: Yeah.

00:16:51.620 --> 00:16:54.320
VIRGINIA: Oh, that would be so much fun.

00:16:54.320 --> 00:16:56.020
VIRGINIA: I love Wine Bar, George.

00:16:56.020 --> 00:17:03.080
VIRGINIA: It is obviously good wine, but they also have really good things to eat there too.

00:17:04.300 --> 00:17:10.300
AMY: The food is great, and they sell wine by the ounce, which is so, I think, unique.

00:17:10.300 --> 00:17:12.060
AMY: I don't know if other places do that.

00:17:13.080 --> 00:17:17.560
AMY: If you have an expensive wine you want to try, you could just buy one ounce.

00:17:17.560 --> 00:17:27.400
AMY: I was there in January with my older son who is 21, and I ordered a glass of wine, and I didn't feel like a whole other glass of wine, so I ordered a half glass.

00:17:27.500 --> 00:17:29.660
AMY: I just think that's so nice.

00:17:29.660 --> 00:17:30.040
VIRGINIA: Yeah.

00:17:30.040 --> 00:17:31.740
VIRGINIA: It's nice to have that flexibility.

00:17:33.080 --> 00:17:39.640
AMY: The tables are so knowledgeable and they help you so much, so I really would highly recommend it.

00:17:39.640 --> 00:17:40.800
AMY: It's a great spot.

00:17:40.800 --> 00:17:41.620
VIRGINIA: They're very nice.

00:17:41.840 --> 00:17:52.880
VIRGINIA: I broke a glass there on accident, and they were so kind about it, even when I broke the glass and I said, Mazel Tov, I'm so sorry I broke this glass.

00:17:54.340 --> 00:17:55.200
AMY: That's hilarious.

00:17:55.200 --> 00:17:55.960
VIRGINIA: I couldn't help it.

00:17:55.960 --> 00:17:59.080
VIRGINIA: We had a lot of appetizers, so there was not a whole lot of room on the table.

00:18:00.080 --> 00:18:01.020
AMY: That's funny.

00:18:01.020 --> 00:18:04.620
AMY: I'm sure that is not the first glass that has been broken there.

00:18:05.660 --> 00:18:07.200
VIRGINIA: I'm sure.

00:18:07.200 --> 00:18:08.420
VIRGINIA: But they were just so nice about it.

00:18:08.420 --> 00:18:12.140
VIRGINIA: It made me feel much better about the whole situation.

00:18:14.180 --> 00:18:16.600
VIRGINIA: Anything else that's happening that day?

00:18:16.600 --> 00:18:22.720
AMY: I'm not a good day drinker and wine tasting is at noon, so I'm sure I'll just be tired afterwards.

00:18:22.720 --> 00:18:29.420
AMY: But I think we'll have lunch, whether we eat at Wine Bar George or we walk around Disney Springs a little bit.

00:18:29.420 --> 00:18:31.240
AMY: We'll have a late lunch.

00:18:31.240 --> 00:18:32.900
AMY: We'll go back to the resort.

00:18:32.900 --> 00:18:35.400
AMY: I think again, we'll be tired.

00:18:35.400 --> 00:18:41.120
AMY: We'll probably just relax for a while, either in the room or maybe we could go to the pool for a while.

00:18:41.120 --> 00:18:47.160
AMY: Then I'd like to go to Hollywood Studios that night and see Fantasmic.

00:18:47.160 --> 00:18:49.440
AMY: I'm really hoping that we can do that.

00:18:51.080 --> 00:18:52.780
VIRGINIA: Has it been a while since you've seen it?

00:18:52.780 --> 00:18:53.760
AMY: Years.

00:18:53.760 --> 00:18:54.900
AMY: I would really like to see it.

00:18:56.020 --> 00:18:56.200
AMY: Years.

00:18:56.200 --> 00:18:58.140
VIRGINIA: How have you gone that long, Amy?

00:18:58.140 --> 00:19:02.240
AMY: I can't offer a reasonable explanation to you.

00:19:02.240 --> 00:19:13.680
AMY: For some reason, we tend to stay at a place where we can see either Epcot or Magic Kingdom fireworks, sometimes even from the resort.

00:19:13.680 --> 00:19:17.380
AMY: Sometimes it's hard to get people back into the park that night.

00:19:18.400 --> 00:19:19.960
AMY: That's the issue.

00:19:19.960 --> 00:19:20.960
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:19:20.960 --> 00:19:22.680
VIRGINIA: Well, Fantasmic is so good.

00:19:22.920 --> 00:19:29.760
VIRGINIA: My hope is that you'll go over there and Joe will be like, oh, we should do this every time.

00:19:29.760 --> 00:19:33.600
VIRGINIA: It's so different and it's not a fireworks show.

00:19:34.320 --> 00:19:36.240
VIRGINIA: It's much more than that.

00:19:36.240 --> 00:19:39.140
AMY: I'm really hoping that we'll see it that night.

00:19:39.140 --> 00:19:43.840
AMY: But if for some reason we don't, we could see it our last night.

00:19:43.840 --> 00:19:45.720
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:19:45.720 --> 00:19:46.180
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:19:46.180 --> 00:19:52.660
VIRGINIA: Speaking of your last night, let's go into your last full day, which is Friday, April the 25th.

00:19:52.660 --> 00:19:54.480
AMY: We're going to Animal Kingdom.

00:19:54.480 --> 00:19:58.720
AMY: I did buy the multi-pass and the individual passes.

00:19:58.720 --> 00:20:05.300
AMY: I'll go on Guardians at Epcot, but then in the park in Animal Kingdom, we'll go on Avatar.

00:20:05.300 --> 00:20:11.380
AMY: And then I also booked the Safari, the Nemo show.

00:20:11.380 --> 00:20:12.140
AMY: What else?

00:20:12.140 --> 00:20:14.520
AMY: Oh, Navi River Journey.

00:20:14.520 --> 00:20:16.420
VIRGINIA: So are you starting in Animal Kingdom?

00:20:16.420 --> 00:20:19.200
AMY: Yeah, and I'll just do Guardians by myself in the afternoon.

00:20:19.640 --> 00:20:26.380
VIRGINIA: Are you going to take a break before you go potentially see Fantasmic after you do Guardians?

00:20:26.380 --> 00:20:26.740
AMY: Yeah.

00:20:26.740 --> 00:20:31.600
AMY: So we'll be at Animal Kingdom in the morning.

00:20:31.600 --> 00:20:32.420
AMY: We'll come back.

00:20:32.420 --> 00:20:34.260
AMY: I'm not sure where we'll have lunch yet.

00:20:34.260 --> 00:20:40.760
AMY: I'm kind of hoping to get maybe a drink at Nomad Lounge, go back and go on Guardians.

00:20:40.760 --> 00:20:45.420
AMY: I do have Ravello penciled in for dinner.

00:20:45.420 --> 00:20:51.940
AMY: And again, then we'll either do Fantasmic or the Epcot fireworks that night.

00:20:51.940 --> 00:20:53.560
VIRGINIA: Have you eaten at Ravello before?

00:20:53.560 --> 00:20:56.060
AMY: We ate there once and we loved it.

00:20:56.060 --> 00:20:59.560
AMY: And I heard that you went on your last trip.

00:20:59.560 --> 00:21:02.960
VIRGINIA: The meatballs were probably my favorite thing I had there.

00:21:02.960 --> 00:21:03.780
VIRGINIA: Delicious.

00:21:03.780 --> 00:21:09.680
AMY: I'm not a red meat eater, but I will recommend this for my husband.

00:21:09.680 --> 00:21:11.920
AMY: We had a great meal there one night.

00:21:11.920 --> 00:21:14.860
AMY: I just found it just really beautiful and relaxing there.

00:21:15.200 --> 00:21:28.600
VIRGINIA: It's nice to get away from the parks and your resorts, but you still feel like you're in the Disney bubble, being over there at the Four Seasons.

00:21:28.600 --> 00:21:36.180
VIRGINIA: And it's nice just to check it out so that when you win the lottery and you're ready to buy your Golden Oak home, that you have a sense of where you're going.

00:21:36.180 --> 00:21:41.540
VIRGINIA: I mean, it's really important to understand.

00:21:41.600 --> 00:21:45.700
AMY: I would like to start staying at some of the Four Seasons resorts.

00:21:47.940 --> 00:21:51.700
VIRGINIA: Are you on the Golden Oak email list like I am?

00:21:51.700 --> 00:21:53.800
AMY: No, I did not even know that existed.

00:21:53.800 --> 00:21:55.660
VIRGINIA: I have no idea how I got on there.

00:21:55.660 --> 00:21:59.400
VIRGINIA: But I get emails every once in a while.

00:21:59.400 --> 00:22:00.900
VIRGINIA: It's not like every day or anything.

00:22:00.900 --> 00:22:02.120
VIRGINIA: But I got one just today.

00:22:02.120 --> 00:22:08.700
VIRGINIA: So I was thinking about it, inviting me to come and tour potentially my future home.

00:22:08.760 --> 00:22:12.860
VIRGINIA: And I'm just like, yeah, that would be nice.

00:22:12.860 --> 00:22:13.620
AMY: Really funny.

00:22:13.620 --> 00:22:15.780
AMY: I wonder how you got on that list.

00:22:15.780 --> 00:22:16.160
VIRGINIA: I don't know.

00:22:16.160 --> 00:22:18.820
VIRGINIA: I tend to get on lots of mailing lists somehow.

00:22:18.820 --> 00:22:26.220
VIRGINIA: I, in my personal email, have somehow gotten on French mailing lists.

00:22:26.220 --> 00:22:29.100
VIRGINIA: So I constantly get emails in French.

00:22:29.100 --> 00:22:36.500
VIRGINIA: And then at work, somehow my work email has gotten on a bunch of lists for a bunch of graduate programs.

00:22:37.000 --> 00:22:45.120
VIRGINIA: And so I'll get the random emails like, thank you for looking into getting your Masters of Divinity at such and such university.

00:22:45.120 --> 00:22:53.480
VIRGINIA: Or we see you're interested in, you know, attending UPenn's business school for PhD and whatever.

00:22:53.480 --> 00:22:55.540
VIRGINIA: I have no idea.

00:22:55.540 --> 00:23:00.900
VIRGINIA: Either my email addresses have been sold somewhere or somebody is pranking me.

00:23:00.900 --> 00:23:01.760
VIRGINIA: I don't know.

00:23:01.760 --> 00:23:12.140
VIRGINIA: The French one, though, is annoying because sometimes the way that they word how to unsubscribe, I have to do Google Translate to find where it is in the email to click on.

00:23:12.140 --> 00:23:22.240
VIRGINIA: And then it feels like, it feels like you're trying to dig your way out of a quicksandhole because you can hit unsubscribe on as many of them as you can, but it's just like they're never ending.

00:23:22.240 --> 00:23:24.020
VIRGINIA: So I've kind of given up.

00:23:24.260 --> 00:23:32.220
VIRGINIA: It's the reason that my email inbox appears to have 20,000 unread emails in it.

00:23:32.220 --> 00:23:32.480
VIRGINIA: I know.

00:23:32.740 --> 00:23:36.700
AMY: I think I would just give up and get a new email address.

00:23:36.700 --> 00:23:40.540
VIRGINIA: I mean, I want to, but I don't know.

00:23:41.520 --> 00:23:46.660
VIRGINIA: I've had this email for a while and I already deal with multiple email addresses.

00:23:46.660 --> 00:23:54.360
VIRGINIA: So I've gotten to where my way to deal with it is just to scan through anything that came through that day and be like, do I need to read it?

00:23:54.360 --> 00:23:57.900
VIRGINIA: And I've just stopped caring about clearing out ones that I don't need.

00:23:57.940 --> 00:23:59.600
VIRGINIA: And I'm just like, they just sit there.

00:23:59.600 --> 00:24:00.020
VIRGINIA: It's okay.

00:24:00.920 --> 00:24:05.860
VIRGINIA: Life will go on whether I open that email and mark it as unread or mark it as read or not.

00:24:05.860 --> 00:24:07.040
VIRGINIA: Yes, exactly.

00:24:07.040 --> 00:24:10.340
VIRGINIA: Anyway, out of email talk.

00:24:12.220 --> 00:24:12.980
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:24:12.980 --> 00:24:17.880
VIRGINIA: So that brings us to your departure day, which is Saturday, April the 26th.

00:24:17.880 --> 00:24:20.400
VIRGINIA: How much of this day do you have to play with?

00:24:22.100 --> 00:24:23.500
AMY: I probably said 11 o'clock.

00:24:23.500 --> 00:24:24.740
AMY: That's not bad.

00:24:24.740 --> 00:24:28.340
AMY: So I'm sure we're getting picked up three hours before.

00:24:29.460 --> 00:24:31.720
AMY: 8 o'clock, 8 o'clock.

00:24:31.720 --> 00:24:34.880
AMY: So not much of the day, I guess.

00:24:34.880 --> 00:24:35.400
VIRGINIA: Right.

00:24:35.400 --> 00:24:45.680
VIRGINIA: Enough time to perhaps enjoy one last coffee at Disney and maybe something from the Boardwalk Bakery or whatever they call it these days.

00:24:45.680 --> 00:24:46.940
AMY: Exactly.

00:24:46.940 --> 00:24:50.440
AMY: Take a little stroll, get a coffee.

00:24:50.440 --> 00:24:50.980
VIRGINIA: Yeah, that's true.

00:24:50.980 --> 00:24:53.500
VIRGINIA: You could get an early morning walk in around the Boardwalk.

00:24:53.500 --> 00:24:56.820
VIRGINIA: Get your steps in before you go sit on a plane for three hours.

00:24:58.020 --> 00:25:00.120
VIRGINIA: What airline are you flying?

00:25:00.120 --> 00:25:01.260
VIRGINIA: Southwest?

00:25:01.260 --> 00:25:01.600
AMY: Yeah.

00:25:01.600 --> 00:25:02.360
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:25:02.360 --> 00:25:03.500
VIRGINIA: Is that Terminal C?

00:25:03.500 --> 00:25:03.920
AMY: Yeah.

00:25:03.920 --> 00:25:04.940
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:25:04.940 --> 00:25:08.300
VIRGINIA: You could grab another wine bar, George, on your way out too.

00:25:10.000 --> 00:25:10.840
AMY: No.

00:25:10.840 --> 00:25:14.180
AMY: I thought wine bar George was Terminal B.

00:25:14.180 --> 00:25:15.020
VIRGINIA: No.

00:25:15.020 --> 00:25:15.240
VIRGINIA: No.

00:25:15.240 --> 00:25:16.460
VIRGINIA: A and B are combined.

00:25:16.460 --> 00:25:17.720
VIRGINIA: That's the old one.

00:25:17.720 --> 00:25:21.420
VIRGINIA: Remember where you can see A and B across from each other?

00:25:21.420 --> 00:25:24.140
VIRGINIA: And C is the totally separate one, the new one.

00:25:24.200 --> 00:25:26.120
AMY: So we are in the old one.

00:25:27.160 --> 00:25:31.260
AMY: It's JetBlue that flies into the new terminal.

00:25:31.260 --> 00:25:31.540
VIRGINIA: Yes.

00:25:31.540 --> 00:25:35.200
VIRGINIA: JetBlue and many international flights fly into the new one.

00:25:36.680 --> 00:25:45.040
VIRGINIA: I had no idea where Southwest flew into because I've never once found a Southwest flight to Orlando from New York City that worked for me.

00:25:45.040 --> 00:25:47.120
VIRGINIA: So it's a mystery to me.

00:25:47.840 --> 00:25:49.200
VIRGINIA: I hear they have great deals though.

00:25:49.200 --> 00:25:51.080
VIRGINIA: I would love to find a flight that works.

00:25:51.200 --> 00:25:58.620
VIRGINIA: But anything else, I mean, what I'm hearing is Flower and Garden and Cosmic Rewind are the two biggest priorities for you.

00:25:58.620 --> 00:25:59.640
AMY: Exactly.

00:25:59.640 --> 00:26:07.340
AMY: My husband laughed out loud when I said this, but I really think this will be a more relaxed pace for us.

00:26:07.400 --> 00:26:13.520
AMY: Usually, I am just walking as fast as I can for the entire day when I'm at Disney.

00:26:13.520 --> 00:26:17.320
AMY: But I really do anticipate just the slower pace.

00:26:17.320 --> 00:26:20.320
AMY: It's going to be 90 degrees every day that we're there.

00:26:20.920 --> 00:26:22.360
AMY: It's only the two of us.

00:26:22.360 --> 00:26:27.520
AMY: We've been quite a bit, so I do think it'll be just more relaxed.

00:26:27.520 --> 00:26:36.500
VIRGINIA: Does he like to spend a lot of time at the resorts, or does he like going into the parks, but just enjoying the vibes?

00:26:37.280 --> 00:26:39.060
VIRGINIA: What is his usual MO?

00:26:39.060 --> 00:26:50.820
AMY: He does enjoy the parks, but he doesn't want to be there from rope drop to the end of the fireworks.

00:26:50.820 --> 00:26:52.240
AMY: So he doesn't enjoy the parks.

00:26:52.240 --> 00:26:58.500
AMY: He doesn't enjoy a lot of rides, but he also does enjoy the resorts as well.

00:26:59.040 --> 00:27:06.540
AMY: If we're at Hollywood Studios, he likes to go on a ride, see a show, go get a beer, just like a more relaxed face.

00:27:06.540 --> 00:27:07.480
VIRGINIA: Okay.

00:27:07.480 --> 00:27:11.640
VIRGINIA: Well, I hope that you too can be relaxed during this trip.

00:27:11.780 --> 00:27:17.360
VIRGINIA: I know how it is to be a go go go person and to really try to make that switch.

00:27:17.360 --> 00:27:21.760
VIRGINIA: It takes like a conscious effort at first until it becomes more natural.

00:27:21.760 --> 00:27:28.800
VIRGINIA: It just feels unnatural for some of us who are Disney diehards to to make ourselves slow down.

00:27:28.800 --> 00:27:33.180
VIRGINIA: But I have to say, when I do, I always enjoy it.

00:27:33.180 --> 00:27:34.780
VIRGINIA: I always appreciate that I've done it.

00:27:34.780 --> 00:27:38.020
AMY: So I say to my family, why are we walking so fast?

00:27:41.280 --> 00:27:43.300
AMY: There is absolutely no reason.

00:27:43.300 --> 00:27:45.940
AMY: We have a half hour to get to the next ride.

00:27:45.940 --> 00:27:48.480
AMY: We do not need to be walking at this pace.

00:27:48.480 --> 00:27:53.820
AMY: And I do think if I could slow down a little bit, I might see some things I've never seen before.

00:27:53.820 --> 00:27:54.460
VIRGINIA: Yeah.

00:27:54.460 --> 00:27:55.440
VIRGINIA: Yeah.

00:27:55.440 --> 00:27:55.960
VIRGINIA: All right.

00:27:55.960 --> 00:28:01.440
VIRGINIA: Well, Amy, I am looking forward to talking to you again when you get back and hearing about all of these adventures.

00:28:01.440 --> 00:28:03.960
VIRGINIA: Thank you so much for being here with me today.

00:28:03.960 --> 00:28:05.780
VIRGINIA: And I will talk to you again very soon.

00:28:05.980 --> 00:28:07.740
AMY: Thank you so much, Virginia.

00:28:08.860 --> 00:28:11.620
VIRGINIA: Thank you so much, Amy, for returning to the show.

00:28:11.620 --> 00:28:14.140
VIRGINIA: Amy's Post Trip Report episode is up next.

00:28:14.140 --> 00:28:22.260
VIRGINIA: So make sure you are subscribed to the podcast on the podcast app of your choice so that you will always have access to the latest episodes.

00:28:22.260 --> 00:28:24.700
VIRGINIA: I hope everyone has a magical week.

00:28:24.700 --> 00:28:27.980
VIRGINIA: And as always, keep daydreaming about where you long to be.
