Lizzie is planning a big trip with her kids Duncan (6) and Ginger (3), her sister Katie and nephews Walker (13) and Joe (10), and their mom Annie joining in for the fun. The whole group will be staying at the Swan, but Lizzie is planning to tack on an extra day at the beginning of the trip at the Polynesian for some resort time with her little ones and wrapping up the trip with a night at Pop Century. This large group plans to have one full park day together and otherwise will be coming back together at the end of their days to reconnect in the evenings.

00:00:12.157 --> 00:00:15.857
VIRGINIA: Welcome to Where I Long To Be A Magical Trip Report Podcast.
00:00:15.857 --> 00:00:18.237
VIRGINIA: My name is Virginia, and I am your host.
00:00:18.237 --> 00:00:21.197
VIRGINIA: Happy belated May the 4th be with you.
00:00:21.197 --> 00:00:23.817
VIRGINIA: I hope your celebrations were out of this world.
00:00:23.817 --> 00:00:29.617
VIRGINIA: I didn't get the chance to do anything myself, but I did enjoy seeing everyone's posts on Instagram.
00:00:29.617 --> 00:00:39.717
VIRGINIA: And on a related note, I managed to get an Okas reservation for my June Disneyland trip for myself and all of my coworkers for the one night we will all be in the parks together.
00:00:39.717 --> 00:00:46.117
VIRGINIA: So I am really looking forward to sharing that with them since I don't think any of them have seen it before.
00:00:46.117 --> 00:00:51.617
VIRGINIA: Okay, speaking of trip planning, it is time to get into this week's pre-trip episode.
00:00:51.617 --> 00:00:53.977
VIRGINIA: Thank you all for being along for the ride.
00:00:53.977 --> 00:00:56.497
VIRGINIA: And with that, here's Lizzie.
00:00:57.597 --> 00:00:59.197
VIRGINIA: Lizzie, welcome to the podcast.
00:00:59.817 --> 00:01:01.157
VIRGINIA: Hello, hello.
00:01:01.157 --> 00:01:02.497
VIRGINIA: Hello, hello.
00:01:02.497 --> 00:01:05.237
VIRGINIA: Thank you so much for hopping on with me today.
00:01:05.237 --> 00:01:06.037
LIZZIE: Of course.
00:01:06.037 --> 00:01:10.237
VIRGINIA: I am so excited to talk some Disney here on a Sunday morning.
00:01:10.237 --> 00:01:11.057
LIZZIE: Yes, same.
00:01:11.057 --> 00:01:12.757
LIZZIE: I'm very excited.
00:01:12.757 --> 00:01:14.377
VIRGINIA: Tell me a little bit about yourself.
00:01:14.377 --> 00:01:15.757
VIRGINIA: Where are you from?
00:01:15.757 --> 00:01:17.917
VIRGINIA: And how often do you go to Disney?
00:01:17.917 --> 00:01:19.417
VIRGINIA: Is this a once in a lifetime trip?
00:01:19.417 --> 00:01:22.377
VIRGINIA: Is this a I go every year thing?
00:01:22.377 --> 00:01:23.997
VIRGINIA: What's your background?
00:01:23.997 --> 00:01:27.537
LIZZIE: Okay, so we live outside of Boone, North Carolina.
00:01:29.417 --> 00:01:32.097
VIRGINIA: Very familiar with Boone.
00:01:32.097 --> 00:01:34.577
LIZZIE: A mountain town area with a university.
00:01:34.577 --> 00:01:36.597
LIZZIE: So yeah, we're up here.
00:01:36.597 --> 00:01:39.697
LIZZIE: We have a little bit of a hobby farm, I'd say.
00:01:39.697 --> 00:01:43.017
LIZZIE: And I have grown up going to Disney.
00:01:43.017 --> 00:01:44.737
LIZZIE: I grew up in Florida.
00:01:44.737 --> 00:01:47.577
VIRGINIA: So we're in Florida, Jacksonville.
00:01:47.577 --> 00:01:49.597
LIZZIE: Okay, so not too far away.
00:01:49.597 --> 00:01:54.677
LIZZIE: So definitely did some high school, junior high trips.
00:01:54.857 --> 00:01:58.097
LIZZIE: We did competitions there.
00:01:58.097 --> 00:02:04.657
LIZZIE: I actually grew up singing at the, help me, the Christmas.
00:02:04.657 --> 00:02:07.757
VIRGINIA: Oh, the Candlelight Professional.
00:02:07.757 --> 00:02:09.617
VIRGINIA: Candlelight Processional.
00:02:09.617 --> 00:02:10.377
LIZZIE: Yes, yes.
00:02:10.377 --> 00:02:12.617
VIRGINIA: Sorry, I haven't finished my coffee yet.
00:02:14.477 --> 00:02:21.117
LIZZIE: So yeah, I did that twice during my high school singing career, and it was absolutely wonderful.
00:02:21.117 --> 00:02:31.697
LIZZIE: And took family trips, did a grandmother's 70th birthday trip there and with my whole family, which was one of my favorite family memories.
00:02:31.697 --> 00:02:35.937
LIZZIE: So I grew up going to Disney, then took a little Disney break.
00:02:35.937 --> 00:02:40.997
LIZZIE: And in my 30s, I had a friend come from Indonesia and went back to Disney.
00:02:41.037 --> 00:02:43.457
LIZZIE: And it was like, wow, this is like really change.
00:02:43.457 --> 00:02:47.357
LIZZIE: It's it's fun going back as an adult.
00:02:47.357 --> 00:02:49.537
LIZZIE: And then took another break and had kids.
00:02:49.537 --> 00:02:54.397
LIZZIE: And last year was the first year we went to Disney as a family.
00:02:54.397 --> 00:02:54.917
VIRGINIA: All right.
00:02:54.917 --> 00:02:57.837
VIRGINIA: So who are the members of your family?
00:02:57.837 --> 00:03:00.957
LIZZIE: I've got my son, Duncan, and he is six.
00:03:00.957 --> 00:03:04.477
LIZZIE: And my daughter, Ginger, and she is three.
00:03:04.477 --> 00:03:07.397
LIZZIE: And my husband, Miles, and but he is not.
00:03:08.977 --> 00:03:10.797
VIRGINIA: And I was just going to say, you don't have to say his age.
00:03:10.797 --> 00:03:12.017
VIRGINIA: That's fine.
00:03:13.277 --> 00:03:16.697
LIZZIE: I will keep that in package.
00:03:16.697 --> 00:03:16.997
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:03:16.997 --> 00:03:18.277
VIRGINIA: So just the three of you.
00:03:18.277 --> 00:03:19.577
LIZZIE: Well, yes.
00:03:19.577 --> 00:03:21.137
LIZZIE: And then others.
00:03:21.137 --> 00:03:21.437
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:03:21.617 --> 00:03:23.597
VIRGINIA: And special guest stars.
00:03:23.597 --> 00:03:26.417
VIRGINIA: I have to ask, is Ginger of Virginia?
00:03:26.417 --> 00:03:27.437
LIZZIE: She is.
00:03:27.437 --> 00:03:28.937
LIZZIE: Oh, yay.
00:03:30.077 --> 00:03:32.137
LIZZIE: She is named after my grandmother.
00:03:32.177 --> 00:03:40.157
LIZZIE: And when she, we decided on Virginia and we were going to nickname her Ginger, just in case she turned out to be a redhead.
00:03:40.157 --> 00:03:41.697
LIZZIE: I'm a redhead.
00:03:41.697 --> 00:03:44.157
VIRGINIA: For listeners, Lizzie is a redhead.
00:03:44.157 --> 00:03:46.297
LIZZIE: And she was born with no hair.
00:03:46.297 --> 00:03:52.597
LIZZIE: And I called my mom and I was like, hey, if she's a blonde, do you think it's still weird that we call her Ginger?
00:03:52.597 --> 00:03:53.777
LIZZIE: And she was like, not at all.
00:03:53.777 --> 00:03:55.077
LIZZIE: You do what you want to do.
00:03:55.077 --> 00:03:58.297
LIZZIE: And so she ended up having ginger hair.
00:04:00.097 --> 00:04:00.937
VIRGINIA: That's so cute.
00:04:01.137 --> 00:04:03.857
VIRGINIA: My grandmother was named Virginia too, which is how I got my name.
00:04:03.857 --> 00:04:07.017
VIRGINIA: There was a time in my life where I was like, I wish people called me Ginger.
00:04:07.017 --> 00:04:08.657
VIRGINIA: I grew up as a Ginny.
00:04:08.657 --> 00:04:12.777
LIZZIE: Well, that's what I love about Virginia is there's like a lot of nicknames.
00:04:12.777 --> 00:04:18.477
VIRGINIA: Yeah, as soon as I got to college, I started going by Virginia in class, but then my friends would call me Ginny.
00:04:18.477 --> 00:04:20.957
VIRGINIA: And it was so funny because they would call me Ginny with a G.
00:04:20.957 --> 00:04:21.877
VIRGINIA: And like, that was the whole thing.
00:04:21.877 --> 00:04:23.117
VIRGINIA: Like Ginny with a G.
00:04:23.117 --> 00:04:25.477
VIRGINIA: Because I like hated it when people thought I was a Ginny.
00:04:25.477 --> 00:04:26.837
VIRGINIA: There's a difference.
00:04:26.837 --> 00:04:29.877
VIRGINIA: And then when I moved to New York, I just made the full switch to Virginia.
00:04:29.997 --> 00:04:35.457
VIRGINIA: So now at this point for 25 years, like the only people who call me Ginny are like really old friends and my family.
00:04:35.457 --> 00:04:38.597
LIZZIE: Well, again, it's one of those names that you can grow with and change.
00:04:38.597 --> 00:04:40.097
LIZZIE: And I just love it.
00:04:40.097 --> 00:04:42.677
LIZZIE: I'm so excited that we decided on that.
00:04:42.677 --> 00:04:46.357
LIZZIE: I don't think I would have ever thought that I would have named her Virginia when I was younger.
00:04:46.357 --> 00:04:47.277
LIZZIE: But you know.
00:04:47.277 --> 00:04:49.617
VIRGINIA: My aunt name is Aunt Ginger.
00:04:49.617 --> 00:04:58.077
VIRGINIA: And I feel like when I am eventually crossing my fingers one day, a grandmother, I think I'd like to be a Gigi.
00:04:58.077 --> 00:04:59.037
LIZZIE: Ooh, I like it.
00:04:59.097 --> 00:05:01.357
VIRGINIA: Yeah, I'm just going to transition.
00:05:01.357 --> 00:05:03.137
VIRGINIA: I'm in my Gigi era.
00:05:03.137 --> 00:05:05.997
VIRGINIA: All right, what are the dates of your trip?
00:05:05.997 --> 00:05:10.517
LIZZIE: We are leaving on April 6, and we are coming back on the 12th.
00:05:10.517 --> 00:05:15.057
VIRGINIA: Who are the special guest stars that are going to be joining you throughout the course of the trip?
00:05:15.057 --> 00:05:20.077
LIZZIE: So it's going to be my sister Katie and her two boys, Walker and Joe.
00:05:20.077 --> 00:05:23.457
LIZZIE: And they are 14 and 10, almost 11.
00:05:23.457 --> 00:05:25.257
LIZZIE: And my mother as well.
00:05:25.257 --> 00:05:27.217
LIZZIE: And my mom's name is Annie.
00:05:27.217 --> 00:05:27.657
VIRGINIA: Perfect.
00:05:27.857 --> 00:05:28.617
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:05:28.617 --> 00:05:31.297
VIRGINIA: So I got the whole family here.
00:05:31.297 --> 00:05:32.337
VIRGINIA: When are they joining you?
00:05:32.337 --> 00:05:36.877
VIRGINIA: If you're going down on the 6th, what day will they be arriving?
00:05:36.877 --> 00:05:39.737
LIZZIE: They are joining on the next day on the 7th.
00:05:39.737 --> 00:05:40.017
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:05:40.017 --> 00:05:43.777
VIRGINIA: And are they with you the rest of the time or they leave before you?
00:05:43.777 --> 00:05:47.937
LIZZIE: Well, we're doing a split stay three different times.
00:05:48.037 --> 00:05:48.977
LIZZIE: Oh, my word.
00:05:48.977 --> 00:05:50.257
LIZZIE: I know.
00:05:50.297 --> 00:05:54.037
LIZZIE: I think I went off the deep end on this one.
00:05:54.037 --> 00:05:56.657
LIZZIE: But they are going to leave on the 11th.
00:05:57.197 --> 00:06:01.317
LIZZIE: So, yeah, we'll have one more night, just the three of us.
00:06:01.317 --> 00:06:02.157
VIRGINIA: All right.
00:06:02.157 --> 00:06:07.397
VIRGINIA: How did you pick these dates and what inspired this trip and who's going on it?
00:06:07.397 --> 00:06:07.997
LIZZIE: Okay.
00:06:07.997 --> 00:06:08.577
LIZZIE: So...
00:06:08.577 --> 00:06:11.217
VIRGINIA: And then I don't mean who's going on it as if like, tell me who's going on it.
00:06:11.217 --> 00:06:12.537
VIRGINIA: Obviously, we just went through that.
00:06:12.537 --> 00:06:14.817
VIRGINIA: So listeners who are like, why is she asking that again?
00:06:14.817 --> 00:06:18.737
VIRGINIA: What I mean is, what inspired the group of you going?
00:06:18.737 --> 00:06:19.237
LIZZIE: Okay.
00:06:19.237 --> 00:06:23.777
LIZZIE: So my sister's boy spring break is during this time.
00:06:23.777 --> 00:06:26.077
LIZZIE: So we were like, okay, I have younger kids.
00:06:26.297 --> 00:06:27.937
LIZZIE: I don't mind taking my children out.
00:06:27.937 --> 00:06:34.697
LIZZIE: And we had such a fabulous time last year with my family because it's kind of one of those make or breaks.
00:06:34.697 --> 00:06:37.237
LIZZIE: Let's see how the first Disney trip goes.
00:06:37.317 --> 00:06:39.157
LIZZIE: Do we keep doing this?
00:06:39.157 --> 00:06:40.737
LIZZIE: And we had a great time.
00:06:40.737 --> 00:06:47.337
LIZZIE: So I talked to my sister and she's like, I would like to go with you and your family because they've been before as well.
00:06:47.337 --> 00:06:50.037
LIZZIE: And she was like, do we do a Disney cruise?
00:06:50.037 --> 00:06:50.577
LIZZIE: Do we do?
00:06:50.577 --> 00:06:51.377
LIZZIE: What do we do?
00:06:51.377 --> 00:06:54.157
LIZZIE: And so we kind of landed on that.
00:06:54.257 --> 00:06:58.117
LIZZIE: And then my mom was like, Well, I want to join too.
00:06:58.117 --> 00:07:02.717
LIZZIE: So it just kind of became all of us talking about it and loving it.
00:07:02.717 --> 00:07:06.597
LIZZIE: And it kind of just melded together as a spring break getaway.
00:07:06.597 --> 00:07:07.837
VIRGINIA: Sounds like so much fun.
00:07:07.837 --> 00:07:12.417
VIRGINIA: I would love to go on a Disney cruise, speaking of cruises, with my sister.
00:07:12.417 --> 00:07:18.237
VIRGINIA: That just feels like, especially with younger kids, it feels like a very doable trip.
00:07:18.237 --> 00:07:18.757
VIRGINIA: Vacation.
00:07:18.757 --> 00:07:19.117
LIZZIE: Yeah.
00:07:19.117 --> 00:07:19.517
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:07:19.557 --> 00:07:21.357
LIZZIE: Like you actually relax.
00:07:21.357 --> 00:07:22.017
VIRGINIA: Right.
00:07:22.017 --> 00:07:22.577
VIRGINIA: Right.
00:07:22.577 --> 00:07:23.837
VIRGINIA: You've planted a seed.
00:07:23.837 --> 00:07:26.477
VIRGINIA: I'm going to have to reach out to her.
00:07:26.477 --> 00:07:28.117
VIRGINIA: See what we can get going.
00:07:28.117 --> 00:07:28.657
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:07:28.657 --> 00:07:31.037
VIRGINIA: My husband does not want to cruise.
00:07:31.037 --> 00:07:31.697
LIZZIE: Same with mine.
00:07:31.697 --> 00:07:33.897
LIZZIE: And I'm also a little bit on the fence.
00:07:33.897 --> 00:07:36.177
LIZZIE: I've never done a cruise period before.
00:07:36.177 --> 00:07:36.857
VIRGINIA: Oh, you haven't?
00:07:36.857 --> 00:07:37.217
VIRGINIA: OK.
00:07:37.217 --> 00:07:38.437
VIRGINIA: I've only done one.
00:07:38.437 --> 00:07:39.297
VIRGINIA: And it was a carnival.
00:07:39.297 --> 00:07:43.477
VIRGINIA: So I don't even know if that counts in the eye of most cruisers.
00:07:43.477 --> 00:07:44.177
LIZZIE: Gotcha.
00:07:44.177 --> 00:07:45.837
VIRGINIA: You know, it's carnival.
00:07:45.837 --> 00:07:48.457
VIRGINIA: There are much better cruises out there, from what I understand.
00:07:48.577 --> 00:07:50.897
VIRGINIA: And it was 25 years ago at this point.
00:07:50.897 --> 00:07:53.817
VIRGINIA: So it's probably a different world.
00:07:56.037 --> 00:07:56.577
VIRGINIA: All right.
00:07:56.577 --> 00:08:00.637
VIRGINIA: So your sister has been before with both of her boys.
00:08:00.637 --> 00:08:03.617
VIRGINIA: And how often do they go?
00:08:03.617 --> 00:08:07.817
LIZZIE: You know, I think they've been a few times.
00:08:07.817 --> 00:08:10.617
LIZZIE: There's been some conferences that they've brought them to.
00:08:12.237 --> 00:08:18.637
LIZZIE: And I think they went right after COVID, like right when you're still wearing masks, they did Disney.
00:08:18.637 --> 00:08:21.257
LIZZIE: And then her son just went on a Disney trip.
00:08:21.257 --> 00:08:22.637
LIZZIE: We were like, oh, too soon.
00:08:22.637 --> 00:08:25.097
LIZZIE: Like in March, he went with his school.
00:08:25.097 --> 00:08:26.857
LIZZIE: So it's kind of funny.
00:08:26.857 --> 00:08:28.757
LIZZIE: He'll have a lot of Disney, but he loved it.
00:08:28.757 --> 00:08:30.677
LIZZIE: So we're excited.
00:08:30.677 --> 00:08:32.577
VIRGINIA: I mean, I can't get enough.
00:08:32.577 --> 00:08:33.597
LIZZIE: I know.
00:08:33.597 --> 00:08:35.337
LIZZIE: It is an addiction.
00:08:35.337 --> 00:08:36.317
VIRGINIA: It really is.
00:08:36.317 --> 00:08:42.477
VIRGINIA: I mean, the minute you are done with one trip, you're on to planning the next.
00:08:42.477 --> 00:08:43.157
LIZZIE: Yep.
00:08:43.157 --> 00:08:43.517
VIRGINIA: All right.
00:08:43.517 --> 00:08:44.777
VIRGINIA: So the split stay.
00:08:44.777 --> 00:08:46.797
VIRGINIA: Have you done a split stay before?
00:08:46.797 --> 00:08:47.697
LIZZIE: No.
00:08:47.697 --> 00:08:51.257
LIZZIE: And I'm a little intimidated, but I'm excited.
00:08:51.277 --> 00:08:58.617
VIRGINIA: I have done split stays where I've just hopped once and I've done one where I've hopped three times.
00:08:58.617 --> 00:09:02.397
VIRGINIA: The three time when I will be completely honest with you was a little bit much.
00:09:02.397 --> 00:09:06.317
VIRGINIA: It was like, I think it was three nights at each location.
00:09:07.277 --> 00:09:10.597
VIRGINIA: So how many nights are you doing at each location?
00:09:10.597 --> 00:09:11.077
LIZZIE: Okay.
00:09:11.077 --> 00:09:17.037
LIZZIE: So I got a good deal on a David's DVC rental for the Polynesian.
00:09:17.037 --> 00:09:22.297
LIZZIE: So I was like, oh, gosh, I wanted two nights, but then I was like, oh, okay, one night's fine.
00:09:22.297 --> 00:09:25.017
LIZZIE: And I just couldn't resist.
00:09:25.017 --> 00:09:29.477
LIZZIE: So the first one is for the Polynesian and we're just enjoying the resort.
00:09:29.477 --> 00:09:31.217
LIZZIE: So it's our first day.
00:09:31.217 --> 00:09:34.017
VIRGINIA: And so that's before they arrive anyway.
00:09:34.017 --> 00:09:35.917
VIRGINIA: So they're not staying at the Polynesian with you.
00:09:36.357 --> 00:09:36.577
LIZZIE: Right.
00:09:36.577 --> 00:09:44.037
LIZZIE: And it was kind of to get my kids acclimated for us to kind of get in the groove and be there when they show up.
00:09:44.037 --> 00:09:49.477
LIZZIE: And I don't know, I just couldn't resist it.
00:09:49.477 --> 00:09:54.077
VIRGINIA: Have you been over to the Polynesian recently since they put the new tower in?
00:09:54.077 --> 00:09:55.297
LIZZIE: No.
00:09:55.297 --> 00:09:57.317
LIZZIE: I've seen some of the videos.
00:09:58.897 --> 00:10:00.457
VIRGINIA: I mean, it's very easy to walk over there.
00:10:00.457 --> 00:10:07.777
VIRGINIA: And what I noticed when I walked past, they had a really good pool and like splash area.
00:10:07.777 --> 00:10:08.997
VIRGINIA: And I don't know if...
00:10:08.997 --> 00:10:11.257
VIRGINIA: I haven't looked at how the pool privileges work.
00:10:11.257 --> 00:10:18.777
VIRGINIA: I would assume that you would be able to go and use that pool, but maybe not if it's...
00:10:18.777 --> 00:10:19.917
LIZZIE: I think you can.
00:10:19.917 --> 00:10:20.597
LIZZIE: I think you can.
00:10:21.197 --> 00:10:31.317
VIRGINIA: I'm just trying to think like at the Contemporary, for example, there is a Bay Lake pool, which I think is only for the Bay Lake Tower people who are there.
00:10:31.317 --> 00:10:34.077
VIRGINIA: So I don't know if it's the same with the Polynesian tower.
00:10:34.077 --> 00:10:41.997
VIRGINIA: So you'll have to report back because as we were walking past, I was just like, oh my gosh, that looks so fun because it was Moana themed.
00:10:41.997 --> 00:10:42.477
LIZZIE: Yes.
00:10:42.477 --> 00:10:44.697
LIZZIE: And my kids love Moana.
00:10:44.697 --> 00:10:47.377
LIZZIE: So we would like to check it out if we can, for sure.
00:10:47.437 --> 00:10:53.557
VIRGINIA: Well, even if you can't, the main pool has a really great place for younger kids.
00:10:53.557 --> 00:11:02.797
VIRGINIA: I mean, the big pool is great too, but the little splash pad type area that's right next to the big main pool just looks amazing.
00:11:02.797 --> 00:11:03.977
LIZZIE: Yeah, I'm really excited.
00:11:04.477 --> 00:11:11.077
LIZZIE: We did Caribbean Beach last year and it felt like that pool was amazing, and it has similar vibes.
00:11:11.357 --> 00:11:16.217
LIZZIE: I feel like you get to love the tropical feel, so I'm excited.
00:11:16.217 --> 00:11:19.817
VIRGINIA: Do you know what kind of weather you're looking at at this point?
00:11:19.817 --> 00:11:37.917
LIZZIE: I think it's mid-80s and high 60s lows, you know, so my little mountain family, anything above 80 is going to be like intense, so I'm glad that thus far it's not in the 90s, you know?
00:11:38.517 --> 00:11:38.977
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:11:38.977 --> 00:11:43.757
VIRGINIA: Now, I love a low to mid-80s Disney day.
00:11:43.757 --> 00:11:46.237
VIRGINIA: That is perfect to me.
00:11:46.237 --> 00:11:46.637
VIRGINIA: All right.
00:11:46.637 --> 00:11:51.037
VIRGINIA: So One Night At The Polynesian, where do you go next?
00:11:51.037 --> 00:11:52.777
LIZZIE: We are going to...
00:11:52.777 --> 00:11:59.977
LIZZIE: My sister travels quite a bit with her business, and she has Marriott points, so we are going to the Swan and Dolphin next.
00:11:59.977 --> 00:12:00.397
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:12:00.397 --> 00:12:02.597
VIRGINIA: Do you know which side you will be on?
00:12:02.597 --> 00:12:04.357
LIZZIE: We are going to be on the Swan.
00:12:04.357 --> 00:12:05.397
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:12:05.397 --> 00:12:06.477
VIRGINIA: Have you stayed at the Swan before?
00:12:06.937 --> 00:12:08.117
LIZZIE: Never.
00:12:08.117 --> 00:12:08.377
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:12:08.377 --> 00:12:10.617
VIRGINIA: How many nights are you here?
00:12:10.617 --> 00:12:14.237
LIZZIE: That will be at the Swan for four nights.
00:12:14.237 --> 00:12:15.857
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:12:15.857 --> 00:12:18.937
VIRGINIA: I think I stayed at the Swan.
00:12:18.937 --> 00:12:27.357
VIRGINIA: I stayed at the Swan and Dolphin once, and I stayed at whichever one is when you're walking off of the boardwalk, the one that's on the left.
00:12:27.357 --> 00:12:27.997
LIZZIE: Okay.
00:12:27.997 --> 00:12:29.917
VIRGINIA: Whatever that is.
00:12:29.917 --> 00:12:30.497
VIRGINIA: It's nice.
00:12:31.097 --> 00:12:42.537
VIRGINIA: They have a lot of dining options there, I will say, that you've got lots of choices for restaurants and quick services and things like that right within the resort.
00:12:42.537 --> 00:12:44.117
LIZZIE: Well, and I think that's what's exciting, right?
00:12:44.117 --> 00:12:51.397
LIZZIE: Like for us to have little, like my sister, her kids will be fine, but to have littles, you know, they're kind of tired by the end of the night.
00:12:51.397 --> 00:13:03.557
LIZZIE: And the fact that we can just scoot downstairs and have a meal at Rosa Mexicana or Amari, you know, that's kind of exciting to just have that ease or the boardwalk.
00:13:03.557 --> 00:13:05.457
LIZZIE: I mean, it's not too far away either.
00:13:05.917 --> 00:13:20.757
VIRGINIA: Do you anticipate, because you have younger kids, but you also have a teenage nephew coming, do you anticipate there might be any babysitting while the three adults get to go downstairs?
00:13:20.757 --> 00:13:22.997
LIZZIE: Fingers crossed.
00:13:22.997 --> 00:13:29.377
VIRGINIA: Because I was going to say, you said that you sang, and one of the restaurants downstairs, I swear, it has karaoke.
00:13:29.377 --> 00:13:30.237
LIZZIE: Really?
00:13:30.257 --> 00:13:31.377
VIRGINIA: Yeah, I can't remember which one.
00:13:31.477 --> 00:13:33.117
LIZZIE: He loves karaoke too.
00:13:34.637 --> 00:13:38.677
LIZZIE: Well, and even if I think I could see my mom being like, I'll watch the kids.
00:13:38.677 --> 00:13:42.117
LIZZIE: So mom, fingers crossed.
00:13:44.337 --> 00:13:52.597
LIZZIE: I imagine there might be a couple getaway moments, hopefully, maybe even at Abercook Dabber Bar or I don't know.
00:13:52.597 --> 00:13:57.277
LIZZIE: I hope there's at least one sister-sister adventure.
00:13:57.277 --> 00:14:02.177
VIRGINIA: So Four Nights at the Swan and then where is your final destination?
00:14:02.177 --> 00:14:03.917
VIRGINIA: That sounded terrible.
00:14:03.917 --> 00:14:10.297
VIRGINIA: Final destination, it's like we're not talking like the movie and this is the end of everything for you.
00:14:11.457 --> 00:14:23.517
LIZZIE: Our final destination is Pop Century, which I feel like we kind of did everybody says do the budget first and then I am definitely doing that in reverse.
00:14:23.517 --> 00:14:25.837
LIZZIE: It feels a little bit like so.
00:14:27.137 --> 00:14:30.297
VIRGINIA: I mean, I've done both.
00:14:30.297 --> 00:14:34.457
VIRGINIA: I think if it's for one night, you'll be fine.
00:14:34.457 --> 00:14:40.517
VIRGINIA: I also think like pop is different than going to some other value resorts.
00:14:41.377 --> 00:14:42.777
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:14:42.777 --> 00:14:47.837
VIRGINIA: I had my very first All-Stars Day in January and the rooms were beautiful.
00:14:47.837 --> 00:14:49.617
VIRGINIA: They were renovated and everything.
00:14:49.617 --> 00:14:55.437
VIRGINIA: But having access to that Skyliner really makes a difference for Pop Century.
00:14:56.617 --> 00:14:58.697
LIZZIE: We stayed at Caribbean Beach last time.
00:14:58.697 --> 00:15:00.397
LIZZIE: We love the Skyliner.
00:15:00.397 --> 00:15:05.237
LIZZIE: My daughter and I would just ride it at night to go watch the Epcot Firework.
00:15:05.237 --> 00:15:06.697
LIZZIE: It's such an amazing ride.
00:15:06.697 --> 00:15:08.617
LIZZIE: I mean, it should be considered a ride.
00:15:08.937 --> 00:15:10.497
LIZZIE: And it's so magical.
00:15:10.497 --> 00:15:11.597
LIZZIE: I just love it.
00:15:11.597 --> 00:15:13.297
LIZZIE: So I think that was part of my thing.
00:15:13.297 --> 00:15:17.017
LIZZIE: I was sad that we weren't staying at a Skyliner resort.
00:15:17.017 --> 00:15:19.137
LIZZIE: And so I was like, well, let's one more night.
00:15:19.137 --> 00:15:21.557
LIZZIE: Like, let's stay at Pop.
00:15:21.557 --> 00:15:22.557
LIZZIE: Yeah.
00:15:22.557 --> 00:15:26.817
VIRGINIA: Well, and it'll be easy to get over there from Tuan.
00:15:26.817 --> 00:15:27.937
LIZZIE: Yes.
00:15:27.937 --> 00:15:41.017
VIRGINIA: The question I have now is because you are doing a split stay between Disney proper resorts and an on Disney property, but not technically a Disney resort.
00:15:41.017 --> 00:15:44.837
VIRGINIA: I'm imagining they're not going to move your luggage for you.
00:15:44.837 --> 00:15:49.637
LIZZIE: Well, and here's the wonderful thing about being not terribly far.
00:15:49.637 --> 00:15:51.557
LIZZIE: We're still pretty far, but we're driving.
00:15:51.557 --> 00:15:53.697
LIZZIE: So I'll just drive us.
00:15:53.697 --> 00:15:54.157
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:15:54.157 --> 00:15:54.477
VIRGINIA: Perfect.
00:15:54.477 --> 00:15:54.937
LIZZIE: Yeah.
00:15:54.937 --> 00:15:55.257
LIZZIE: Yeah.
00:15:55.257 --> 00:15:56.497
VIRGINIA: All right.
00:15:56.497 --> 00:16:00.857
VIRGINIA: So driving, does that mean that you're starting out your drive on the sixth?
00:16:00.857 --> 00:16:01.197
LIZZIE: Yes.
00:16:01.197 --> 00:16:04.377
LIZZIE: I'm a little bit of a crazy lady and I love to drive.
00:16:04.557 --> 00:16:10.657
LIZZIE: So I will probably wake the kids up at four and we'll hop in the car and just drive the whole way down.
00:16:10.657 --> 00:16:13.957
VIRGINIA: What time do you think you'll make it there, leaving that early?
00:16:13.957 --> 00:16:18.437
LIZZIE: I like, let's hope for three.
00:16:18.437 --> 00:16:21.397
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:16:21.757 --> 00:16:25.477
LIZZIE: I keep be like, maybe we can get there by two and I'm like, Lizzie, be realistic.
00:16:25.477 --> 00:16:29.317
LIZZIE: It's going to be three or four.
00:16:29.317 --> 00:16:31.877
VIRGINIA: Do your kids do well in the car for long rides?
00:16:31.877 --> 00:16:32.317
LIZZIE: They do.
00:16:32.577 --> 00:16:33.637
LIZZIE: They're really great in the car.
00:16:34.357 --> 00:16:35.837
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:16:35.837 --> 00:16:36.237
VIRGINIA: All right.
00:16:36.237 --> 00:16:40.837
VIRGINIA: And where is your sister and your mother coming from?
00:16:40.837 --> 00:16:42.197
LIZZIE: They live outside of Atlanta.
00:16:42.197 --> 00:16:44.417
LIZZIE: So there's a much easier drive.
00:16:44.417 --> 00:16:46.537
LIZZIE: I think it's like five and a half.
00:16:46.537 --> 00:16:47.337
LIZZIE: Right.
00:16:47.337 --> 00:16:47.817
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:16:47.817 --> 00:16:48.077
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:16:48.077 --> 00:16:48.697
LIZZIE: So yeah.
00:16:48.697 --> 00:16:49.557
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:16:49.557 --> 00:16:51.197
VIRGINIA: Are they driving down together?
00:16:51.197 --> 00:16:52.297
LIZZIE: Yes, they are.
00:16:52.297 --> 00:16:52.877
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:16:52.877 --> 00:16:54.497
VIRGINIA: And what about the room situation?
00:16:54.497 --> 00:16:57.357
VIRGINIA: So Polynesian, it'll just be the three of you.
00:16:57.357 --> 00:17:01.077
VIRGINIA: But when you get to Swan, are you doing two rooms, three rooms?
00:17:01.077 --> 00:17:03.077
VIRGINIA: Are you trying to get connecting rooms?
00:17:03.777 --> 00:17:04.077
LIZZIE: Okay.
00:17:04.077 --> 00:17:07.397
LIZZIE: So she put in a request for connecting, and we're doing three rooms.
00:17:07.397 --> 00:17:11.237
LIZZIE: So we can each all have our own space, especially for my mom.
00:17:11.237 --> 00:17:13.817
LIZZIE: We are like, we definitely need to give mom her own room.
00:17:13.817 --> 00:17:16.477
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:17:16.477 --> 00:17:18.817
LIZZIE: So yeah, we're going to have three rooms, which will be great.
00:17:18.817 --> 00:17:20.537
LIZZIE: And fingers crossed, they're connected.
00:17:20.537 --> 00:17:23.237
LIZZIE: And my sister, again, travels a lot.
00:17:23.237 --> 00:17:24.957
LIZZIE: Most of the time she gets an upgrade.
00:17:24.957 --> 00:17:28.537
LIZZIE: So I'm also crossing my fingers for that as well.
00:17:28.537 --> 00:17:30.657
VIRGINIA: Today is the 30th that we're speaking on.
00:17:30.677 --> 00:17:36.897
VIRGINIA: And so you have a little less than a week before you head out.
00:17:36.917 --> 00:17:38.617
VIRGINIA: Have you started packing?
00:17:38.617 --> 00:17:40.657
LIZZIE: Oh, yes, I have started.
00:17:42.077 --> 00:17:52.757
LIZZIE: I started gathering the kids' clothes and getting all the fans, the battery, the chargers, the bubble wands.
00:17:52.757 --> 00:17:56.537
LIZZIE: Last year, I deep dived into how to pack for Disney and what you need to have.
00:17:56.537 --> 00:17:58.857
LIZZIE: And now I kind of just have stuff ready.
00:17:59.217 --> 00:18:03.737
LIZZIE: And it helps, honestly, for all of our trips is we have stuff ready to go.
00:18:03.737 --> 00:18:08.177
LIZZIE: So I just pulled out some of the boxes and getting it together.
00:18:08.177 --> 00:18:09.437
LIZZIE: Yeah.
00:18:09.437 --> 00:18:10.757
VIRGINIA: That's fantastic.
00:18:10.757 --> 00:18:15.677
VIRGINIA: Follow your list because I made that mistake in February and managed to forget things even though I have a list.
00:18:15.677 --> 00:18:17.737
LIZZIE: Oh, no.
00:18:17.737 --> 00:18:19.037
LIZZIE: Well, I've been trying to be really good.
00:18:19.037 --> 00:18:32.877
LIZZIE: My whole thing is I'm struggling to figure out, I think, to make it easier on us, you know, with the split stay, there will be a bag for Polynesian, bag for, bags for Swann and bags for Pop.
00:18:32.877 --> 00:18:34.757
LIZZIE: And I'm going to try to keep them mostly separate.
00:18:34.757 --> 00:18:39.477
LIZZIE: So I really am just grabbing a small bag to go into each.
00:18:39.637 --> 00:18:41.137
LIZZIE: Maybe not Swann, but yeah.
00:18:41.137 --> 00:18:42.117
VIRGINIA: That's fantastic.
00:18:42.117 --> 00:18:51.757
VIRGINIA: And because you will have your car, you're not limited on, I mean, you're limited by the size of your car, but you're not limited on like, oh, I'm going to have to pay for all this luggage.
00:18:51.757 --> 00:18:58.197
VIRGINIA: So you could very easily keep the things in one bag that go for every resort, like your toiletries and things like that.
00:18:58.197 --> 00:19:01.177
VIRGINIA: So I'm very envious of you for that.
00:19:01.177 --> 00:19:01.617
LIZZIE: Yes.
00:19:01.617 --> 00:19:09.637
LIZZIE: I have to say that is a plus for driving, you know, like it is like I can be, yeah, we're going to have multiple sets of bags and they'll make it a lot easier.
00:19:10.737 --> 00:19:12.997
VIRGINIA: Are the kids getting really excited at this point?
00:19:12.997 --> 00:19:15.437
VIRGINIA: Or do they know they're going?
00:19:15.437 --> 00:19:19.317
VIRGINIA: Like what's going on with them and their mindset?
00:19:19.317 --> 00:19:20.657
LIZZIE: I can't keep a secret.
00:19:20.657 --> 00:19:21.477
LIZZIE: They know they're going.
00:19:22.957 --> 00:19:27.197
LIZZIE: And my daughter, last time we went, she was two.
00:19:27.197 --> 00:19:33.757
LIZZIE: So she was not old enough or tall enough, let's say, to ride things like Slinky Dog or Millennium Falcon.
00:19:33.757 --> 00:19:36.937
LIZZIE: And she was so bummed that she couldn't go on Slinky Dog.
00:19:36.937 --> 00:19:38.677
LIZZIE: I felt so bad.
00:19:38.677 --> 00:19:41.457
LIZZIE: So she's going to she's so excited.
00:19:41.457 --> 00:19:42.297
LIZZIE: She's tall enough.
00:19:42.297 --> 00:19:48.297
LIZZIE: And every week, at least multiple times, she'll be like, I'm going to ride Slinky Dog.
00:19:48.297 --> 00:19:50.737
LIZZIE: And she says that in a really cute toddler voice.
00:19:50.857 --> 00:19:53.917
LIZZIE: And yeah, so she's psyched.
00:19:53.917 --> 00:19:54.797
LIZZIE: And so is my son.
00:19:54.797 --> 00:19:56.817
LIZZIE: Like he's a big Star Wars kid.
00:19:56.817 --> 00:20:00.377
LIZZIE: So we really love the Hollywood studios.
00:20:00.377 --> 00:20:04.317
LIZZIE: Like that's so far what we're most excited about, I think.
00:20:04.317 --> 00:20:06.217
VIRGINIA: Are your kids thrill seekers?
00:20:08.157 --> 00:20:17.657
LIZZIE: So, yes, I think this is where, you know, I'm struggling to see how big of a thrill seeker we are.
00:20:17.657 --> 00:20:21.697
LIZZIE: And so my son loved Rise of Resistance.
00:20:21.697 --> 00:20:22.937
LIZZIE: He loves Slinky Dog.
00:20:22.937 --> 00:20:25.037
LIZZIE: He loved Thunder.
00:20:25.037 --> 00:20:34.217
LIZZIE: But I don't know, like, is he a big enough thrill seeker to love things like Cosmic Rewind?
00:20:34.217 --> 00:20:37.697
LIZZIE: So I don't know where, you know, the push on that.
00:20:37.797 --> 00:20:38.437
LIZZIE: Do we push them?
00:20:38.437 --> 00:20:39.177
LIZZIE: Do we not?
00:20:39.177 --> 00:20:45.797
LIZZIE: But I think both of them, we have a small, small theme park here called Tweetsie.
00:20:45.797 --> 00:20:47.117
LIZZIE: And they love all the Rides there.
00:20:47.117 --> 00:20:48.237
VIRGINIA: Oh, I've heard of it.
00:20:48.237 --> 00:20:48.837
VIRGINIA: I've heard of it.
00:20:48.837 --> 00:20:49.557
VIRGINIA: I've never been there.
00:20:49.557 --> 00:20:54.937
VIRGINIA: I was going to ask you, because it was just popping into my mind, like a memory awakened itself.
00:20:54.937 --> 00:20:58.137
VIRGINIA: Is Ghost Town still a thing?
00:20:58.137 --> 00:21:00.737
LIZZIE: No, was there a ghost town?
00:21:00.737 --> 00:21:01.417
VIRGINIA: Oh my gosh.
00:21:01.417 --> 00:21:04.757
VIRGINIA: Yeah, it was a theme park in the mountains of North Carolina.
00:21:04.757 --> 00:21:06.157
VIRGINIA: It was called Ghost Town in the Sky.
00:21:08.197 --> 00:21:10.197
VIRGINIA: You rode a chairlift.
00:21:10.197 --> 00:21:13.917
VIRGINIA: I have to think it must have been near one of the ski resorts.
00:21:13.917 --> 00:21:18.897
VIRGINIA: You rode a chairlift up to the top, and there was, I think there were rides.
00:21:18.897 --> 00:21:21.017
VIRGINIA: I remember it was a theme park.
00:21:22.337 --> 00:21:31.477
VIRGINIA: The memory I have most is riding the chairlift, and then I also have the memory of, they had one of those things where you put on old-timey clothes and got your picture taken.
00:21:31.537 --> 00:21:31.877
LIZZIE: Yes.
00:21:31.877 --> 00:21:36.397
VIRGINIA: An old-timey clothes, and I give my sister a hard time about this to this very day.
00:21:36.397 --> 00:21:40.477
VIRGINIA: She was afraid to put on old clothes because she was like four.
00:21:40.477 --> 00:21:40.997
VIRGINIA: I don't know.
00:21:41.117 --> 00:21:48.797
VIRGINIA: There was something about the old-timey clothes that she was just afraid, and so she did it, but in the picture, she was in tears.
00:21:50.597 --> 00:21:52.817
LIZZIE: Let's be honest, those clothes are a little creepy, right?
00:21:52.817 --> 00:21:55.677
LIZZIE: They've been worn a thousand times.
00:21:55.677 --> 00:21:57.377
LIZZIE: They're old and a little creepy.
00:21:59.477 --> 00:22:03.457
LIZZIE: There is something that could have been Ghost Town.
00:22:03.457 --> 00:22:05.837
LIZZIE: It's actually a Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
00:22:05.837 --> 00:22:06.697
LIZZIE: Help me.
00:22:06.697 --> 00:22:07.677
VIRGINIA: Wizard of Oz.
00:22:07.677 --> 00:22:09.977
VIRGINIA: The Wizard of Oz thing, yes.
00:22:09.977 --> 00:22:15.777
LIZZIE: I wonder if they used to turn that into a Halloween one because you ride a chair lift up and stuff.
00:22:16.077 --> 00:22:17.637
VIRGINIA: Probably.
00:22:17.637 --> 00:22:18.757
VIRGINIA: I just Googled it.
00:22:18.757 --> 00:22:23.237
VIRGINIA: I'm sure listeners are very interested in this, but you and I are interested, so we're going to go for it.
00:22:23.237 --> 00:22:28.477
VIRGINIA: It was called Ghost Town in the Sky, and they had a little Ghost Town Village.
00:22:28.477 --> 00:22:33.877
VIRGINIA: It says that it was, so it was, so it no longer exists.
00:22:33.877 --> 00:22:41.177
VIRGINIA: It closed in 2002, and it was in, where was it?
00:22:41.177 --> 00:22:41.897
VIRGINIA: Where was it?
00:22:41.897 --> 00:22:42.737
VIRGINIA: Drum roll, please.
00:22:42.737 --> 00:22:43.757
VIRGINIA: Maggie Valley.
00:22:43.757 --> 00:22:44.137
LIZZIE: Oh, okay.
00:22:44.137 --> 00:22:44.657
LIZZIE: Not far.
00:22:44.657 --> 00:22:45.057
LIZZIE: Yeah.
00:22:45.057 --> 00:22:45.977
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:22:45.977 --> 00:22:47.057
LIZZIE: Man, I wish I had gone.
00:22:47.057 --> 00:22:49.357
LIZZIE: That sounds fun.
00:22:49.357 --> 00:22:50.737
VIRGINIA: Yeah, and now I'm looking to see.
00:22:50.737 --> 00:22:52.977
VIRGINIA: Yes, it did have a roller coaster, like on the side of the mountain.
00:22:53.457 --> 00:22:57.477
VIRGINIA: Now, at the time that I went, I never ever would have gotten on this thing.
00:22:57.477 --> 00:23:01.617
VIRGINIA: It had a loop, and I was not the thrill seeker I am today.
00:23:01.617 --> 00:23:11.177
VIRGINIA: But it almost looked like, not almost, it looks nearly exactly like frontier land, but just more.
00:23:11.177 --> 00:23:11.457
LIZZIE: Wow.
00:23:11.457 --> 00:23:17.277
VIRGINIA: There's more buildings, little dirt road, and they would have people riding horses.
00:23:17.277 --> 00:23:21.137
VIRGINIA: It was like you stepped into the old west, I guess, but in the mountains.
00:23:22.497 --> 00:23:23.397
LIZZIE: That's cool.
00:23:23.397 --> 00:23:24.797
VIRGINIA: Yeah, it was really cool.
00:23:24.797 --> 00:23:34.497
VIRGINIA: But the Wizard of Oz thing that you're talking about, I've never been there, but every time I see it, I'm just like, that wasn't a thing when I lived there, I'd love to go see it.
00:23:35.097 --> 00:23:46.477
VIRGINIA: For listeners, there's a place in the mountains where you can go and they've turned it into Oz, and you can literally walk down a yellow brick road, and it looks really cool.
00:23:46.477 --> 00:23:48.537
VIRGINIA: I will put a link to that in the show notes.
00:23:48.537 --> 00:23:49.297
LIZZIE: It's interesting.
00:23:49.957 --> 00:23:52.077
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:23:52.257 --> 00:23:54.657
VIRGINIA: I wonder how much is there to it?
00:23:54.657 --> 00:23:56.877
VIRGINIA: What is there to do besides walk down a brick road?
00:23:56.877 --> 00:23:57.237
VIRGINIA: I don't know.
00:23:57.237 --> 00:24:03.217
LIZZIE: I'm sure there's characters and stuff, and there's the house, and it used to be, I think, a much bigger deal.
00:24:03.217 --> 00:24:06.077
LIZZIE: Now, they're essentially only open it once a year.
00:24:06.077 --> 00:24:09.737
LIZZIE: It's essentially an abandoned theme park.
00:24:09.737 --> 00:24:12.357
LIZZIE: They open up to the public during the fall.
00:24:12.357 --> 00:24:13.037
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:24:13.057 --> 00:24:13.237
LIZZIE: Yes.
00:24:13.237 --> 00:24:14.777
VIRGINIA: It's a seasonal thing, I guess.
00:24:17.877 --> 00:24:18.657
VIRGINIA: All right.
00:24:18.657 --> 00:24:21.417
VIRGINIA: Well, let's get into all of the details of this.
00:24:21.417 --> 00:24:26.477
VIRGINIA: So, driving on the 6th, arriving at the Polynesian and having resort time.
00:24:26.477 --> 00:24:31.557
VIRGINIA: And then on the 7th, when you check into the swan, is that going to be a park day?
00:24:31.557 --> 00:24:36.437
LIZZIE: No, we're going to keep enjoying the Polynesian as long as we can.
00:24:36.437 --> 00:24:44.757
LIZZIE: We're going to check out Walulu, hopefully, fingers crossed I can get in to the new restaurant for lunch and just enjoy that.
00:24:44.757 --> 00:24:47.017
VIRGINIA: I don't think you're going to have a problem getting in to Walulu.
00:24:47.017 --> 00:24:53.097
VIRGINIA: When we walked past it and ended up going in February, it was a spontaneous, oh, let's go in.
00:24:53.097 --> 00:24:55.757
VIRGINIA: You could see they had plenty of seats available.
00:24:55.757 --> 00:24:59.277
VIRGINIA: I'm not sure that people are making reservations for it.
00:24:59.277 --> 00:25:02.897
VIRGINIA: I think it's, I don't know if you can make reservations for it.
00:25:02.897 --> 00:25:04.037
LIZZIE: I don't think you can.
00:25:04.037 --> 00:25:04.837
LIZZIE: Yeah, I don't think you can.
00:25:04.877 --> 00:25:06.877
LIZZIE: It's a walk-up, which is, I think, nice.
00:25:06.877 --> 00:25:10.537
LIZZIE: Then it doesn't get all, but yeah, fingers crossed with spring break.
00:25:10.537 --> 00:25:12.037
LIZZIE: I don't know.
00:25:12.037 --> 00:25:14.197
VIRGINIA: Well, everyone's spring break is different.
00:25:14.197 --> 00:25:25.957
VIRGINIA: I mean, yours is the 4th through the 11th, like all of the northern, well, I shouldn't say all of the northern, but the New York City, New Jersey area, most of our spring breaks are the following week.
00:25:25.957 --> 00:25:26.917
LIZZIE: Okay.
00:25:26.917 --> 00:25:27.997
VIRGINIA: So.
00:25:27.997 --> 00:25:28.997
LIZZIE: Fingers crossed.
00:25:28.997 --> 00:25:31.577
VIRGINIA: Yeah, I will cross my fingers for you.
00:25:31.577 --> 00:25:35.657
VIRGINIA: You know what, I never asked you what kind of tickets all of you have.
00:25:35.657 --> 00:25:36.197
LIZZIE: Okay.
00:25:36.197 --> 00:25:39.037
LIZZIE: So our ticket situation is interesting.
00:25:39.037 --> 00:25:47.977
LIZZIE: My mom and my three, all of us, we are doing a three-day ticket, like just a normal three-day.
00:25:47.977 --> 00:25:53.777
LIZZIE: My sister's doing a one-day ticket because they're just going with us to Hollywood Studios.
00:25:53.777 --> 00:25:53.917
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:25:53.917 --> 00:25:57.517
LIZZIE: And they're going to do, I think, a water park.
00:25:57.557 --> 00:26:00.817
LIZZIE: And they're doing, they're into Harry Potter.
00:26:00.817 --> 00:26:03.837
LIZZIE: So they're going to go do Universal one day.
00:26:03.837 --> 00:26:04.697
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:26:04.697 --> 00:26:06.817
VIRGINIA: They're going to do the bigger kid things.
00:26:06.817 --> 00:26:07.637
LIZZIE: Yeah, exactly.
00:26:07.637 --> 00:26:09.437
VIRGINIA: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:26:09.437 --> 00:26:09.997
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:26:09.997 --> 00:26:12.717
VIRGINIA: But your mom is coming with you.
00:26:12.717 --> 00:26:13.997
LIZZIE: As a helping hand.
00:26:14.017 --> 00:26:16.717
VIRGINIA: As a helping hand, yes.
00:26:16.717 --> 00:26:17.237
VIRGINIA: All right.
00:26:17.237 --> 00:26:22.457
VIRGINIA: So once you get to the Swan, what time are you anticipating that they will be arriving?
00:26:22.457 --> 00:26:24.117
LIZZIE: I think they're thinking three-ish.
00:26:24.497 --> 00:26:25.717
VIRGINIA: And any plans for that day?
00:26:25.717 --> 00:26:27.897
VIRGINIA: Any dining plans or anything?
00:26:27.897 --> 00:26:31.137
LIZZIE: Well, we're going to go to Chef Arts Homecoming.
00:26:31.137 --> 00:26:34.417
LIZZIE: We have reservations at six and I'm very excited.
00:26:34.417 --> 00:26:37.077
LIZZIE: And I'm hoping to maybe do the Lego.
00:26:37.077 --> 00:26:38.277
LIZZIE: I actually have to sign up for that.
00:26:38.277 --> 00:26:39.297
LIZZIE: I tried doing it last night.
00:26:39.297 --> 00:26:40.897
LIZZIE: I need to try again.
00:26:40.897 --> 00:26:44.097
VIRGINIA: Doing the build of the mini-figure.
00:26:44.097 --> 00:26:45.057
VIRGINIA: You should build one too.
00:26:45.057 --> 00:26:47.457
VIRGINIA: If you make an appointment for them, build one too.
00:26:47.597 --> 00:26:52.297
VIRGINIA: And then you can have your little mini-figure family to put on your desk at work or whatever.
00:26:52.837 --> 00:26:54.017
LIZZIE: Well, and that's what we were hoping.
00:26:54.017 --> 00:26:55.197
LIZZIE: We would all build one.
00:26:55.397 --> 00:26:57.437
LIZZIE: And this is a question.
00:26:57.437 --> 00:27:03.357
LIZZIE: It sounds like you just have to get one appointment and they'll accommodate you instead of getting like seven appointments.
00:27:03.357 --> 00:27:04.177
LIZZIE: Okay.
00:27:04.177 --> 00:27:04.597
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:27:04.597 --> 00:27:05.657
VIRGINIA: That's my recollection.
00:27:05.657 --> 00:27:15.637
VIRGINIA: It has been probably four years maybe at this point, but my recollection is I made one appointment and you just say how many people will be with you.
00:27:15.637 --> 00:27:16.337
LIZZIE: Okay.
00:27:16.337 --> 00:27:16.717
LIZZIE: That's great.
00:27:16.717 --> 00:27:16.817
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:27:17.477 --> 00:27:18.237
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:27:18.237 --> 00:27:24.877
VIRGINIA: And there's a lot of digging involved because you literally it's like giant containers full of accessories.
00:27:24.877 --> 00:27:33.097
VIRGINIA: And so you're just sitting there looking and then part of it is time spent at a computer deciding what you would like to maybe be printed on the clothing.
00:27:33.097 --> 00:27:40.077
VIRGINIA: Like you can put something on the shirt, like an icon or you can put words or things like that.
00:27:40.077 --> 00:27:42.557
LIZZIE: How much time would you allot for that?
00:27:44.017 --> 00:27:46.217
VIRGINIA: I mean, how picky are your kids?
00:27:46.297 --> 00:27:48.157
VIRGINIA: Are they going to want to get it perfect?
00:27:48.157 --> 00:27:50.917
VIRGINIA: Or are they just going to get excited and be like, this is what I'm getting?
00:27:50.917 --> 00:27:51.717
LIZZIE: Excited.
00:27:51.717 --> 00:27:54.997
VIRGINIA: I think you could probably get it done in like 10, 15 minutes.
00:27:54.997 --> 00:27:55.537
VIRGINIA: Oh, okay.
00:27:55.537 --> 00:27:58.137
LIZZIE: Okay, so giving a 30 minute window is probably okay.
00:27:58.137 --> 00:27:58.617
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:27:58.617 --> 00:27:58.857
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:27:58.857 --> 00:28:09.197
VIRGINIA: Yeah, I think we took, as a family of three with two adults and one kid, I think we took about 30 because we were all like, I want to make sure I have the perfect accessory.
00:28:09.197 --> 00:28:10.037
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:28:10.037 --> 00:28:13.137
VIRGINIA: So yeah, that should be plenty.
00:28:13.657 --> 00:28:16.417
VIRGINIA: Have you been to Homecoming before?
00:28:16.417 --> 00:28:18.317
LIZZIE: No, I'm excited.
00:28:19.537 --> 00:28:25.677
LIZZIE: Was it you maybe that was saying that the deviled eggs are pretty amazing?
00:28:25.677 --> 00:28:27.917
VIRGINIA: The deviled eggs are very good there.
00:28:27.917 --> 00:28:31.657
VIRGINIA: The deviled eggs are also very good at Summer House on the Lake, my new favorite.
00:28:31.657 --> 00:28:34.717
VIRGINIA: But the deviled eggs at Homecoming is really good.
00:28:34.717 --> 00:28:37.617
VIRGINIA: They're also known for their chicken.
00:28:37.617 --> 00:28:38.437
VIRGINIA: It's really good.
00:28:38.557 --> 00:28:39.097
VIRGINIA: It's really good.
00:28:39.097 --> 00:28:45.297
VIRGINIA: They have these fried chicken on biscuits that are really good, too.
00:28:45.297 --> 00:28:48.617
VIRGINIA: So, yeah, definitely get the deviled eggs, though.
00:28:48.617 --> 00:28:49.337
LIZZIE: That's what I hear.
00:28:49.337 --> 00:28:51.137
LIZZIE: Yeah, I hear they're good.
00:28:51.137 --> 00:28:53.737
LIZZIE: And again, maybe we'll check out Summer House on the Lake.
00:28:53.737 --> 00:28:56.717
VIRGINIA: At the very least, swing by and grab some cookies.
00:28:56.717 --> 00:28:57.457
LIZZIE: Okay, we'll do.
00:28:57.457 --> 00:29:00.057
VIRGINIA: Because there's not much of a line at all.
00:29:00.057 --> 00:29:04.057
VIRGINIA: It's nothing like Gideon's, but the cookies are so good.
00:29:04.137 --> 00:29:10.577
VIRGINIA: Oh my gosh, they are perfect with like a little bit of crisp on the outside, but chewy on the inside.
00:29:10.577 --> 00:29:12.577
VIRGINIA: And they have so many good flavors.
00:29:12.577 --> 00:29:13.677
LIZZIE: You really can't go wrong.
00:29:13.677 --> 00:29:14.357
LIZZIE: Favorite kind.
00:29:14.357 --> 00:29:15.077
LIZZIE: You'll have to try it out.
00:29:15.077 --> 00:29:15.657
VIRGINIA: Yes.
00:29:15.877 --> 00:29:18.037
LIZZIE: Oh, we also want to try out salt and straw.
00:29:18.037 --> 00:29:19.177
LIZZIE: That's also on our list.
00:29:19.177 --> 00:29:23.037
VIRGINIA: That's almost right across from Summer House on the Lake.
00:29:23.037 --> 00:29:29.757
VIRGINIA: So go over, grab cookies to bring back to the room and then go get your ice cream for now.
00:29:29.757 --> 00:29:30.397
LIZZIE: Love it.
00:29:30.397 --> 00:29:30.717
LIZZIE: Love it.
00:29:30.717 --> 00:29:31.237
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:29:31.237 --> 00:29:31.697
VIRGINIA: It's a plan.
00:29:33.417 --> 00:29:33.877
VIRGINIA: All right.
00:29:33.877 --> 00:29:38.457
VIRGINIA: So Tuesday, April the 8th, what's the plan that day?
00:29:38.457 --> 00:29:42.457
LIZZIE: So Tuesday, we are going to Hollywood Studios as a full group.
00:29:42.457 --> 00:29:49.837
LIZZIE: And we figured we'd do it early, the full group, why everybody still has energy and have some sleep behind them.
00:29:49.837 --> 00:29:51.097
VIRGINIA: Are you doing multi-pass?
00:29:51.097 --> 00:29:52.117
LIZZIE: We are.
00:29:52.177 --> 00:29:53.037
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:29:53.037 --> 00:29:59.917
LIZZIE: We can't get it until tomorrow, but we are doing multi-pass and I'm also doing standby skipper.
00:29:59.917 --> 00:30:00.737
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:30:00.737 --> 00:30:02.437
VIRGINIA: Did you already pay for standby skipper?
00:30:02.437 --> 00:30:03.317
LIZZIE: Not yet.
00:30:03.317 --> 00:30:04.677
VIRGINIA: I don't think you need it.
00:30:04.677 --> 00:30:05.737
LIZZIE: Really?
00:30:05.737 --> 00:30:06.717
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:30:06.717 --> 00:30:08.597
VIRGINIA: I don't, I really don't think you do.
00:30:08.597 --> 00:30:12.437
VIRGINIA: Unless you think you're going to be somebody who forgets to make your next reservation.
00:30:12.437 --> 00:30:20.437
VIRGINIA: But now that you can't really make another reservation until you've had, until you've used one, like you're using one and getting another one.
00:30:21.297 --> 00:30:27.197
VIRGINIA: It's very easy to remember, like I just swiped in, now I can make, like while you're in line, make the next one.
00:30:27.197 --> 00:30:33.157
VIRGINIA: Whereas before, with the two-hour rule, it was more of a necessity.
00:30:33.157 --> 00:30:37.117
VIRGINIA: Well, not a necessity, standby skipper is just an add-on.
00:30:38.617 --> 00:30:41.297
VIRGINIA: But I definitely utilized it then.
00:30:41.297 --> 00:30:45.317
VIRGINIA: I mean, if you're going to use it, I would be interested to hear how it goes for you.
00:30:45.317 --> 00:30:53.257
VIRGINIA: But before you purchase it, you might want to just do a little googling around as to people who have used both at the same time and see what they think.
00:30:53.257 --> 00:30:56.217
VIRGINIA: Because we thought about doing it for My Girl's Trip in January.
00:30:56.217 --> 00:30:58.077
VIRGINIA: And then we were just like, I don't think we need this.
00:30:58.077 --> 00:31:03.397
VIRGINIA: And we truly didn't because every time you swiped in, it was just like, all right, what are we reserving next?
00:31:03.397 --> 00:31:04.097
LIZZIE: Oh, okay.
00:31:04.097 --> 00:31:05.857
LIZZIE: Okay, that's good to hear.
00:31:06.877 --> 00:31:15.697
VIRGINIA: Do you as somebody staying at The Swan, are you able to make your multi-pass reservations a week out like the others?
00:31:15.737 --> 00:31:17.197
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:31:17.197 --> 00:31:19.397
LIZZIE: I think they consider it pretty much a deluxe.
00:31:19.397 --> 00:31:26.357
LIZZIE: The only thing we can't get at The Swan and Dolphin is your first day check-in.
00:31:26.357 --> 00:31:28.037
LIZZIE: We can't do the water parks.
00:31:28.037 --> 00:31:31.337
LIZZIE: Hence, later on, you'll find that's why we're going to Pop Century.
00:31:32.237 --> 00:31:33.077
VIRGINIA: Got it.
00:31:33.077 --> 00:31:33.937
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:31:33.937 --> 00:31:38.557
VIRGINIA: What are the three multi-pass options that you're going to be aiming for?
00:31:38.557 --> 00:31:42.417
VIRGINIA: And will you do your options for all of you to do together?
00:31:42.777 --> 00:31:47.997
VIRGINIA: Or are you splitting up anything because of the kids' ages and interests?
00:31:47.997 --> 00:31:54.237
LIZZIE: Well, I think the first three, we're going to try to get everything that is height appropriate for everybody.
00:31:54.237 --> 00:31:56.617
LIZZIE: So Slinky Dog is what I'm...
00:31:56.617 --> 00:31:57.657
LIZZIE: That's the ultimate.
00:31:57.657 --> 00:32:00.617
LIZZIE: And I think that's probably a lot of people's ultimate.
00:32:00.617 --> 00:32:07.937
LIZZIE: So we'll try to get Slinky Dog and probably Millennium Falcon or Toy Story Mania between those two.
00:32:08.577 --> 00:32:12.737
LIZZIE: And then probably the Muppets as a burner.
00:32:12.737 --> 00:32:14.957
LIZZIE: Also, I want to do the Muppets in the morning.
00:32:14.957 --> 00:32:18.217
LIZZIE: So try to get Muppets first thing in the morning.
00:32:18.217 --> 00:32:21.017
VIRGINIA: When does the Muppets close?
00:32:21.017 --> 00:32:22.517
LIZZIE: I think it's still open, right?
00:32:22.517 --> 00:32:23.557
VIRGINIA: Let me Google.
00:32:23.557 --> 00:32:25.257
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:32:25.257 --> 00:32:29.317
VIRGINIA: Muppet 3D closing date.
00:32:29.317 --> 00:32:31.197
VIRGINIA: Let's see.
00:32:31.197 --> 00:32:33.177
VIRGINIA: Oh, not until June 7th.
00:32:33.257 --> 00:32:33.597
LIZZIE: Oh, okay.
00:32:33.597 --> 00:32:36.137
VIRGINIA: So you get it in one last time.
00:32:36.137 --> 00:32:39.037
LIZZIE: I think that will be my mom will probably love the Muppets.
00:32:39.037 --> 00:32:43.237
LIZZIE: I mean, and so will my sister and I and probably my two littles.
00:32:43.237 --> 00:32:49.157
LIZZIE: So I think that will be a good first morning ride or show.
00:32:49.157 --> 00:32:55.357
LIZZIE: And then we will get, if we can, the Rise individual lightning lane.
00:32:55.357 --> 00:32:56.117
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:32:56.117 --> 00:32:57.017
VIRGINIA: All right.
00:32:57.017 --> 00:33:00.957
VIRGINIA: Is your daughter going to be tall enough to do that?
00:33:00.957 --> 00:33:02.557
LIZZIE: So she probably won't.
00:33:02.697 --> 00:33:03.917
LIZZIE: She's like right at the cusp.
00:33:03.917 --> 00:33:06.377
LIZZIE: But I don't think they're going to let her in.
00:33:06.377 --> 00:33:10.497
LIZZIE: But I hear that you can just buy them all.
00:33:10.497 --> 00:33:12.397
LIZZIE: And then I don't know how we'll do that.
00:33:12.397 --> 00:33:16.557
LIZZIE: I've never, I guess you can select who you want them for.
00:33:16.557 --> 00:33:19.557
VIRGINIA: Yes, you can select who you want them for.
00:33:19.557 --> 00:33:25.257
VIRGINIA: And if you buy it for her and she's not tall enough, I'm 100% certain they will give you a refund.
00:33:25.257 --> 00:33:27.957
VIRGINIA: But you could do the rider switch.
00:33:27.957 --> 00:33:32.597
VIRGINIA: I always want to call it child swap, which makes it sound like you're trading your child out for someone else.
00:33:32.597 --> 00:33:38.297
VIRGINIA: You can do rider swap and that's pretty easy to do, but then you wouldn't be able to all ride together, obviously.
00:33:38.297 --> 00:33:41.537
VIRGINIA: But then I think one person would get to ride a second time.
00:33:41.537 --> 00:33:42.417
LIZZIE: OK.
00:33:42.417 --> 00:33:46.817
LIZZIE: Yeah, we'll do rider swap and that will be fine probably.
00:33:46.817 --> 00:33:47.737
LIZZIE: Fingers crossed.
00:33:47.737 --> 00:33:50.697
LIZZIE: I get her in high enough shoes that she can pass.
00:33:51.457 --> 00:33:56.457
VIRGINIA: I mean, that one, the only thing is the tiny drop.
00:33:57.037 --> 00:33:57.897
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:33:57.897 --> 00:34:03.877
VIRGINIA: So, there's not, I don't know what the height requirement would be for it, but you're right.
00:34:04.097 --> 00:34:04.937
VIRGINIA: It's a little scary.
00:34:04.937 --> 00:34:14.297
VIRGINIA: I think the thing I'd be most concerned about, even more than a drop for a kid that young, would be how they would feel with people being mean to their group.
00:34:14.297 --> 00:34:15.117
LIZZIE: Yes.
00:34:15.117 --> 00:34:16.857
LIZZIE: And I mean, it is a little scary.
00:34:16.857 --> 00:34:19.217
LIZZIE: So she might not go on that, but we'll find out.
00:34:19.217 --> 00:34:20.517
LIZZIE: We'll kind of test the waters.
00:34:21.057 --> 00:34:21.697
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:34:21.697 --> 00:34:41.097
VIRGINIA: And Tip, if you do it with the individual lightning lane and the kids love it and you want to do it again, as long as you know you can't ride separately, like the cousins, I guess, that might be old enough to ride by themselves, they could do individual lightning lane and go back and do it a second time.
00:34:41.097 --> 00:34:42.317
LIZZIE: Oh, that's awesome.
00:34:42.317 --> 00:34:42.777
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:34:42.777 --> 00:34:46.277
VIRGINIA: I mean, if you do a rider swap, one person will get to ride it a second time anyway.
00:34:48.837 --> 00:34:55.697
VIRGINIA: But the individual lightning lane, when I did it, we basically walked on.
00:34:55.697 --> 00:35:07.877
VIRGINIA: You just have to be willing to understand that you're not going to be able to ride with your party, which means a kid who's not old enough to ride by themselves really can't do it, because they have to be with somebody that is in their group.
00:35:07.877 --> 00:35:09.557
VIRGINIA: But you walk in and you skip...
00:35:09.557 --> 00:35:10.997
VIRGINIA: Have you ridden it before?
00:35:10.997 --> 00:35:11.197
LIZZIE: Yes.
00:35:11.737 --> 00:35:12.237
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:35:12.237 --> 00:35:21.177
VIRGINIA: You walk in and you basically are joined up with the people as they're going through the stormtrooper room.
00:35:21.177 --> 00:35:21.577
LIZZIE: Okay.
00:35:21.577 --> 00:35:22.077
LIZZIE: Yes.
00:35:22.077 --> 00:35:26.477
VIRGINIA: So you wait at the door and when they're ready for you, they walk you...
00:35:26.477 --> 00:35:29.977
VIRGINIA: You know how when you go outside to get on the ship?
00:35:29.977 --> 00:35:35.317
VIRGINIA: They walk you across that and then you go down a back hallway and you're like, whoa, where are we?
00:35:35.317 --> 00:35:38.997
VIRGINIA: Then they open a door and there's the stormtroopers, and then you join from there.
00:35:39.437 --> 00:35:52.037
VIRGINIA: And then on the other side, the two lines now, one side is for the people who had the lightning lanes and they lead the individual, the single writers down a specific side of it.
00:35:52.037 --> 00:35:57.377
VIRGINIA: So that when you get to the front of that, they're just like, they know that these people in this line are the single writers.
00:35:57.377 --> 00:35:59.637
VIRGINIA: So that when they need a single writer, they pull you out.
00:35:59.697 --> 00:36:04.077
VIRGINIA: It's super fast, but I would not recommend it to anybody who has not written it before.
00:36:04.077 --> 00:36:07.697
VIRGINIA: It should only be a second, right, and beyond because you do miss part of the magic.
00:36:07.697 --> 00:36:08.537
LIZZIE: Oh, okay.
00:36:08.537 --> 00:36:09.717
LIZZIE: Okay, that's good to know.
00:36:09.717 --> 00:36:10.437
LIZZIE: Thank you.
00:36:10.437 --> 00:36:12.177
LIZZIE: I did not know that.
00:36:12.177 --> 00:36:13.477
VIRGINIA: Anything else for this day?
00:36:13.477 --> 00:36:16.437
VIRGINIA: Any dining reservations or anything?
00:36:16.437 --> 00:36:20.997
LIZZIE: We are having lunch at Sci-Fi Dining, which we have done before.
00:36:20.997 --> 00:36:26.837
LIZZIE: I just love it because it's quiet, it's cool, and my kids can relax for a second.
00:36:27.137 --> 00:36:29.017
LIZZIE: They love the old-timey stuff.
00:36:29.017 --> 00:36:37.357
LIZZIE: My son is really into sci-fi, his dad is as well, so it is a great thing for us.
00:36:37.357 --> 00:36:49.217
LIZZIE: We get a little time to relax, and then we're hoping for Ogas at 6, and Woody's Roundup Rodeo, which we may switch.
00:36:49.217 --> 00:36:51.537
LIZZIE: We are not sure yet.
00:36:51.537 --> 00:36:59.157
LIZZIE: We're debating whether we do 50s or even Brown Derby for that.
00:36:59.157 --> 00:37:07.157
LIZZIE: Just because my nephew said he just did Roundup Rodeo, so we're maybe thinking about switching, but that's where we have right now.
00:37:07.157 --> 00:37:09.917
VIRGINIA: Are all the kids into barbecue?
00:37:09.917 --> 00:37:14.717
LIZZIE: My littles could give, they're not huge barbecue people.
00:37:16.197 --> 00:37:18.237
VIRGINIA: Okay, so TBD on that.
00:37:18.237 --> 00:37:22.057
VIRGINIA: We'll see what happens with that reservation.
00:37:23.537 --> 00:37:23.937
VIRGINIA: Let's see.
00:37:24.137 --> 00:37:26.757
VIRGINIA: All right, so anything else that day, are we?
00:37:26.757 --> 00:37:28.317
LIZZIE: No, I think that's it.
00:37:28.317 --> 00:37:36.457
LIZZIE: Yeah, just trying to do all Mickey Minis and Indiana Jones and all the fun Hollywood studio stuff.
00:37:36.457 --> 00:37:38.697
VIRGINIA: Do you think you're going to rope drop?
00:37:38.697 --> 00:37:42.557
LIZZIE: You know, it depends on what we get for our multi-passes.
00:37:42.557 --> 00:37:46.137
LIZZIE: If we get some good rides, I'm not going to put that pressure on us.
00:37:46.137 --> 00:37:56.497
LIZZIE: I'm really trying to take a step back and not, you know, my type A personality is like, let's do it all, let's do it all.
00:37:56.497 --> 00:37:59.317
LIZZIE: And I'm like, don't do this to that group of seven.
00:37:59.317 --> 00:38:04.897
LIZZIE: Like this is going to be an interesting, they're all kind of relying on me as the planner.
00:38:04.897 --> 00:38:08.137
LIZZIE: And I'm trying not, I don't want to push people too hard.
00:38:08.137 --> 00:38:09.217
LIZZIE: So we'll see.
00:38:09.217 --> 00:38:11.537
LIZZIE: I mean, if we're all up and ready to go, let's do it.
00:38:11.537 --> 00:38:18.777
LIZZIE: But if it's, I don't, if people need to sleep in and we need to get a little more time in the room, I'm fine with that too.
00:38:19.537 --> 00:38:26.097
VIRGINIA: Well, if you make Muppets your first multi-pass of the day, you have the whole hour to get there and to use it.
00:38:26.097 --> 00:38:34.997
VIRGINIA: And because it's Muppets, if you realize that you're not up early enough, it would be very easy to move that one.
00:38:34.997 --> 00:38:35.937
LIZZIE: Oh, that's good.
00:38:35.937 --> 00:38:40.317
VIRGINIA: Oh yeah, because yeah, it's not as a, it's not highly in demand.
00:38:40.317 --> 00:38:40.637
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:38:40.637 --> 00:38:42.477
VIRGINIA: So I would make it for first thing.
00:38:42.477 --> 00:38:50.237
VIRGINIA: That way, if you happen to get there early, you can tap in and then be eligible to make your next one.
00:38:50.237 --> 00:38:56.617
VIRGINIA: And if you need to push it back a little bit, you can easily do that from the comfort of your room.
00:38:56.617 --> 00:38:57.377
LIZZIE: I like this.
00:38:57.377 --> 00:38:59.017
LIZZIE: Thank you so much, Virginia.
00:38:59.057 --> 00:39:00.317
LIZZIE: You're welcome.
00:39:00.317 --> 00:39:04.057
VIRGINIA: Are you all going to walk over to Hollywood Studios from Swan?
00:39:04.057 --> 00:39:05.857
VIRGINIA: Because that's a super easy walk.
00:39:05.857 --> 00:39:06.977
LIZZIE: I would like to.
00:39:06.977 --> 00:39:09.457
LIZZIE: So this is another thing that's kind of popped up.
00:39:09.457 --> 00:39:13.837
LIZZIE: But my mom is in her early 70s, and she does have some arthritis issues.
00:39:13.877 --> 00:39:17.797
LIZZIE: So I kept saying, do you want us to get you a little rascal?
00:39:17.797 --> 00:39:20.017
LIZZIE: And she's like, no, no.
00:39:20.017 --> 00:39:25.137
LIZZIE: And I'm like, and she's like, let's see how the first day goes.
00:39:25.137 --> 00:39:27.437
LIZZIE: And I would like to walk.
00:39:27.437 --> 00:39:31.557
LIZZIE: I think it's the quickest and easiest way to get there for me.
00:39:31.557 --> 00:39:33.717
LIZZIE: With the stroller, I will have a double stroller.
00:39:34.597 --> 00:39:36.817
LIZZIE: It's more like, it's not the double side by side.
00:39:36.817 --> 00:39:40.337
LIZZIE: It's the, would you call that a tandem stroller?
00:39:40.337 --> 00:39:41.037
VIRGINIA: Yes, I think so.
00:39:41.537 --> 00:39:42.957
LIZZIE: Okay.
00:39:42.957 --> 00:39:43.957
LIZZIE: So I'll have a stroller.
00:39:43.957 --> 00:39:47.457
LIZZIE: It's for me, getting on a bus is more of a hassle.
00:39:47.457 --> 00:39:48.157
VIRGINIA: Right.
00:39:48.337 --> 00:39:53.477
VIRGINIA: It's an easy walk and nobody says you have to speed walk it.
00:39:53.477 --> 00:39:53.997
VIRGINIA: That's true.
00:39:53.997 --> 00:39:55.617
VIRGINIA: You can leisurely walk it.
00:39:55.617 --> 00:39:56.737
VIRGINIA: It's along the water.
00:39:56.737 --> 00:39:57.337
VIRGINIA: It's nice.
00:39:57.337 --> 00:40:04.597
VIRGINIA: It's a good, nice way to start your day, especially have a cup of coffee with you and stroll over to Hollywood Studios.
00:40:04.597 --> 00:40:14.397
VIRGINIA: But the good news is that should she at any point need assistance during the day, you can just walk to the front of the park and get her a wheelchair or scooter there.
00:40:14.397 --> 00:40:16.557
VIRGINIA: I think you can rent directly from the park.
00:40:16.557 --> 00:40:16.817
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:40:17.257 --> 00:40:20.257
VIRGINIA: You can for sure wheelchairs, but I think scooters too.
00:40:20.257 --> 00:40:20.677
LIZZIE: Okay.
00:40:20.677 --> 00:40:26.317
LIZZIE: That's good to know because I wasn't sure if I just needed to rent it from like Scooter Bug or something like that or if you could do that.
00:40:26.317 --> 00:40:27.337
LIZZIE: So that's great.
00:40:27.337 --> 00:40:27.537
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:40:27.537 --> 00:40:33.977
VIRGINIA: I mean, you can rent from Scooter Bug, but usually when people do that, they are doing it for the whole week.
00:40:33.977 --> 00:40:42.397
VIRGINIA: So I suppose if you realized you needed one, you could get one like as a last minute, let's do it for the rest of the time.
00:40:42.397 --> 00:40:52.057
VIRGINIA: But yeah, it's right when you walk into Hollywood Studios, you know how when you come through the turnstile, there's that kiosk in the center that sells some pins and stuff.
00:40:52.057 --> 00:40:53.097
VIRGINIA: It's just to the right of that.
00:40:53.097 --> 00:40:55.337
VIRGINIA: It's the thing that looks like a gas station.
00:40:55.337 --> 00:40:55.937
LIZZIE: Perfect.
00:40:55.937 --> 00:40:56.537
LIZZIE: Awesome.
00:40:56.537 --> 00:40:58.057
LIZZIE: Thank you for that.
00:40:59.097 --> 00:40:59.577
VIRGINIA: All right.
00:40:59.577 --> 00:41:02.197
VIRGINIA: Wednesday, April 9th.
00:41:02.197 --> 00:41:03.577
VIRGINIA: What's the plan there?
00:41:03.577 --> 00:41:06.077
LIZZIE: So we are going to go to Epcot that day.
00:41:07.997 --> 00:41:17.677
LIZZIE: And the boys, my sister Katie and the boys are either going to do a water park, which would be Blizzard Beach, or they're going to have a rest day at the resort.
00:41:18.897 --> 00:41:24.057
LIZZIE: But my mom and the kids and I are going to go to Epcot.
00:41:24.057 --> 00:41:27.397
VIRGINIA: And you will get to enjoy Flower and Garden Festival.
00:41:27.397 --> 00:41:27.777
LIZZIE: I know.
00:41:27.777 --> 00:41:29.257
LIZZIE: I'm so excited.
00:41:29.257 --> 00:41:31.117
LIZZIE: It looks so beautiful.
00:41:31.117 --> 00:41:34.217
LIZZIE: I've never been to Epcot that time of year.
00:41:34.217 --> 00:41:35.377
VIRGINIA: Oh, you're going to love it.
00:41:36.037 --> 00:41:36.997
VIRGINIA: I'm excited.
00:41:36.997 --> 00:41:37.917
VIRGINIA: It's so pretty.
00:41:37.917 --> 00:41:43.317
VIRGINIA: So many different opportunities to take photos with the topiaries and everything.
00:41:43.317 --> 00:41:46.217
VIRGINIA: They've got really cute merch for Flower and Garden.
00:41:46.217 --> 00:41:49.377
VIRGINIA: Especially, you said that you have a hobby farm.
00:41:49.377 --> 00:41:55.737
VIRGINIA: Like, there's probably merch that you're going to be interested in that, like, I could never think about getting as a New York City person.
00:41:55.737 --> 00:41:58.957
VIRGINIA: Flower and Garden trowel or I don't know.
00:41:58.977 --> 00:42:09.337
LIZZIE: Well, I definitely, I was like, oh, yes, supposedly you can, like, there's also, I think, you know, shows or demonstrations on some garden stuff that I would love to see.
00:42:09.337 --> 00:42:10.897
LIZZIE: So I'm very excited about that.
00:42:10.897 --> 00:42:13.057
LIZZIE: And I know my mom will love it.
00:42:13.057 --> 00:42:29.377
LIZZIE: And you know, being from a rural community, it's going to be nice to go to World Showcase and see, I'm very excited for my kids to get a glimpse of what the world looks like outside of that beautiful North Carolina.
00:42:29.377 --> 00:42:31.657
LIZZIE: And look at what other countries have to offer.
00:42:31.657 --> 00:42:33.657
LIZZIE: I'm so excited.
00:42:33.657 --> 00:42:35.177
VIRGINIA: Are you going to do Kidcot?
00:42:35.177 --> 00:42:36.597
LIZZIE: Oh, what's that?
00:42:36.597 --> 00:42:40.337
VIRGINIA: Oh, yay, I get to share.
00:42:40.337 --> 00:42:46.397
VIRGINIA: So Kidcot is a thing that anybody can participate in, I suppose, but it's meant for kids.
00:42:46.397 --> 00:42:48.357
VIRGINIA: And you get a little passport book.
00:42:48.457 --> 00:42:54.177
VIRGINIA: I think you can ask for it at one of the stores at the front of World Showcase, maybe.
00:42:54.177 --> 00:43:09.457
VIRGINIA: And when you go into one of the pavilions, you take that over to the Kidcot station there, and they have a representative from each country who will write something on their passport in their own language.
00:43:09.457 --> 00:43:15.917
VIRGINIA: So they'll write, you know, hello or the kid's name, and they get a chance to interact with the person for just a second.
00:43:16.037 --> 00:43:20.037
VIRGINIA: And then it gives them something to look for at every country.
00:43:20.037 --> 00:43:30.157
VIRGINIA: So it's a fun way to incorporate kids who maybe wouldn't be as interested in some of the other stuff the countries have to offer and gets them involved and into it.
00:43:30.157 --> 00:43:30.917
VIRGINIA: I love that.
00:43:30.917 --> 00:43:32.257
LIZZIE: We will definitely be doing that.
00:43:32.257 --> 00:43:33.017
VIRGINIA: That's great.
00:43:33.017 --> 00:43:35.537
LIZZIE: I'm just so, I'm excited for them to see it taste.
00:43:35.537 --> 00:43:38.017
LIZZIE: And like Japan, my son's going to love it.
00:43:38.017 --> 00:43:39.757
LIZZIE: I already told him about the store there.
00:43:39.977 --> 00:43:42.557
LIZZIE: He is so excited.
00:43:42.557 --> 00:43:47.297
VIRGINIA: You're going to be coming in the international gateway because of your location.
00:43:47.297 --> 00:43:54.137
VIRGINIA: So I think if you just go into that, I think it's called Gateway Gifts or something.
00:43:54.137 --> 00:44:01.317
VIRGINIA: It's that store that is right as you come in on the left before you've even gotten into World Showcase.
00:44:01.317 --> 00:44:05.377
VIRGINIA: I would just pop in there and say, do you have any KitKat booklets?
00:44:05.377 --> 00:44:10.477
VIRGINIA: And if they don't, I think that if you go to one of the KitKat stations, they probably will have it.
00:44:10.477 --> 00:44:27.317
VIRGINIA: But back when Alex did it, they gave you like a little, it was like a little ziplock bag or something that had a suitcase on the side of it, like a picture of a suitcase and it was like to hold your passport and you walked around.
00:44:27.317 --> 00:44:28.377
VIRGINIA: It was super cute.
00:44:28.377 --> 00:44:29.577
LIZZIE: That's really cute.
00:44:29.577 --> 00:44:30.697
LIZZIE: Oh, I love it.
00:44:30.737 --> 00:44:33.337
LIZZIE: And he can bring it back to, you know, he's missing school.
00:44:33.337 --> 00:44:34.217
LIZZIE: So he can bring it back.
00:44:34.217 --> 00:44:36.597
LIZZIE: I'm sure they're going to be like, how was your trip?
00:44:36.657 --> 00:44:37.177
VIRGINIA: Yes.
00:44:37.177 --> 00:44:50.017
VIRGINIA: No, a lot of people use that as a way to justify the kids being out of school because sometimes you have to provide something to the school of what educational thing you did and that's what they do.
00:44:50.017 --> 00:44:50.817
LIZZIE: Oh, that's great.
00:44:50.817 --> 00:44:51.597
LIZZIE: Thank you so much.
00:44:51.597 --> 00:44:52.377
LIZZIE: That's wonderful.
00:44:52.377 --> 00:44:53.377
VIRGINIA: You're welcome.
00:44:53.377 --> 00:44:55.697
VIRGINIA: Any dining reservations this day?
00:44:55.697 --> 00:44:56.057
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:44:56.057 --> 00:44:58.957
LIZZIE: We do have San On Hill Inn.
00:44:58.957 --> 00:44:59.437
VIRGINIA: Uh-huh.
00:44:59.437 --> 00:45:00.057
VIRGINIA: Yep.
00:45:00.057 --> 00:45:02.857
VIRGINIA: And that's the one inside the pyramid, correct?
00:45:02.917 --> 00:45:03.617
LIZZIE: Yes.
00:45:03.617 --> 00:45:04.237
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:45:04.237 --> 00:45:07.197
LIZZIE: We are going to eat there just to have like some downtime.
00:45:07.197 --> 00:45:14.137
LIZZIE: But we also obviously want to check out all the food booths or not all, but I downloaded the app.
00:45:14.137 --> 00:45:16.257
VIRGINIA: Every single one.
00:45:16.257 --> 00:45:23.857
LIZZIE: We have downloaded the app, Food and Wine that you suggested to us and I've wishlisted several booths that I can't wait to check out.
00:45:23.857 --> 00:45:24.457
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:45:24.457 --> 00:45:25.037
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:45:25.037 --> 00:45:29.617
VIRGINIA: Go to your map and you can filter just by your wish by so that you can make it easier to find what you need.
00:45:30.297 --> 00:45:33.837
VIRGINIA: There is so much food that I love at Flower and Garden.
00:45:33.917 --> 00:45:34.897
LIZZIE: I can't wait.
00:45:34.897 --> 00:45:40.317
VIRGINIA: Based on my experience, I think I prefer the food at Flower and Garden to Festival of the Arts.
00:45:40.317 --> 00:45:44.997
VIRGINIA: And I prefer both of those festivals over Food and Wine, funny enough.
00:45:44.997 --> 00:45:45.637
LIZZIE: Weird.
00:45:45.637 --> 00:45:46.397
VIRGINIA: I don't know.
00:45:46.397 --> 00:45:46.737
VIRGINIA: I don't know.
00:45:46.737 --> 00:45:47.777
VIRGINIA: Maybe it's just me.
00:45:47.777 --> 00:45:50.037
LIZZIE: Flower and Garden just seems so beautiful.
00:45:50.037 --> 00:45:53.657
LIZZIE: I mean, I'm just, again, so excited to see it.
00:45:53.697 --> 00:45:56.477
LIZZIE: And so excited to see all the topiaries.
00:45:56.477 --> 00:45:57.297
LIZZIE: That's so special.
00:45:58.977 --> 00:46:02.337
VIRGINIA: So I hope I get down at some point for Flower and Garden.
00:46:02.497 --> 00:46:05.057
VIRGINIA: I don't know that it's going to happen this year, but we'll see.
00:46:05.057 --> 00:46:06.577
VIRGINIA: We will see.
00:46:06.577 --> 00:46:06.997
VIRGINIA: All right.
00:46:06.997 --> 00:46:10.697
VIRGINIA: Any other plans for this day?
00:46:10.697 --> 00:46:15.857
LIZZIE: We're going to just try to get Remy, Frozen, Sore, and all the hot ones.
00:46:15.857 --> 00:46:17.957
LIZZIE: And then Moana.
00:46:17.957 --> 00:46:19.497
LIZZIE: Love to check out as well.
00:46:19.497 --> 00:46:21.617
VIRGINIA: Are you doing multi-pass for this day as well?
00:46:21.617 --> 00:46:21.937
VIRGINIA: Yes.
00:46:21.937 --> 00:46:22.857
LIZZIE: All the days.
00:46:23.037 --> 00:46:23.457
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:46:23.457 --> 00:46:24.357
VIRGINIA: Perfect.
00:46:24.357 --> 00:46:27.797
VIRGINIA: And you mentioned Cosmic Rewind as a maybe.
00:46:27.797 --> 00:46:33.757
VIRGINIA: So are you going to go ahead and purchase some individual lightning leans for it?
00:46:33.757 --> 00:46:34.857
LIZZIE: I'm still on the fence.
00:46:35.097 --> 00:46:36.757
LIZZIE: I need to ask my son one more time.
00:46:37.417 --> 00:46:39.437
LIZZIE: He keeps saying, oh, maybe.
00:46:39.437 --> 00:46:44.257
LIZZIE: And I just wonder, it seems like, can you get it?
00:46:44.257 --> 00:46:45.557
LIZZIE: Seems like a lot, maybe.
00:46:45.557 --> 00:46:45.977
LIZZIE: I don't know.
00:46:45.977 --> 00:46:46.977
LIZZIE: What are your thoughts?
00:46:46.977 --> 00:46:48.357
VIRGINIA: It's intense.
00:46:48.357 --> 00:46:50.277
VIRGINIA: It just depends on the kid, you know?
00:46:50.757 --> 00:46:52.457
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:46:52.457 --> 00:47:00.517
VIRGINIA: So I would say go ahead and purchase them just so you have the time that you want.
00:47:00.517 --> 00:47:04.257
VIRGINIA: And if on the day of he's like, you know what?
00:47:04.257 --> 00:47:05.677
VIRGINIA: Never mind.
00:47:05.677 --> 00:47:12.177
VIRGINIA: Go to one of the blue umbrellas, explain the situation, and they would probably refund you.
00:47:12.177 --> 00:47:14.077
VIRGINIA: Have you written it before?
00:47:14.077 --> 00:47:15.357
LIZZIE: No, I would love to.
00:47:16.337 --> 00:47:21.077
VIRGINIA: So would you still write it even if he decides not to?
00:47:21.077 --> 00:47:24.377
VIRGINIA: Like, would you go and quickly do it before?
00:47:24.377 --> 00:47:26.797
VIRGINIA: Like, let your mom stay with the kids and?
00:47:26.797 --> 00:47:27.317
VIRGINIA: I don't know.
00:47:27.317 --> 00:47:28.437
VIRGINIA: I would say yes.
00:47:28.437 --> 00:47:29.757
LIZZIE: Okay, okay, okay.
00:47:29.757 --> 00:47:31.337
LIZZIE: Yes, then I'll do it.
00:47:31.337 --> 00:47:32.317
VIRGINIA: It's so good.
00:47:32.317 --> 00:47:32.817
VIRGINIA: It's so good.
00:47:32.817 --> 00:47:34.757
VIRGINIA: It's my favorite write in all of Disney.
00:47:34.757 --> 00:47:37.557
LIZZIE: I mean, that's what everybody says, so I really want to go.
00:47:37.557 --> 00:47:38.037
LIZZIE: Yeah.
00:47:38.037 --> 00:47:39.477
VIRGINIA: So make that happen for yourself.
00:47:41.197 --> 00:47:52.737
VIRGINIA: Right over in that area, kind of in front of the, near the bathrooms, kind of near the entrance to connections, there is an outdoor playground.
00:47:52.737 --> 00:48:01.917
VIRGINIA: So if you end up going and doing it yourself, then your mom could easily take the kids over into that little playground area.
00:48:01.917 --> 00:48:04.737
VIRGINIA: There's one entrance, one exit.
00:48:04.737 --> 00:48:08.057
VIRGINIA: She could sit on a bench and let them run around for just a bit.
00:48:08.657 --> 00:48:09.617
LIZZIE: Okay, that's great to know.
00:48:09.617 --> 00:48:11.717
LIZZIE: Okay, then yes, maybe I will be doing it then.
00:48:11.717 --> 00:48:14.277
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:48:14.277 --> 00:48:14.777
VIRGINIA: All right.
00:48:14.777 --> 00:48:19.917
VIRGINIA: Are you meeting up with your sister at the end of the day for any kind of dinner plans?
00:48:19.917 --> 00:48:25.717
LIZZIE: Yes, we are going to do dinner, I think, that night at Rosa Mexicana, because they can't go into the park.
00:48:25.717 --> 00:48:28.997
LIZZIE: So we will have Mexican twice, but that's okay.
00:48:28.997 --> 00:48:30.437
VIRGINIA: That's what I was about to say.
00:48:30.437 --> 00:48:31.577
VIRGINIA: Are you prepared?
00:48:31.637 --> 00:48:34.997
VIRGINIA: I mean, I can eat Mexican pretty much any time.
00:48:34.997 --> 00:48:35.737
LIZZIE: Same here.
00:48:36.677 --> 00:48:38.077
LIZZIE: I just worked out that way.
00:48:38.077 --> 00:48:40.097
LIZZIE: I think it will be fine.
00:48:40.097 --> 00:48:44.637
LIZZIE: I could switch Amari with, but I think we'll be fine.
00:48:45.997 --> 00:48:51.977
LIZZIE: I really want to try that avocado margarita, so I'm like, let's do it Mexican twice.
00:48:51.977 --> 00:48:59.617
VIRGINIA: Well, should you think about it and change your mind, don't forget you can get the avocado margarita at La Cavadilla Tequila and you can get it to go.
00:49:00.377 --> 00:49:01.477
LIZZIE: Oh, mm.
00:49:01.497 --> 00:49:08.017
VIRGINIA: So if you wanted to switch to something else during the day, you could easily go in there.
00:49:08.017 --> 00:49:20.237
VIRGINIA: Sometimes there's a little bit of a line, but there's plenty in there to look at, so kids could wander around with mom while you hop in line, grab your avocado margarita and head out with it.
00:49:20.237 --> 00:49:20.857
LIZZIE: Okay.
00:49:20.857 --> 00:49:21.697
VIRGINIA: If you decide that.
00:49:21.697 --> 00:49:24.517
VIRGINIA: But both of those restaurants are good, I will say.
00:49:24.937 --> 00:49:26.097
VIRGINIA: I like the food at both.
00:49:26.197 --> 00:49:33.817
VIRGINIA: And I've never been to the Rosa Mexicana in Disney, but we have one here in New York that I've been to before, and it was excellent.
00:49:33.817 --> 00:49:34.937
LIZZIE: I mean, I've heard good things.
00:49:34.937 --> 00:49:36.417
LIZZIE: And again, they're different menus.
00:49:36.417 --> 00:49:37.137
LIZZIE: I mean, they're slight.
00:49:37.137 --> 00:49:38.797
LIZZIE: So we'll see.
00:49:38.797 --> 00:49:41.837
LIZZIE: I just think it would be nice to sit somewhere dark and cool.
00:49:41.837 --> 00:49:44.237
LIZZIE: And my son's obsessed with the three Cabaneros.
00:49:44.237 --> 00:49:46.357
LIZZIE: So, yeah.
00:49:46.357 --> 00:49:47.457
LIZZIE: And DuckTales.
00:49:48.337 --> 00:49:49.777
LIZZIE: It's made a come back in our lives.
00:49:49.777 --> 00:49:51.257
LIZZIE: It's been really fun.
00:49:51.257 --> 00:49:53.857
VIRGINIA: So are you going to do the World Showcase adventure?
00:49:55.097 --> 00:49:56.897
LIZZIE: I don't know what that is either.
00:49:56.897 --> 00:49:59.377
LIZZIE: Oh, it is the DuckTales one, isn't it?
00:49:59.377 --> 00:50:00.557
VIRGINIA: Yes.
00:50:00.557 --> 00:50:04.877
LIZZIE: This is a recent, he has just recently fallen in love with DuckTales.
00:50:04.877 --> 00:50:13.857
LIZZIE: So, you know, when you're like out of the blue, children could just be obsessed with something, and you're like, oh, I need to change my whole mind thought about it like this.
00:50:13.857 --> 00:50:18.897
VIRGINIA: My advice, I've done three of the countries.
00:50:18.897 --> 00:50:19.437
VIRGINIA: Is that right?
00:50:19.637 --> 00:50:23.697
VIRGINIA: I've done Germany, I've done France, and I've done the UK.
00:50:23.697 --> 00:50:29.577
VIRGINIA: I don't think every country has a DuckTales adventure, because I know Canada does not.
00:50:29.577 --> 00:50:39.717
VIRGINIA: But if you're going to just do one, and particularly because you're coming in from the international gateway, of the three that I've done, then the UK was my favorite.
00:50:39.717 --> 00:50:40.437
LIZZIE: Okay, great.
00:50:40.437 --> 00:50:41.977
VIRGINIA: It's really cool.
00:50:41.977 --> 00:50:44.517
VIRGINIA: So I would recommend doing that.
00:50:44.517 --> 00:50:51.257
VIRGINIA: You just have to go to your Play Disney app or whatever, and when you're standing there, it will know as long as your location services are on, it will know.
00:50:51.257 --> 00:50:58.017
VIRGINIA: It just directs you and it gets you into a couple of different locations right there in the UK, and it gives you the clues.
00:50:58.057 --> 00:51:01.777
VIRGINIA: And it's interactive, like it's the other ones.
00:51:01.777 --> 00:51:08.277
VIRGINIA: I mean, it's all interactive, but the other ones, in my experience, just something moves or that sort of thing.
00:51:08.277 --> 00:51:12.377
VIRGINIA: But the one in the UK, there's like physical props involved.
00:51:12.377 --> 00:51:14.257
VIRGINIA: So it's fun.
00:51:14.257 --> 00:51:19.597
VIRGINIA: And there's like a go into a shop and you have to have a code word, like that sort of thing.
00:51:19.597 --> 00:51:20.697
LIZZIE: Oh, he's going to love that.
00:51:20.697 --> 00:51:21.437
LIZZIE: Oh my gosh.
00:51:21.437 --> 00:51:22.537
LIZZIE: He's going to love that.
00:51:22.537 --> 00:51:23.557
VIRGINIA: Thank you for that.
00:51:23.557 --> 00:51:25.577
VIRGINIA: It's so much fun.
00:51:25.577 --> 00:51:25.917
VIRGINIA: All right.
00:51:25.917 --> 00:51:27.177
VIRGINIA: So Thursday, April 10th.
00:51:27.517 --> 00:51:30.617
LIZZIE: We are doing Animal Kingdom That Day.
00:51:30.617 --> 00:51:34.297
LIZZIE: And my mom, I've never been to Animal Kingdom.
00:51:34.297 --> 00:51:35.077
LIZZIE: We've never been.
00:51:35.077 --> 00:51:37.257
LIZZIE: So this is, we're really excited.
00:51:37.257 --> 00:51:47.217
LIZZIE: My Ginger loves animals and loves dinosaurs, which is going to be sad that, you know, that's going away, but it's not gone yet.
00:51:47.217 --> 00:51:50.517
LIZZIE: And the bone, I think she'll really love the boneyard.
00:51:50.517 --> 00:51:54.857
LIZZIE: And yeah, I'm excited just to see, it looks so beautiful.
00:51:55.097 --> 00:51:57.697
LIZZIE: We're going to try to get a flight of passage.
00:51:57.697 --> 00:52:04.297
LIZZIE: My son's so excited about Expedition Everest and yeah.
00:52:04.297 --> 00:52:08.977
LIZZIE: And you know, in the Lion King show, they're really in the Lion King right now.
00:52:08.977 --> 00:52:10.697
LIZZIE: So that's going to be wonderful.
00:52:10.697 --> 00:52:13.417
LIZZIE: I've seen it tour through Florida.
00:52:13.417 --> 00:52:17.517
LIZZIE: I saw the show when they, they were, but it will be fun to see.
00:52:17.517 --> 00:52:25.517
LIZZIE: I know it's a different show, but still that absolutely beautiful costumes and the acrobats and stuff.
00:52:25.517 --> 00:52:26.777
LIZZIE: So yeah.
00:52:26.777 --> 00:52:29.957
LIZZIE: And the food, I'm excited about the food in Animal Kingdom.
00:52:29.957 --> 00:52:37.957
LIZZIE: We have a Yakin Yeti reservation at two, but I'm also excited about maybe checking out Satuli Canteen.
00:52:37.957 --> 00:52:39.417
VIRGINIA: I love Satuli Canteen.
00:52:39.417 --> 00:52:43.357
VIRGINIA: It is just one of the best quick services.
00:52:43.357 --> 00:52:47.157
VIRGINIA: You don't walk out feeling like I just ate theme park food.
00:52:47.157 --> 00:52:48.037
LIZZIE: That's great.
00:52:48.037 --> 00:52:48.377
VIRGINIA: I love it.
00:52:48.917 --> 00:52:53.397
VIRGINIA: For Yakin Yeti, are you a Landry's member?
00:52:53.397 --> 00:52:57.617
LIZZIE: No, and I've thought about getting that because you just walk in, right?
00:52:57.617 --> 00:53:08.877
VIRGINIA: Well, you can just walk in, but more what I was thinking is there is a $25 fee or something when you join, but you get a $25 credit.
00:53:08.877 --> 00:53:11.317
LIZZIE: Oh, so it's zeros out.
00:53:11.577 --> 00:53:12.357
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:53:12.357 --> 00:53:12.977
VIRGINIA: Exactly.
00:53:13.677 --> 00:53:19.777
VIRGINIA: And then you get money on your birthday to add it in.
00:53:19.777 --> 00:53:23.257
VIRGINIA: And I just logged in the other day because I couldn't remember.
00:53:23.257 --> 00:53:26.517
VIRGINIA: Because Landry's has restaurants all over.
00:53:26.517 --> 00:53:28.557
VIRGINIA: I think that Morton Steakhouse is them.
00:53:28.557 --> 00:53:35.717
VIRGINIA: And there's places in the city, I could be using this privilege of just walking in and grabbing a table, and I have not.
00:53:35.717 --> 00:53:46.657
VIRGINIA: But I was looking because I was like, I wonder if my credit is still good because I have not used my free credit from when I joined, and it's been a year and a half, maybe two years at this point.
00:53:46.657 --> 00:53:47.977
VIRGINIA: And no, not two years.
00:53:47.977 --> 00:53:56.377
VIRGINIA: It's been like a year and a half because my friend Amanda, who I've interviewed before, was the one that told me about it and convinced me to join.
00:53:56.377 --> 00:53:58.037
VIRGINIA: So it was still there.
00:53:58.037 --> 00:54:00.517
VIRGINIA: It doesn't seem to expire the entry 25.
00:54:00.517 --> 00:54:07.317
VIRGINIA: What it does expire, I learned, is your birthday credit because you get another $25 every year on your birthday.
00:54:08.257 --> 00:54:18.517
VIRGINIA: So it said that it had expired, but then I noticed that you can push it for, you can click to say, I want to hold this, so it puts it on hold.
00:54:18.517 --> 00:54:21.177
VIRGINIA: So then when you know you're going to go, you just reactivate it.
00:54:21.177 --> 00:54:24.277
VIRGINIA: So I was like, okay, I'm going to remember that from here on out.
00:54:24.277 --> 00:54:31.457
VIRGINIA: So what I was going to say is, it might be worth it to look into a Landry's membership, just knowing that you're going to one of the Landry's restaurants anyway.
00:54:31.457 --> 00:54:31.917
LIZZIE: Okay.
00:54:31.917 --> 00:54:41.657
LIZZIE: Then real quick with that, can you just, because right now we have a two o'clock, and I would love to not eat lunch at two, you can really just show up and they'll have a table ready for you?
00:54:41.657 --> 00:54:47.337
VIRGINIA: I don't know that they'll have a table exactly ready, but basically it's like a fast pass to the front of the walk-up line.
00:54:47.337 --> 00:54:48.037
LIZZIE: Oh, okay.
00:54:48.037 --> 00:54:49.797
VIRGINIA: You're supposed to get right in.
00:54:49.797 --> 00:54:50.277
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:54:50.277 --> 00:54:52.577
VIRGINIA: If you wait, it shouldn't be very long at all.
00:54:52.577 --> 00:54:52.837
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:54:52.837 --> 00:54:53.897
LIZZIE: That's wonderful.
00:54:53.897 --> 00:54:54.297
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:54:54.297 --> 00:54:58.537
VIRGINIA: It works for Rainforest Cafe and places like that.
00:54:58.537 --> 00:55:04.217
VIRGINIA: I wouldn't encourage you to eat at Rainforest Cafe while you're at Disney only because you can access that other places.
00:55:04.217 --> 00:55:11.597
LIZZIE: We did T-Rex last time and it is what it is, but my daughter loved it.
00:55:11.597 --> 00:55:14.597
LIZZIE: I imagine there might be a T-Rex in our future again.
00:55:14.597 --> 00:55:16.697
VIRGINIA: Uh-huh.
00:55:16.697 --> 00:55:20.077
VIRGINIA: That just reminded me, I saw the funniest TikTok the other day.
00:55:20.077 --> 00:55:27.337
VIRGINIA: It was a sketch somebody was doing about having a serious conversation while at a Rainforest Cafe.
00:55:28.297 --> 00:55:33.697
VIRGINIA: So they're sitting there and going, well, I mean, I think you should break up with him or whatever.
00:55:33.697 --> 00:55:40.217
VIRGINIA: There's a volcano going off in the background and all this noise happening.
00:55:40.217 --> 00:55:41.577
LIZZIE: No, it's not at all.
00:55:41.577 --> 00:55:42.477
VIRGINIA: I was dying.
00:55:42.477 --> 00:55:44.937
VIRGINIA: I was like, can you imagine?
00:55:44.937 --> 00:55:46.657
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:55:46.657 --> 00:55:52.437
VIRGINIA: So Animal Kingdom, and what are you thinking in terms of the evening?
00:55:52.737 --> 00:55:58.297
VIRGINIA: I'm imagining that because you're traveling with this group, that you're going to be trying to sort of meet up at the end of every day.
00:55:58.297 --> 00:55:59.257
LIZZIE: Yes.
00:55:59.257 --> 00:56:00.557
LIZZIE: Yeah.
00:56:00.557 --> 00:56:04.877
LIZZIE: We have right now Amari as our dinner for that night.
00:56:04.877 --> 00:56:05.237
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:56:06.497 --> 00:56:14.237
LIZZIE: And they're going to Universal and they have the premiere pass of Universal, whatever that is called.
00:56:14.237 --> 00:56:16.097
LIZZIE: I think it's Express Premier.
00:56:16.097 --> 00:56:23.957
LIZZIE: I don't know what it is, but they said there's a chance we may not make it back because you want to get everything you can out of that.
00:56:24.437 --> 00:56:25.577
LIZZIE: So we have Amari.
00:56:25.577 --> 00:56:28.297
LIZZIE: I heard it's so good, so I'd love to check it out.
00:56:28.297 --> 00:56:28.457
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
00:56:28.457 --> 00:56:31.217
VIRGINIA: I've heard good things, but I've never been myself.
00:56:31.217 --> 00:56:41.177
LIZZIE: And again, we might sprinkle, on all these nights, we could sprinkle some corn dogs and the mozzarella stick on the boardwalk.
00:56:41.177 --> 00:56:47.157
LIZZIE: So I think we're going to try to sprinkle some snacks in from boardwalk and things like that.
00:56:47.157 --> 00:56:49.437
VIRGINIA: Sounds like a good plan.
00:56:49.437 --> 00:56:49.737
VIRGINIA: All right.
00:56:49.737 --> 00:56:56.477
VIRGINIA: So the next morning, the 11th is the day that you will switch over to Pop Century.
00:56:56.477 --> 00:56:58.077
VIRGINIA: What are your park plans for this day?
00:56:58.077 --> 00:57:00.457
VIRGINIA: I'm guessing Magic Kingdom.
00:57:00.457 --> 00:57:02.517
VIRGINIA: Or wait, no, you had three day tickets.
00:57:02.517 --> 00:57:04.837
LIZZIE: We're not doing Magic Kingdom.
00:57:04.837 --> 00:57:05.957
LIZZIE: I know, isn't that?
00:57:05.957 --> 00:57:07.197
LIZZIE: It's terrible.
00:57:07.197 --> 00:57:08.477
VIRGINIA: It's not terrible.
00:57:08.777 --> 00:57:10.477
VIRGINIA: It's not terrible at all.
00:57:10.477 --> 00:57:13.637
VIRGINIA: Because if I had to go to one park, I would go to Epcot.
00:57:13.637 --> 00:57:16.797
VIRGINIA: You've never been to Animal Kingdom before, so there's justification for that.
00:57:16.857 --> 00:57:23.557
VIRGINIA: And Hollywood Studios, based on the ages and interests of all these boys you got going with you, it makes sense.
00:57:23.557 --> 00:57:26.417
LIZZIE: And my daughter is not a princess girl.
00:57:26.417 --> 00:57:29.977
LIZZIE: She's a dinosaur, toy story, lion king.
00:57:29.977 --> 00:57:33.197
LIZZIE: Like she is so I'm waiting for that moment.
00:57:33.197 --> 00:57:34.437
LIZZIE: We went last time.
00:57:34.437 --> 00:57:38.197
LIZZIE: It was wonderful, but it was a little overwhelming, I think, for them.
00:57:38.197 --> 00:57:41.637
LIZZIE: So I figure we'll save that for when dad's with us.
00:57:43.257 --> 00:57:47.077
LIZZIE: And make that a little easier on myself.
00:57:47.077 --> 00:57:52.217
LIZZIE: And my mom has been to Magic Kingdom through the, you know, from the 70s on.
00:57:52.217 --> 00:57:55.777
LIZZIE: So she kind of wanted to check out some of the new stuff.
00:57:55.777 --> 00:58:00.877
LIZZIE: And so we're actually, we're gonna, when we switch over to pop, we're gonna go to Blizzard Beach that day.
00:58:00.877 --> 00:58:02.757
LIZZIE: My kids love the water.
00:58:02.757 --> 00:58:06.297
LIZZIE: So it will be a Blizzard Beach day.
00:58:06.297 --> 00:58:08.077
VIRGINIA: Do you like doing water slides?
00:58:10.297 --> 00:58:14.217
LIZZIE: It's been a long time, Virginia, it's been a long time.
00:58:15.877 --> 00:58:17.517
LIZZIE: I don't know, I love to know.
00:58:17.517 --> 00:58:18.697
VIRGINIA: We'll see.
00:58:20.237 --> 00:58:24.297
LIZZIE: I imagine we'll hang out in the, it's called, what is it, Tykes Corner.
00:58:24.297 --> 00:58:27.437
LIZZIE: And I imagine it will be fun.
00:58:27.437 --> 00:58:29.737
LIZZIE: But yes, I don't, but they're little.
00:58:29.737 --> 00:58:33.117
LIZZIE: So I think we'll be doing the little slides, which I'm okay with that.
00:58:33.117 --> 00:58:37.297
LIZZIE: There's no way I'm doing that, the one that shoots straight down.
00:58:37.437 --> 00:58:38.897
VIRGINIA: The Summit Plummet?
00:58:38.897 --> 00:58:40.777
LIZZIE: No, no, thank you.
00:58:41.817 --> 00:58:44.637
VIRGINIA: But some of the water coasters are fun.
00:58:44.637 --> 00:58:45.317
VIRGINIA: Okay.
00:58:45.317 --> 00:58:50.357
VIRGINIA: Like you're in the raft and it just, it helps you get up the hill and then you go down.
00:58:50.357 --> 00:58:51.917
VIRGINIA: It's just a lot of fun.
00:58:51.917 --> 00:58:53.577
VIRGINIA: I've never done Blizzard Beach before.
00:58:53.577 --> 00:58:55.137
VIRGINIA: I've only done Typhoon Lagoon.
00:58:55.137 --> 00:59:02.037
VIRGINIA: But if Blizzard Beach is anything like Typhoon Lagoon, I will say be wary of the wave pool.
00:59:02.037 --> 00:59:04.677
VIRGINIA: It is probably stronger than you think it is.
00:59:04.677 --> 00:59:06.857
LIZZIE: I heard Typhoon Lagoon is crazy.
00:59:07.137 --> 00:59:08.397
VIRGINIA: It is insane.
00:59:09.537 --> 00:59:13.797
LIZZIE: I heard Blizzard Beach is actually a better water park for littles.
00:59:13.937 --> 00:59:20.097
LIZZIE: Because one of the reason why is theirs is not as crazy as Typhoon Lagoon.
00:59:21.177 --> 00:59:28.057
LIZZIE: But yes, I will make sure my three-year-old definitely has a life preserver on when we hit the wave pool.
00:59:28.057 --> 00:59:35.037
VIRGINIA: I have gotten my feet knocked right out from under me at Typhoon Lagoon, and not even in very high water.
00:59:35.477 --> 00:59:38.557
VIRGINIA: You're like, I'm probably good here, it's just up to my knees.
00:59:38.557 --> 00:59:38.717
LIZZIE: Wow.
00:59:40.177 --> 00:59:40.657
LIZZIE: Okay.
00:59:40.657 --> 00:59:41.737
LIZZIE: Thank you for that warning.
00:59:41.737 --> 00:59:43.017
VIRGINIA: It's just really powerful.
00:59:43.017 --> 00:59:43.497
LIZZIE: Okay.
00:59:43.497 --> 00:59:45.157
LIZZIE: Thank you for that.
00:59:46.237 --> 00:59:48.537
VIRGINIA: Any dining reservations on this Friday?
00:59:48.537 --> 00:59:58.197
LIZZIE: You know, no, we're going to, I think they're going to, my sister and I, this is a side note, are training to do a half marathon for her 50th.
00:59:58.197 --> 00:59:59.037
LIZZIE: Oh, wow.
00:59:59.037 --> 00:59:59.497
VIRGINIA: Good for you.
01:00:00.017 --> 01:00:06.057
LIZZIE: So, we're hoping to get Princess for next year.
01:00:06.937 --> 01:00:11.217
LIZZIE: So, we're going to go for one run on the boardwalk that day before they leave.
01:00:11.297 --> 01:00:14.977
LIZZIE: Then after that, I think I might try to go to Barriva.
01:00:14.977 --> 01:00:15.777
LIZZIE: No, not Barriva.
01:00:15.777 --> 01:00:20.037
LIZZIE: I'd like to go to Riviera maybe for some breakfast, and then we'll hit the water park.
01:00:20.097 --> 01:00:21.117
VIRGINIA: Okay.
01:00:21.117 --> 01:00:30.697
LIZZIE: And then when we get home to Pop, we may try to check out Barriva for dinner that night.
01:00:30.697 --> 01:00:38.317
VIRGINIA: For breakfast at the Riviera, were you thinking Primo Piatto, just the quick service?
01:00:38.317 --> 01:00:40.757
LIZZIE: That or even the coffee shop and get pastries.
01:00:40.757 --> 01:00:41.457
LIZZIE: Just check it.
01:00:41.457 --> 01:00:44.597
LIZZIE: I've never been to Riviera, so I kind of wanted to check it out.
01:00:45.157 --> 01:00:45.677
VIRGINIA: Yeah.
01:00:45.677 --> 01:00:48.977
VIRGINIA: The coffee shop has some amazing banana bread.
01:00:48.977 --> 01:00:51.217
VIRGINIA: If you are into banana bread, it has chocolate in it.
01:00:51.217 --> 01:00:56.137
VIRGINIA: Not everybody likes their banana bread with chocolate, but really, really good.
01:00:56.137 --> 01:01:11.137
VIRGINIA: And the coffee in the coffee shop, even if you go to Primo Piatto and get the lemon ricotta pancakes or things like that, I would recommend getting your coffee from Le Petit Cafe and just walk it down and then get your breakfast.
01:01:11.137 --> 01:01:12.837
VIRGINIA: And then you get the best of both worlds.
01:01:12.837 --> 01:01:13.877
VIRGINIA: Because that's what I always do.
01:01:14.717 --> 01:01:17.017
VIRGINIA: Stop and get my coffee, go downstairs.
01:01:17.017 --> 01:01:17.617
VIRGINIA: Love it.
01:01:17.617 --> 01:01:18.557
LIZZIE: Thank you for all these.
01:01:18.557 --> 01:01:19.337
LIZZIE: This is amazing.
01:01:19.337 --> 01:01:21.577
LIZZIE: I'm getting all sorts of wonderful tips.
01:01:21.577 --> 01:01:23.217
VIRGINIA: I wish I was doing this trip.
01:01:23.217 --> 01:01:25.117
VIRGINIA: Your trip sounds amazing.
01:01:25.617 --> 01:01:30.517
VIRGINIA: I need some Le Petit Cafe coffee in my life right now.
01:01:30.517 --> 01:01:31.817
LIZZIE: Don't we all.
01:01:33.517 --> 01:01:34.017
VIRGINIA: All right.
01:01:34.017 --> 01:01:36.537
VIRGINIA: Anything else on the Friday?
01:01:36.537 --> 01:01:37.457
LIZZIE: No, I think that's it.
01:01:37.457 --> 01:01:40.117
LIZZIE: Really just Blizzard Beach mostly.
01:01:40.117 --> 01:01:42.097
LIZZIE: And then, you know, checking out Pop Century.
01:01:42.237 --> 01:01:52.097
LIZZIE: I mean, I think it's going to be such a great, like, adventure for the kids to see all the fun statues and maybe check out the arcade.
01:01:52.097 --> 01:01:56.317
LIZZIE: Kind of just enjoy the resort that day after the water park.
01:01:56.317 --> 01:01:59.557
VIRGINIA: So yeah, that sounds fantastic.
01:01:59.557 --> 01:02:03.737
VIRGINIA: So that brings us to Friday, April 12th, which is going to be your departure day.
01:02:03.737 --> 01:02:05.157
VIRGINIA: What time do you think you'll hit the road?
01:02:05.157 --> 01:02:17.417
LIZZIE: You know, right now I have a Ohana reservation, which is, again, this is where you can't, it's hard to stop, but I think we'll probably not go through with that.
01:02:17.417 --> 01:02:23.497
LIZZIE: But if we want, we can go to Ohana before we leave, and then we'll hit the road after breakfast.
01:02:23.497 --> 01:02:33.957
VIRGINIA: Okay, long drive back, but at least it's a Friday, so presumably you won't need to do anything on the Saturday, so you can kind of recover.
01:02:34.017 --> 01:02:34.897
LIZZIE: Right.
01:02:34.897 --> 01:02:36.337
VIRGINIA: Okay.
01:02:36.337 --> 01:02:37.897
VIRGINIA: This sounds like so much fun.
01:02:37.897 --> 01:02:45.377
VIRGINIA: I am feeling the Disney blues right now, so I'm going to have to live vicariously through you.
01:02:45.377 --> 01:02:46.537
LIZZIE: We're really excited.
01:02:48.017 --> 01:02:57.537
LIZZIE: It's been a rough little bit with the weather being so gray and lots of snow this year, so it's going to be nice to have some Florida sunshine.
01:02:57.537 --> 01:02:58.957
VIRGINIA: Yes.
01:02:58.957 --> 01:02:59.457
VIRGINIA: All right.
01:02:59.457 --> 01:03:04.257
VIRGINIA: Well, drive safely, and I cannot wait to talk to you when you get back.
01:03:04.257 --> 01:03:05.117
LIZZIE: Thank you, Virginia.
01:03:05.117 --> 01:03:07.337
LIZZIE: This has been great.
01:03:07.337 --> 01:03:09.797
VIRGINIA: Thank you, Lizzie, for being here with me today.
01:03:09.797 --> 01:03:15.437
VIRGINIA: Listeners, you can head to the next episode to hear all the fun details of Lizzie's PostTrip Report.

01:03:28.197 --> 01:03:31.637
VIRGINIA: And until next time, keep daydreaming about where you long to be.
